Well, a month or two ago, I posted this sprite (see below) and a few sentences with my ideas.Ã,  Now, thanks to my realisation on some things, I've expanded my ideas from a animation (or comic) series set in Star Trek's 22nd century (two years after the Romulan War ends) to a series which will span over two centuries.Ã,  It'll show simple things, such as how first contact went with a race, to something big like how the (insert two race names) war went.Ã,  The three Earth/Federation ships primarily in use, will be the Explorer, the Davids and the Thames.Ã,  I'm having a bit of mouse trouble, so the sprites I'm editing will come in a bit later, but I can show yo ua work in progress: The Bridge of the Daedalus class (http://www.starfleet-museum.org/ufp-daedalus.jpg)

Here you go:Ã,

I'm trying to do more of a shading to the door, consoles, walls and I know there's a tutorial somehwere here :)  The final one should look better.

Hey, nice work!

I'm a Star Trek fan too!

I don't really like this kind of view of the bridge, since it's so unnatural. You would never see anything like that on TV - since the physical impossibility. You might consider rather having two or three views from cameras INSIDE the bridge.

This would allow you to do cuts and make the whole thing more movie-like. But then... for a game bg this might be better.

On the image itself:
I'm not acquainted with the bridge of Deadalus class, since it didn't appear in any movies or TV series, but I'm really confused. I recognise the consoles on the far left and right (science/communication/engineering) and but I don't recoginse the three other things. Is that a captain's chair in the middle? The two other things look like some benches to me. The closest one is a console or the main screen?

I think one problem is proportions. The door is so huge comparing to other things and the captains chair is so small... can't tell exactly, don't know how big the bridge is supposed to be.

No Star Trek ships had white walls or floors.

I think you should dig out a tape with ST-TOS and have a look at Enterprise 1701-A bridge, which will be probably the closest thing you can have a look at. It should give you a pretty good picture how the doors, consoles and stuff should look like.

Anyway nice job and don't take this too hard - I am a perfectionist  ;)

I would also HIGHLY recommend you purchase a copy of Star Trek 25th Anniversary (because it is good!) or check out screenshots of how they designed the bridge.  I made a hi res background around that version and some 3d models of the bridge from the Star Trek encyclopedia.

Hey progZmax, was the sequel any good? Will that even work on a odern computer?

I agree with what seaduck said, it's an odd angle.

But being a star trek fan, I'll be *watching?* this when it's done.

Since I don't have my copy of Star Trek 25th Anniversary here with me, I found a screenshot lying on methodshop.com

I hope it helps.. it looks soo cool, I love itÃ,  ;D

I don't think is bumping an old topic, so...

Thanks for you comments, I am terrible at drawing backgrounds as I've never tried before.  I wonder if I could just steal the bridge of the Enterprise from 25th Anniversary and alter it (I made a version where I edited out all the characters on the bridge :)) The console on the left side of the captain's chair (another thing I have to re-design) is the weapons station.  The one on the right is science.  While the other two consoles act as communications\engineering\other.  The one at the front is the helm console.  I think I should start taking tutorials on back designing first.  Also, does anyone know if I can find a female template of the walking template at Kafka's Koffee?

Someone would have to make it first.

Ah, I'll make it then :D.  I'm getting on pretty well with a tutorial here for ArtGem.  So I guess I can work my way upwards from the basics.

n3tgraph

you might want to look at the perspective of the consoles. They run parrallel with the room's perspective lines.  This looks kind of odd.

I'd draw the lines for you if I wasn't at work :P
Maybe some other noble AGS-helper?  ;D
