Space Quest III - The Pirates of Pestulon

The Story:

Well, we all know the story. Roger, asleep in his sleep chamber, wakes up on a garbage freighter. He has to get out of here, at least to do something! Come on, he may be a janitor, but geez. Anways, we only have a handful of screens done, but it's starting to come together.

Some screenshots:

Well, the game is crawling along slowly. Some of the artists left the team, as well as a scripter. Our website is unfinished, and things are getting frustrating from time to time. We have almost no one on our forums, and this is rather sad.
So, here's the lowdown:

We are looking for:
-Artists (background, dialogue portrait, sprite, and animator)
-Musicians
-Scripter (Must be well-versed in AGS)
-Web designer (Must be able to make an appealing website, and also someone who can design an SMF theme to match the mainsite when that's done. Also needs to be fluent in PHP and CSS.)

Anywho, feel free to stop by our forums at:
www.squadronsixentertainment.com/forums

In other news, we've decided to go with a SQ4 style Roger, along with a SQ4-esque interface, and cursors.

I know it's always nice to promote a game that you're working on but personally I find it's always best to wait til near completion or at least past the 50% point before starting to promote. I mean granted it looks quite nice but still...You're promoting a game that wont be completed for a long time if it gets completed at all.
Love x

Bunny, you make some excellent points. But I have almost no team and have to do everything myself for this project AND Dumb Quest. So I announce "hey
I'm doing a remake" in an attempt to get more team members (and also more people to post on the forums)
Also, thanks for your comment on the pics! I don't think they're that great, but hey I made them.

Will this slow the production of Dumb Quest I?
Not at all, the games are being made with 2 different teams.
Though, both teams are kind of short on artists.  ;)

So you say this game won't slow down Dumb Quest since you have different teams for each game. But at the same time you have almost no team and have to do everything yourself!? Hmm... I don't get it. :)

The game looks nice! And I always loved SQ3. I actually have the original original boxed version in a drawer somewhere. It should be worth a lot on ebay in a couple of years. ;)

I know this isn't the CL, but I have to say something about the style anyway: SQ3 originally had EGA graphics, which meant that the artists didn't have many colours to play with. But what you have done in your screenshots is keeping the same weird colouring as the original and just adding shadows. I would instead use the fact that you now have millions of colours at your disposal and colour things more realistically. Just an idea...

I agree, it looks like you just went over some screengrabs with the smudge tool. why dont you try and go for something a bit more original, like they did when they remade SQ1?

deadsuperhero

Yeah, now that we have a background artist though, that should change really quick.

Do you honestly think that's far enough into development to start promoting your game?

I started a thread when I had less than that :-[
Anyway, good luck with your game!  I've never played any Space Quest games before, so a remake sounds nice ^_^

In my opinion I would be happy to play this remake, because I played the original before. I look forward for this game. And don't disappoint me with bugs, okay!  ;)

Alliance: is it just me or does Roger look different from the rest of the image. I mean, he stands out to much. Maybe darken him a little?

Hey Alliance, the remake is looking very sweet, I have a good feeling about it! The only thing I dislike is the SQ5 style, I think it would be better to have SQ4 sprites, to keep a visual continuity in the series.

Good luck with the project!  ;)

deadsuperhero

Well thanks, folks.
Also, our forums are feeling rather empty and dry, why not head over there and sign yourself up?
