I was skimming through some posts and I saw someone mention it. Is this true?

No, it's a Sierra remake.

Why are people so anal about posting around here, isn't this a forum? I've googled it many times.

Yes. Not a chat room.

Quote from: LJUBI on Sun 21/08/2005 20:46:43you can not download it good luck

You call that good luck? You're a real true anti-piracy person? Ã, :o

(Yes, I like taking things out of context =P)
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

I'm not trying to be rude, it's just that everytime I post, which hasn't been that much mind you, someone has attacked me for either posting in the wrong place (I'm new, give me a break!) or posting for no good reason. I have accounts on other forums where people are a lot friendlier and post as much as they want to, even keeping to the right topics.

also, no one attacked you from what I see. They said you should use google, which evidently you should.

This forum is usually very friendly, but everyone's somewhat on their guard at the moment since there have been a few nuisance posters about. I didn't know that there was a Police Quest 1 remake, so this post has been helpful to me, but it could have been more interesting.

Rather than asking the forum if the game exists you could have looked it up via a popular internet search engine, and then begun an artistic debate regarding the graphical changes, or asked whether remakes are really an improvement, or asked what games we'd like to see updated...

I imagine you've also visited forums that are o'erflowing with nonsensical, incoherent and often offensive posts. The three golden rules aren't an attempt to censor, and you shouldn't be afraid to post here. I believe they are an attempt to make people think before they post. I suspect this forum will happily accept you if you take a little more care about what and where you post.

I didn't know about the remake either.  Those graphics are fantastic.  You can't beat well done 256 color VGA graphics.  Still, it's probably the same annoying Police Quest...oh no, you're dead because you didn't put your wallet in your left pocket per standard police procedure!

You actually can find PQ1 VGA for download in some places.Ã,  I did.Ã,

I think it'd be nice to ease up on DizzyDancer, especially since she is new.Ã,  She wasn't spamming, she wasn't looking for warez, she wasn't being immature or annoying.

3. If you're not a moderator, don't pretend to be one. If a thread needs to be moved or locked, the moderators will deal with it.

Please abide by the golden rules, if the forums don't have a friendly atmosphere then there's no point in them being here at all.

Ayeaye.

EDIT - Hmm, but rereading, I notice I was not trying to be a moderator. What I did was ask for him to try and find the answer to his very simple question in a search engine before posting a thread just for the purpose of a "yes/no" reply. Doesn't that sound reasonable?

I doubt she was just looking for a one word response.  She probably wanted to start a conversation about the game, which should be fine, right?

Rui 'Trovatore' Pires

Not a very descriptive post for starting a conversation, huh?

No but, but being new to the forums, I'd cut her a little slack.  I know that when I first started visiting the forums, I was turned off by some overly-curt responses.

Rui 'Trovatore' Pires

It depends on people, don't it? She was unlucky enough to have me as the first poster, and if I think someone should do something, I say it. Which is what I did, and with which other people agreed. Even if they did not agree on my curtness (which is not explicit on their posts and which I won't guess, and it's not really relevant anyway).

Besides, it's not the first time that a thread with a "Yes/no" question gets answered in a single word in a certain post. Not at all. And curt as that "google" line was, wasn't it true? Isn't that the basis of the whole "netiquette", so to speak? Search before you ask, and all that? I just commented on it. I do believe that if it weren't for Dancer's 3rd post on this thread (reply #5) the issue wouldn't even have BEEN an issue. :P

But it was her 3rd post!

And for the whole google rule...that bugs me sometimes, because google is not always the best way to get answer for a question.  For example, say I made a post on the Gen about finding a good DVD encoder.  I guarantee someone would say, "Search Google."  Thanks, that's helpful.  But the neat thing about forums is that you can get a human response from people, with personal opinions and thoughts.  So what's the harm in that?

That said, her original post could have been more expansive.  No question.  But it was her 3rd post!

Rui 'Trovatore' Pires

Aye, aye. I didn't just mean google, it's a standard rule everywhere. Read the FAQ and the manual before you ask questions. Search the forum for an answer. Google is just an expansion.

And aye - human response. But if you make a yes/no question and don't include any hints of further discussion, where's the advantage of human response?

Ayuh, 3rd post. That doesn't make a difference. Other people's 3rd post don't need such excuses (because that's what you're doing, "excusing" her), because they lurk and learn the ropes before they post, or because they this and that and so on - what I mean is, peoples is peoples. They do different things. I'm not very inclined to be more friendly to someone just because he's a new person.
