looks fine for woodcracks to me

Wood would only crack like this at e.g. the ends of a log. The cracks in boards or planks are practically always parallel to their edges.

The question is, why did it crack? Make the shelves look worn by adding green speckles or something like that. But I imagine even very ancient wood doesn't crack by itself.

yep woodcracking is only one side, straight lines.an i only one who axes( use axe on log..)?
wood isnt glass. . il think il take um someones BG and shange it a tiny-bit and its in game.

It's really great, my critisism is that I don't like the colours. They suit the picture, but it all lacks contrast. You could try darkening the darker colours and lightening the lighter colours.

Actually, that depends.  If it's in a moist area, particularly one that's much more humid at some times of day or year than others, the repeated cycles of expansion due to water absorption and contraction when it dries out could very well cause it to crack.

However, I agree that in general discoloration would be a better way of portraying aged wood than cracks.
