Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, or what?

I was thinking the other day, why so many friend-type sites? People have accounts for many diferent ones. So what one(s) do you use/prefer and why?
I use Myspace and Facebook but prefer face book due to a wider range of options. :=

HammerBlade

I prefer Facebook for its privacy and (apparently) lower concentration of "bells and whistles" type gimmicks.

Interesting point. I used to like Facebook for its privacy, until it was revamped, and then nothing on it was private anymore. Seriously, unless you put something in a PM on Facebook it is literally broadcast to everyone else who shares the same friend/s as you! I've been at peoples houses and seen things being "Announced" by Facebook that I'd done and thought I'd done discreetley and in private. It's a website I can't shake, but things like that do piss me off a bit.

Also I don't really get the deal with Twitter, and why there's a "craze"? To me it just seems to be a blog-site, like every other blog-site? Only for some reason people are more inclined to update what they're doing every 2 minutes rather than every night. So when people say to me OMG Twitter! I say, yeah, OMG LiveJournal, OMG Blogspot, welcome to the new millenium dickwad!

Stupot

Facebook is NOT private... it's the nastiest, nosiest website on the intertubes.
Myspace is more open (without networks and stuff) but somehow less nosy... Facebook tells you Everything that All your friends are doing and it tells them Everything you are doing.  It's horrible.  I'm too scared to click on a hot chick's profile incase it tells everybody, and it looks like I'm stalking her.

I'm a Twitter man. It's far easier to digest than and more varied than blog-reading and there's no stigma attached to following people you don't know in real life just because you think they're interesting which is good because I have no friends.

Facebook is something I can use to stalk ladies and then feel sick and want to kill myself, Myspace seems to have improved but is still irritating and cluttered and one of the worst ways to listen to music there is.

To stop this post being too depressing, here's a picture of a chick:

Mr Jake

I use facebook, also:

These settings are a bit hidden, I agree, they should move  them to "Privacy" under the Settings menu or something.

Mr Flibble

I got a Facebook because, after a recent visit to England, it became clear it was the best way to keep in touch with all the people I met, who all used Facebook religiously.
Ah! There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling!

I'm similar. I use FB to keep in touch with those I went to highschool with.
And, a lot of people I know like FB better cause there are less 'porno-type' ads than Myspace.

I heard if you set Facebook to not display your relationship status it sends out a message saying "So and so is no longer single"

Ishmael

I used to hate Facebook after I had joined since back then it was a mess of applications on applications. Then they revamped it once and I got into it, learned quick how it works and got adjusted to it. Sharing just the info I want people to be able to see, etc. Then they revamped it again a bit and I was all confused with it, but got used to the current look and it's all good again.

I tend to learn how things work and then work my way around annoyances and problems rather than run into them time after time and make a racket of it every time, so I'm not really worried on the privacy front there anyway.
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

Layabout

Facebook is great if you know how to use it. My settings are set to private, so no-one outside of my friends group can read it. (though this does not stop pictures of people I tag being on display to their friends, or if they have an open profile, the whole world) If I want to send someone a reasonably private message on FB, I use the send message button. I only write on peoples wall if i want the world to know (very rare).

Also, I have my language set to English (Pirate), which makes it so much better than other social network sites. Where else can I go where a website calls my male friends mateys, my female friends wenches, and my hobbies 'Stuff you do when ye are out of rum.'
I am Jean-Pierre.

Trent R

Oh yeah, totally forgot about the Pirate language. A friend showed me that on their account, but forget to set it on mine.

I used to have mine set to Pirate, but as I was still getting used to the new layout and such, it sorta made it impossible.
Especially when I'm on dialup, as every time I click on where I think I'm going, I'm actually going in the other direction.
I then have to wait two minutes for the page to load before I can go back.

I don't really use Facebook except for chatting real-time with friends and when I've finished playing the latest AGS game and need a time-wasting device.

Hudders

I have my language set to Spanish. Helps with the learnin'.

Akatosh

I'm using StudiVZ, which is pretty much a Facebook clone, just with slightly better privacy and only available in German (AFAIK).

Oliwerko

Well, in e-communication protocols and friend networks use whatever people around me use. This way I ended up using facebook.
I admit it's not ideal, but once I got hang of its settings and stuff, it became pretty nice to use for me.

Plus it has the pirate language, which is sooo cool ;D
Anyway, I don't mind it's a broadcast. I use it for staying in touch with schoolmates and former mates from whatever past networks (real, I mean) - and that way I pretty much like that it's a broadcast.

If I wanted to be private, I would go and use an IM protocol.
So, I kind of like facebook now.
