I can see it now.  Any time someone has a question they are going to go to Chris's house and ask him in person. :=

I'm just surprised that Chris Jones opened himself up to certain Essebs being able to knock on his door.

Oh don't worry, my flag is only accurate to within 10 miles or so ;)

It's only fair. Esseb saved CJ from cancer

I decided to change the accuracey of mine to "The George" pub - seemed appropriate  ;D

You mean you don't live on the railway line? We were speculating on #ags about you being a hobo...

Actually, what would be really cool was if it worked like the Marauder's Map and tracked all the AGSers as they moved around. Then CJ could tell when Esseb was sneaking up on him...

10 miles, eh? :D  That's not too expansive of an area. :=

My flag is literally directly above* my house but you can't zoom in far enough to see that there is a house there.

*-ish.  Within 20 - 30 feet.

Just a bump to this... I was wondereing when this map thingy will go "live". It seems to be working pretty well as far as I can see. Only problem now is that the page has strange borders which can be fixed easily I assume.

Ishmael

Well, it has be sorta live for quite some time now... Visit #ags sometimes ;)

But yeah, it could maybe be posted somewhere 'round here too...
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

<Calin> Ishmael looks awesome all the time

If I remember correctly scotch wanted to do some final work to fix it up before it goes live -- and also, we might want to add some shortcut links to get to Europe, North America, etc without having to scroll and zoom around the map.

If people are happy with it now then I guess I don't need to do anything special to improve the performance now.Ã,  Links to the main locations would be nice though, and fairly easy, I'll get on to it!

Edit: http://adventuregamestudio.co.uk/aga/map.php ok I added some links to where people mostly are.

Question:Ã,  Why would anyone who has any control over the matter use IE these days?

I know Firefox is more secure and everything... But the ctrl+tab shortcut didn't work with Firefox last time I tried, and it's my favourite one along alt+tab and alt+del.

If that's supposed to switch between the open tabs, it does now.

I like this new idea!!!  I added myself, google maps is extreemly accurate, I even found the little hill I live on!!

Thanks to scotch and AGA for their work getting this up and running ... it is now official, and the links on the website have been updated.

It's good to see it all official.

Oh man.. I had a cool idea for the map: how about landmarks to where the respective mittens/brittens/gloves gatherings were held? :)

And also, games people have worked on the speech bubble! Just a thought... I'd like to get the other idea done first, though :D

Also, kind of an anoying glitch is when you click on a person's mark, and the map scrolls to center it. when it finishes scrolling, the bubble with the person's name disappears!

scotch

We did have that idea (marking AGS meeting locations with special icons)... I would have implemented it but I don't know anything about mysql and databases, AGA did that side, and two people working on stuff like this is a bit confusing.

I guess I could have just added them to the html since there are so few.  Oh well.

The map provides a high level of detail, but you should never place your pin so accurately that your real address can be seen on the map.

Watch the X-Files much? :=
If anyone wants to find my address they can look me up in the phone book anyway.

Yey! Cool map thing, and it scrolls nice and smoothly :D My balloon thing actually lies RIGHT on my house, so feel free to
- Pop round, and visit the Screen 7 bedroom office
- Stalk me, and enter yourself into a free prize draw! (first prize a bullet, second a baseball bat)
- Take a photo of my house without me knowing and win £10
- Take a photo of me without me knowing and get arrested
- Mong well in Mongewell (that map puts Mongewell in such a stupid place!)

;)

Evil

I was too worried to put it directly on my house, so I put it on my parking spot at my highschool.  8)
