QuoteRappelz (Old French: To Summon) is a free MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) made by Gala-Net Inc, the distributors of Flyff, Corum Online, Space Cowboy Online, Shot Online and soon UpShift Strike Racer. It is based in a fantasy world dominated by three races of separate alignments: The Deva, guardians of light, the Asura, servants of the dark, and the Gaia, the protectors of nature. The game can be compared to games such as Lineage II.

Like Gala-Net., Inc's other MMO titles, Rappelz is free of subscription charges; revenue is generated through the sale of special items via the "Cash Shop". Purchasing Cash Shop items is not compulsory, though the FAQ404 error implies that they may offer the player a distinct advantage in-game, however the majority of players do not use the service.

I just downloaded the game. Anyone else tried it?

No, but I used to be a FlyFF player... Do a lot of people play Rappelz? Even though it's newer than FlyFF, I didn't think many players converted.

Ghost

@Greg, how good exactly is FlyFF? I must admit I like the cutey graphics style, but what's the game like? I always hesitate to sign up to these things... once had a NeoPet, though.

Don't play those games, they take your life away
I get compulsive and addict.

I'm MMORPG free since 2 years now.  ;D

And by the way Ghost, I've played FlyFF is a cool game, is very fun. You fly only to move from place to place, you can kill monsters too (while flying) but is boring and worthless, I'd recommend it if you like "hard to level up" MMORPGs

Rappelz, like so many korean games being churned out lately, feels like a heartless, soulless multiplayer husk of a game with controls and gameplay similar to each other.  I say this because I've played many of them, obviously, and because I'm a cheapskate and directly opposed to renting games.  Unless mindless level grinding with uninteresting skills and an even less interesting story (or none at all, really) interests you, I'd pass.

What I don't like about them is the fact they sell items that gives unfair advantages to those who buy items to progress in this unreal universe, that's the hole idea of this games and is kind of sick, a new sickness. Many people is trapped by MMORPGs, it may sound like I'm overreacting (sp?) but I don't think I am.

I'd just feel like an asshole if I'd buy something to make my character "grow up" faster. or more good looking, I just hope I never get to that kind of addiction and dependance on a game, I did my best efforts to quit them  ;D. And I'll try to never go back  :o
I didnt affect my life so bad, I've just lost a girlfriend xD, and I didnt want to go out with my friends sometimes. I was 17 years old.

sorry vict0r for the off-topic, I'll just shut up now  :=

I was pretty addicted to it for a month or two... then I realized how much time I spent playing it (I had a level 49 mage). It's a pretty good game--it's updated fairly regularly with new items, etc. Thing is, past level 40, leveling up starts to take a while. At that point (or earlier), you have to team up with other players in order to level at a decent speed.

My advice would be to look at some basic game guides online when starting out. There were a bunch of basic things I wish I had known about earlier on.

Well, I've tried the game for some hours and it seems basically, as ProgZmax said, like a mindless leveling game. At first I were pretty amazed over how good the visuals were, but they don't make up for the fact that the game is pretty boring. I've only become level 16 but it just seems like a huge  grinding arena with some few monsters in it.
Maybe I'll try my luck with FlyFF instead.

Yeah, it seems to be the norm of online games these days, endless level grinding to grind some more to possibly at some point in the future be able to wear a fisherman's hat (you have to be level 15 to wear a fisherman's hat in World of Warcraft...seriously!).

Well, do you have any tips of a good and free MMOG that I can try? Since you have tried so many of them, I mean.

Shane 'ProgZmax' Stevens

Oh, I didn't see your request Victor.  No, I can't really recommend any mmorpg (free or otherwise) if you're not after level grinding and a lot of samey quests.  I guess it depends on what exactly you want out of a game like that.  You might find Anarchy Online a bit of fun for awhile, if only for the sheer amount of crafting possibilities, but that would hinge on you being a person that likes to make stuff in games.  If you haven't tried Kingdom of Loathing that might entertain you for a bit if you don't mind really bad hand-drawn graphics and a browser interface.  If pirate type stuff is your thing you might find Voyage Century fun for a bit, it has ship to ship combat and stuff like that.

Should I suggest this site?

EDIT:

If you guys are so bored of ongoing level up multi-player online games, why not make an online game where you have quests like in the games you make here; y'know like quests that aquire thinking.
