Keeping track of all my bands would be nice

I wish there was a website (and if there is please tell me!) where you could input all the bands you like into it and it would email you or something to tell you whenever a band you like has an album due out that month.

It's a nightmare trying to keep track! I just found out that Placebo, The Wonderstuff and Action Action all have albums out on 20th! In the past I have found out that bands I like had released stuff and I'd had no idea! For example, "Lit!"

Ooh that reminds me, Polysics have an album out in a few months..

Dont' these bands have websites? With newsletter. Make a Y! or Gmail account dedicated to newsletters. All the newsletter that you can take.

ManicMatt

There is that but then based on the few band email newsletters I'm signed up for, you get loads stuffed full of unimportant things to me like "Casey Chaos gets a haircut tonight!" (Ok I made that one up) or mostly about bands going on the radio or something. I don't have time to read all that crap! (Well okay maybe I do but I don't wanna!)

Thanks for the suggestion though!

Kinoko

I agree, that would be a good idea. Something that filters out all the crap, and gives you album releases and tour dates.

http://www.pollstar.com/

check out this site, you can register [I think it's free] and it'll notify you when a band changes its listing.

ManicMatt

i had a look, and a free account only lets you have four artists on there.  :(

Hmmm.. at this rate, I either be really ambitious and make the site myself and make millions, or I just check my bands occasionally...

MrColossal

get a series of free email forwarding accounts and sign up for more accounts at pollstar but they'll all get forwarded to your main email.

OR more simply

you could try a service like http://www.changedetect.com/ to monitor if there's a change on the URL for the band you want to track on pollstar [to avoid getting updates on websites for the band when they tell you random crap no one cares about] it will email you telling you.

So lets see... I listen to an estimation of 184 artists, so I would need to set up 46 pollstar accounts!

Hmm yes I like the idea of this web detect thing! I'll give that a go! Sounds like a nifty program! Thanks!

Kinoko

184 artists o_O You're gonna be getting a lot of mail!

Hey!
Another Placebo fan, cool!
I recommend you try out a band called 'The Cooper Temple Clause' as well.
i used to be indeceisive but now im not so sure!

ManicMatt

Kinoko: 185 artists when Vacant Stare's album comes through my letterbox!  ;D

Hammerite: Which is your fave Placebo album? Mine is the first one, followed by black market music. Although my fave placebo song is Slave to the wage, or maybe the song that goes "since i was born i started to decay"

Cooper temple clause? They're alright, I nearly got an album of there's years ago, but ultimately I didn't like them enough. Oh well! My loss eh! And I'll recommend to you, Mew!

Hammerite

I know of Mew!
I purchased the 'Come Home For Christmas' (i think it was call'd) single.
favourite placebo album is probably either black market music or without you i'm nothing.
