And with x264 you can squeeze it to even smaller with similiar quality. So I think the filesize could be between 100-200M, that's a reasonable size to upload even on dialup ;)

I'm just gonna say that I thought this movie was brilliant! Although I didn't read through the thread, I'm sure someone has already covered the main reasons for why it's brilliant so I'll just leave it at that. :=

Layabout

Layabout was great to watch (maybe you should start cleaning tables near hollywood and see what happens?)

You flatter me to no end. Thanks so much for the kind words!

I just have to say I'm quite impressed.  When you guys were mentioning there was a video filmed during mittens, I was expecting a piece of crap joke video with scenes lasting 5 minutes with no editing.  Bravo.

I really liked your directing technique.  The swing set and rope being in front of the characters was great.  And how Creed took the step off the 'roof' was a great shot.  If I hadn't looked at the mittens photos, I would have no choice but to believe he actually jumped off the roof instead of the porch.

I couldn't stop laughing with most of Grundi's scenes.  The adventure-style 'key in door with newspaper' idea was brilliant and funny.

I couldn't help but drop my jaw when I saw Layabout storm over to the Donkey with the racket, just picturing the owners or other guests watching him do that, might have gotten you guys into some trouble.  lol

Grundi and Layabout getting dirt thrown into their faces and their reactions was top notch.   :D

I loved it guys, great work, awesome acting!  --Looking forward to a sequel!

Good to put some voices to names and faces. Mr Colossal is such a dork :=

Looks like you rented an awesome place!

Excuse me... I am not a dork.. I am a Colossal Dork!

We just watched it tonite, hooray us! It brought the Mittens Nostalgia back full force... but hooray us!

Here's the 180mb wmv version of this edit if you want it. A lot of sound work is needed & on my list, the next version will be a much "finer" & hopefully final version so do keep an eye out for it!

Thanks for all the kind words and advice and offers! I can't reply to them all now but I'm sure I will when the time is right!! It was a lot of fun to seal some time like this with you guys :D Or, gaj's, as they say op-north!

Oh my god, that was fantastic. And yes, that is what she said.

Seriously, every scene in that movie made me smile. Of course the adventure game key puzzle thing made it for me, but all the little details Mark managed to include will keep me nostalgic for a long time. Not only is it a great video, but it's a lovely memento of the chateau and the surrounding countryside (not to mention the Tipi bar...) ;)

Mark, thanks again for the opportunity to act in your film. I was almost afraid to ask you if I could have a part (I don't think I had even talked to you yet), and then you told me I had a character who would reveal a big part of the plot. Having never acted in anything before (unless you count last year's Mittens video), I was a bit nervous, but seeing how much everyone laughed at the dailies put my fears to rest. Now my mom is showing it to everyone and there's nothing I can do. :)

And hey, I'll admit...I've watched it through twice today. Aww, Mittens...I'm missing everyone already. :}

Wow. My brain went spinning when I first read the rumors that a BJ movie existed, and though I at times felt that Ben wasn't really in character considering that he never stole random items from everybody, those thoughts disappeared when we got the newspaper-key-scene and the vast amount of notebook use. Yes, the sound could have been better, but apart from that everything was just awesome.

Mods: I want a DVD, but I don't want one for free (it's a noble gesture to give them away to everybody who participated in the film, but you'll be a broke man soon if you give free dvds to everybody in the forums who want one). So if you put me down for a DVD, I'll upload twenty pounds plus shipping to your Paypal account. Deal?

Stupot

Seriously, Mark, send it to some TV networks and see if they'll let you make a pilot... This time next year you and Grundi will be millionaires.

I'm glad it's nostalgic & entertaining for you, Ivy! It was a truly superb Mittens this year round & I hope the movie conveys some of the fun we all had together :D Well done on your part, sorry I kept you in the dark in the beginning stages...it's all a process!! :) The key in the lock thing, hehehe...so cliched, it had to be done. Kudos for Grundy I think who noticed it could be done with that door :D

I keep re-watching too. It's fantastic. Everyones performances are just awesome!!!!! :D

The coming together to make it was fantastic too, so I think some further credit where credit is due! DutchMarco actually came up with the title, Le Chateau Macabre - awesome suggestion dude! Shame I've mis-spelt it all over the place  ::) Front page of The Sun today is somewhat spooky... Davy for tying up so many loose ends! I will get the gag reel done this weekend! Also a thank you to the people who didn't do much but still contributed and even those who I didn't manage to get involved. Even though scotch denied a cameo! :P And to Esseb for holding the light in a crucial scene. That lasts 3 seconds :P

Many thanks olafmoriarty! The logic of it was somewhat of a two-cup game but I'm glad it's randomness hit your spot eventually ;)

Nice suggestion, thanks for the kind words Stupot! With Grundislav's permission I'll try the BBC.

Just watched it, it was a laugh, but of course a bit amateurish, but that was just part of the fun ;D.
I won't go critiquing as this is not a c&c thread, but one technical thing did bother me :). You should have deinterlaced the material before scaling and encoding.

m0ds

Tom, et al - please upload your "behind the scenes" photos, and any videos! If there are AVI videos I can include them on the DVD and in the gag reel perhaps. Looking forward to seeing them all :)

Nacho

Brilliant! All the actors are awesome! I really like Reynaldo! :)

Now, seriously... It' s been great to see how a movie is made... all those takes, the things Mark made and that seemed a no sense for me... It turned into something splendid, it' s been an enjoyable experience, very didactic. I want to act more in the next one. Congrats Mark, and Francisco, for the first BJ movie. (?)
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

DazJ

Just watched it! What a great short film that was! Mark - GREAT directing skills considering it was made in a few days.

And Gundislav, lol, you ARE Ben Jordan my friend! I found you really fun to watch. Everyone in it was great at their part too which made it more the worthwhile to watch it.

I hope there's a sequel due soon...

Hehe, yeah, which you spend a lot of time in the BJ7 commentary trying to deny, Grundi... but we're not convinced. ;)

Last time he denied it I just pointed to the title screen for one of the ben jordans where he took a photo of himself and colored his hair red.
