Hi!
I'm new here and hope I meet all forum rules. This is a background for my first AGS game. Please tell me, what you think about it.

It's neat! THough in a way it looks as if the inside wall was longer than the outside one. <- Does that make sense....

Other than that, I think it would benefit from detail to the outer walls, and prolly on the grass, maybe not, but I'd say it's worth the shot. Oh, and you'd prolly want the sheep to be objects or characters other than obstackles in the bg. Just a thought :)

Also, remember that if you have any pick-uppable items they shouldn't be in the background picture because they have to disappear when your character picks them up.
Looks, good.  Plenty of walk space and things to interact with.... I say dont worry about the fact that the shed looks bigger on the inside than the outside... i think it's fun.. you could have a whole dungeon in there or something... hehe

Thank you for your comments!
You are right about the weird magic enlargement of the room, I will fix it.
About the items vs. background:
In the AGS tutorial I read that there should not be too much items per room for good performence. So I thought I include those items I will not pick up in the background. Am I right that I still can make hotspots for looking at them? Or do I have to make them items? What would be the benefit of making the sheep objects or characters?

Medical Waste

Yep, you can still make hotspots and have your character look at the items.
The benefit of making the sheep and object would be animating them so they look more realistic. If you made the characters you could talk with them I guess!

Talking with sheep? Well, at least worth to consider  ;D
However, some animation for the sheep could be nice.

This is a cute background, but I think the fence at the back is too straight. It should curve with the hill. I also think you could reposition your sheep a little to make the composition more interesting.

Here's a badly done gif outlining what I mean:

Having the the sheep overlap the fence breaks up the image a little and will make it more interesting to look at. He doesn't need to be kissing the fence, like he is on my sketch. That's just a mistake.

Cat, can I ask a question? What program are you using for the art?

I know a lot of folks are hardcore MSPaint users, but if you use something that has layers, like PS or PSP, then you can make each item as a new layer, and if you choose to make it "pick-upable", then it's not too difficult to manage, whilst still keeping the rest of the background intact.

As for:
"In the AGS tutorial I read that there should not be too much items per room for good performence."

..has that tutorial been updated recently?

Ok, I reworked the picture. I changed the fence and put the sheep and some items to a different layer, so I can choose later what to do with it (I'm thinking of animating the sheep).
I didn't change the inside of the hut, because I checked the perspective lines and I think its good enough.
Thank you for your help!

That is a good image. Has a charm to it. however, there are some scaling issues. If you notice the sheep furthest back you'll see it's further away than the tree to the left of it. That sheep looks quite large compared to it. There's not really much else that stands out.
