SW Synth Volume

My problem is whilst playing an AGS game the level of music volume is too high. The obvious way to correct this is by lowering the SW Synth volume control bar, and it works! That is until I move a character into a another room; the volume bar goes straight back up again!

It's really annoying, and I can't play games whilst listening to the sound anymore! Does anyone know a solution?

What if you lower the overall volume (either through the volume control panel or with your speakers volume knob) but increase the one for the WaveOut device (digital sounds) ?

Thanks for the reply.

The overall volume doesn't effect the music volume at all, except when it reaches zero. Then, no sound. I'm not sure I understand what you mean about wave. How will setting it higher make any difference on the SW Synth volume?

Btw the all games I'm playing use midis for the music.

The trick is that you lower SW Synth by lowering the overall volume. But you as well lower your digital sound volume of course which you don't want. To compensate for this you can then increase the digital sound volume, unless it's not already at max (see Wave on the volume control panel).

Hmm strange, can you then lower it with a volume knob on your speakers?

In short... no.

I'm using a laptop with no volume knob but there are 'plus' and 'minus' buttons, tho neither of them work like a volume knob. If I press 'minus' for example, the sound will go down but  not like I would like to. The sound decreases but also does the overall volume on the control panel. So they're no use...

But I know what you're saying. I wish I had speakers which I could do that!

I see... Still odd that the overall volume setting doesn't affect the synth channel one, as in theory it should. Might be some sort of hardware issue.

Also, some games may have a music volume control on their settings GUI, so you may want to look for it, just in case...
