Anyone else watch this show? I didn't like it when I first saw it but now I can't get enough of it. Just watching every episode I can find now (thankyou, youtube.com!)

Tom S. Fox

I just googled for it.
It's an interesting format.
But how sick is this show?

Personally, I don't think it's anything to write home about. I've seen a few episodes, and it seems like a pointless attempt to gross out an audience that staunchly refuses to be offended. South Park used shock value as a social commentary, while this employs it as an end in itself.

"Reality" TV is already a parody of real events (or semi scripted ones, anyways), so a self-proclaimed cartoon parallel is nonsensical.

I've seen all the episodes since it started, and now I'm addicted to rape, aids and racism.

It's funny...

Hmmn...

...and...uh...Well, it's funny.

Kinoko

It's not so great in the first season because they try too hard to keep up the stereotypes of the characters but it gets really good after that.

I don't have a TV so I'll check out youtube. But I'm sure I've seen episodes of this somewhere...where I had access to cable or something...it's really vague in my memory... I was in a room...and it was dark...and there was this screen...and I think at some point I watched one or two episodes. It's really creepy how I can't place where I was. I can't THINK of anywhere that I can access cable TV... Maybe it was on my 'puter.

Anyway, I recall finding it amusing. South Park actually irritates me. It doesn't so much have social commentary as it just tries to make fun of anything and everything. I suppose they've got commentary in there, but it's not really clever. Not that I'm against the show, but it seems to float everyone elses boat a hell of a sight more than mine.

If you're gonna watch something available on YouTube.com, DEFINITELY watch the cousin episode. It's great.

Tom S. Fox

I just saw the streams.
It's lewd!
It's sick!
It's nasty!

It's the most hilarious thing I've seen since a very long time!!!

I love it!!!

Drawn Together is awesome. I hate reality shows and the parodies on
1) reality shows themselves
2) stereotypical cartoon characters of all kinds
makes it really great.

As for South Park its smarter because every single South Park episode - while it may have some fart jokes or jokse about controversial subjects - is a real satire about something screwed up in society. And that's great. If you know how to read between the linse and you understand the satire in each episode you'll understand how great it is.

Re-watch the episode "Best Friends Forever". It is one of the sharpest pieces of satire you'll ever see. Just one of the reasons I totally disagree with anyone who says South Park isn't clever.

I think a lot of people miss the point of South Park. Many relegate it to just a "shock value" show, but the shock value is merely just a reflection of a lot of the things we find shocking in our own society. Take my example above with the "Best Friends Forever" episode and how they're able to satirise the Terry Schiavo case, something that was pretty shocking in itself.

But to each their own.

Yep, I still love South Park to pieces. It's certainly changed since the beginning but the social satire just keeps winning me over, over and over. Season 8 is particularly great! Butters' Very Own Episode is hilarious.

Tom S. Fox

Oh yeah, "Best friends forever" is one my most eagerly awaited episodes, since I read about it in an episode guide.
And "Butters' very own episode" did kick arse!
I loved how they made fun about the Ramseys and all the other guys they never could proof guilty.
And the thing with the unknown Puertorican...

Tom S. Fox

Ha, they aired "Butters' very own episode", yesterday!
It was nice to see it, again.
Oh, and they also aired "South Park - Bigger, Longer Uncut".
What a delighful evening this was!
