Hi all, again I am asking for some help (ideas).

I've recently got signed on doing concept art for an in-production on-line game. One of my first assignments is to draw all the races (Male and Female) in a mix between my style and DaVinci. I'm not quite sure what that means...Having not studied any classical art whatsoever...

Any ideas?

Sam.

I fi had that brief, i would assume it was the Davinci Man, which looks like this:

I have no idea what it means if its not that.
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

Thanks, that would make sense. I was thinking he wanted me to paint something or what not...

If I understood correctly, that means they want you to draw a moody pose concept of each character and then davinci sketches for modeling. These sketches are basically 0 angle front and side images, from which they can easily model the characters. I'm assuming it's a 3d game since they want such sketches. Dude, you should've asked. It's better to be humble and ask than be quiet and screw it up. It saves them time and you further humility.

Have you ever played AD&D 3rd edition? The chapters first page look a lot like a crossover between your style the DaVinci's drawing above shown.

Don't know if this helps, though. I guess you were asked to create something not so modern but not too classic looking eighter. Though one, heh?  ;) Please show us when you come up with something.

My first thought was what ildu said.

They want your style, but with "character sheets" in the DaVinci layout so they can more easily model them.

This idea, by the way, gets me ALL kinds of excited!  Keep us posted 'cause I want to play the game!!

I think you mean the Vetruvian man!

EDIT: Vetruvian man, silly me.

Here's some D&D examples from their website. I can't seem to find the height guide, which is what I think they are talking about.

I believe the correct name is "Vitruvian Man".

On a side note, DaVinci did many intricate diagrams of machinery but also did studies of "ideal" proportions.  Many artists since have utilized some of the basic facial proportions and structures as a reference point.  It does sound more like a request for model-reference points than a style-blending.

Kinda like this:
