How do you plug the elect blanket into the lamp post, it just keeps telling me i dont need to do that???????????????

Stuck in hell....I keep going thru rooms....Found the paper about the truffles... What else am I suppose to be doing down here?  Is this the way to the mermaid?  Any help would be appreciated..... Thank you  Also. I got the newspaper that says that solidland has truffles.  Where is solidland??  I am only seeing the coffee shop, elevator building, and water tower.
I have, hairtye, trashcan, entry hole, invite to amsterdam, empty box, pipe, horn, banana skin, rope, credit card, lighter, key from padlock, wire, book, model and newspaper.  I did the yellow lights but dont know what it affects.....Going around and around to nowhere.  also. I did the fire in the supermarket 999 room but didnt put the house(which ever one it is) there.  Can anyone help me with all my questions?   Thank you

Yes that are the way to get to the mermaid.

use the straw you have in your inventory on that red car behind the bus. Put straw on car then put chainsaw on straw.
you will be syphoning gas out of it.
