greetings,
i have been working on this game for a while now, alongside some other projects. It's basically a mix of adventure, strategy and puzzle, all fizzled down into a basic "this was stolen, so go and get it back, stooge!" plot.
Anyhoo, enough jabbering, onto the goods!

PLOT
You are Clint Mayeralo. Five years ago you went on a vigilante mission, killing upwards of 15 criminals. Luckily, you and the Chief were friends before the incident, and managed to get you on the Hornet City PD. In those five years, you have been one of HCPD's best cops, both in SCU and OCU. On a routine investigation for a missing painting at Hornet City Museum, the chief is shot in the head by a criminal in a racing helmet. Figuring that the criminal was the one that took the painting, you must follow leads from as many sources as you can, ranging from interrogating criminal mob bosses to painting critics, so you can get the painting, and get revenge.

THE GAME
The game features 3 Modes that you play in. There is Story Mode, where you complete the above story, Free Roam mode, where you are free to explore the city as you wish, and Street Crimes Unit mode, where you have to interrogate suspects of street crimes like rape, car theft etc.

SCREENIES

Investigating the portrait's disappearance. Look at the top left hand corner to see a part of what i'm sure is a familiar painting!

Arresting a suspect in SCU Mode.

well that's all, hope to hear what you have to say!
EDIT: 22.03.06
greetings. I think you should all know that i am taking a short break on HC to work solely on my music for a while. Now, before sceptics say anything, I'M NOT QUITTING THIS PROJECT, i'm just taking some time off.
cheers,

If you finish it, I'm sure it'll be a cult classic!

PsychicHeart

Don't worry, I'm not giving up on this one.

Those aren't actual screenshots though. Are they?

You just put them together in PS.

I think this game DOES sound like an interesting concept, I'm just unwilling to accept that this is a real effort. Considering those screenies are so, basic?

I wish you good luck but I remain dubious.
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

Woah. PS? I wouldn't go so far to say that :D.

And btw, 50% complete? Say what?

Saberteeth

Heh, kinda like Grand Theft Auto: Hornet city. THE ADVENTURE!  ;)

Hey, so what if the're basic, I think the actual playing experience is more important.

btw, when are you planning to release it?

Afflict

Sounds like a style of true crime. Interesting cant wait to see what you have done and gone about doing it.

Sam.

I said basic, meaning that they're not taken from inside the engine, they've been painted. If he could produce a screenshot, from inside the game, with real GUIS on show, id believe it, these are entirely the product of a painting program.
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

Hey Flukebake, looks nice, i'm also one for simplistic :)

Is that ingame text on the second screenie?

PsychicHeart

Zooty: The game has no GUI, at least not in the traditional sense. It is a button popup. And no, they aren't from the game itself, but i did the game background, C+P'd all the objects then the character.(for the 1st one). The second one IS taken straight from the game.

Afflict: I thought someone would notice!! Yes, the inspiration was from True Crime, especially the second screenie and the plot(the plot is loosely similar to that of New York City).

Buloght: If you mean what i think you mean, no, i did the text as individual objects. The player clicks on one of them.

ildu: Yeah, i didn't want to release an in-production thread when i just started, because i knew people would be sceptical seeing as my last 2 projects were cancelled.

If the game is 50 percent complete, how about giving us a small demo, so we can check this baby out?

I'm truely excited.

PsychicHeart

will do. i'll produce as a template and cut some of it out, don't want to give too much away ;D

I think that was the main issue why Zooty was skeptical. So was I. I can understand how objects would work better though, that apprehension meter must take some scripting. You should consider making the font a bit smaller, it's kinda obscuring. Hope you finish this one, it sounds/looks good.

What I'm skeptical about is the complete lack of any visible mouse in either of the images... It would probably be pretty hard to click on objects if there's no pointer.

Let me know when you come back to working on this ...

thanks for unlocking the thread Darth.
And i have some good news! I have decided to change the graphics style, from the old basic adventurey style, to a Cult II style birdseye view. I've already started, and i will post new screenshots of this new graphic style when i get home, because right now i am at school.
Cheers,
  -FlukeBlake.

Talking to train guards (please excuse the dots everywhere, my PSP8 was screwing so I had to copy and paste into Paint, which lost some color information. Also, please excuse the sloppyness, the room is going to be cleaned up a bit soon)

This is the game's first cutscene. As you can see, the game's cutscenes are told in Graphic Novel form(max payne homage anyone?)

EDIT: I've just decided, upon reviewing the graphics, that I'll stick with the first graphic style. While i preferred a birdseye view, i think it'll look better Standard Adventure-type.

You are welcome.  Please do not double post.

Not bad, it's just that you need an anatomy lesson.

Just joking, this isn't the CL. Well, simple is good, but i wouldn't go for too simple. I mean, even Larry Vales had more colors, get it? Make it a little more colorful so that it looks better for the player.

Well, there's something new:

Birdseye view? As far as I recall, there weren't any adventure games(don't count Indy, MI and SQ, they weren't ALL birdseye) that osed that king of style.

Anywho, keep it up. Saberteeth
