Started in 2009.
Lost on 26th July, 2010.
Restarted February 2011.

Now working on Version 2 which is an entire rebuild of the original game that was lost on a HD error.

COMPLETION: 10%

ETA: August 2011

What was lost?
- The build of the game, all game data files
- 2 of 9 major 3D locations
- Roughly 3 of 60 music tracks and 5 of 20 animated cut-scenes

What's new?
- Better focus on character animations
- Better puzzles

Help needed?
- If you want to draw me a nice GUI then feel free :D

Already seen some screenshots, but it still looks pretty cool. Like the whole "explore everything" idea, that's what adventuring should be about imo. I'm guessing the music will be pretty good as well.

You worked in Bryce? Did you use your models for houses, trees and characters (like some people don't look like they're from Poser)? I suppose the lowpoly thing is to keep things easier (well with 100+ rooms you'll need it to be)?
Don't worry you can only get better in 3d and this is the best practice available.  ;)

Thanks guys! Yep, Bryce 3D anian - very old, my friend gave me it back in '98 after he visited Bangkok! I've been pretty useless at it & never had much faith but lately...well, I've now got total faith in it :) I'm using trees and stuff that came with it, the buildings I've made myself. Basically down the pub I was thinking, why do all my 3D objects and places look crap? And then I realised because you actually need to put some effort into each wall, window, and stuff. I've even got some interior locations now too, which I've never been able to do before. I'm hoping by the 7th and final game in the series my skillz will be amazing! :P


Okay, so it's not great...all the 3D art in the game is basic level, and yes, Poser characters don't really add much to it (LGM will be annoyed!!1) but yes you're absolutely right, practice makes perfect - and this is probably my first major "practice" at something ambitious in 3D. Thanks for the encouragement!

I now have all 7 islands completed, after a major 3D session yesterday and today. Just a few more interior scenes and maybe some touch-ups to some previous scenes and then all the art will be complete. This is the last time I make a bunch of islands in full scale in 3D :P But never say never, you know where these games lead... Pyst In Paradise!  :=

Anian, here are some samples of the music. I admit I've cheated a bit and let my DJX keyboard run wild, but it compliments to the "bitty" soundtrack in the game. I'll be playing some stuff live, badly! But it's okay, this game is still just an experiment!


The main theme for Ted Lansing the chap already exists in MIDI format and features in the game Murphy's Salvage, the MIDI can be heard here. I admit it sounds better in MIDI format than played on my keyboard - so you'll have to wait for the game itself to see how that works out :P

Overall this is shaping up nicely for me, I'm surprising myself :) But I have some music stuff to work on now which means it'll be another month or so before a major update. Thanks for the interest!

Looks great, if this was made around 2000., it easly could have been a high budget commercial game.  ;D

Now... Demo... Productivity? Hmmm.....I guess this is really for the eager people, because it contains quite a few spoilers. Well actually no, but what is it when you put the best puzzles in a demo... A demo-lition? That's awful :P

Demo you say? Well it wouldn't be a Screen7 game if it didn't have/wasn't just a bloody demo!

And no, as always, we can't take you to paradise just yet. For a start we owe Nacho 200 Euro. So try out rainy old Margo, and see if you can solve some simple but annoying mazes on a less than typical island in paradise with "8-bit" Ted Lansing! Yes, the demo is available. And it's stuck together with tape... And it's raining, so that tape just broke and it all went to crap.

The game & demo though, as I've said before - are just me learning and playing with AGS. Because AGS is a lot of fun :) These games are dedicated to "mine" good friends Grundislav & Farlander amongst others who've inspired me to keep going and have fun with this. Now is the time for a 3D Christopia-game!

So - check out ze demo in its early stages. Wannabe beta-testers just post your reports here please! I will be in touch with you personally when it comes to the full game. And before I hastily give you the link I want you to know the character walk cycles are crap and few, story won't make much sense at this point & the dialogue pretty awful and still a lot left to be desired - not to mention the fact I've literally just blocked off the entire game to create the demo out of which is why the download is large :P The GUI will be glorified in time too, I'm sure :) And that it's a pretty epic puzzle that probably dominates all the others in the full game so will be ruined by the demo in a kind of - movie trailer shows all the best bits - kind of way. A passing update, as I just finished a 10 hour stint on the game. I finished off the 136th room last night between more animation rendering. The game is now at a solid 70% ready, with only a few locations to go and then just a general wave of smartening it all up and getting people to test it. Of course, the real challenge is getting people to play it! ;) More soon. Here's a vertical scrolling background, a very useful method for these 3D rendered scenes. The annoying thing is I only figured out it would be handy in the 126th room. So yes. Vertical scrolling screens are cool! Boya

Another quick update (to hopefully kick me into final gear) - the game is pretty much done now, it's just the outro and re-animating the intro that need attention, and then of course polishing it up and testing. My deadline is set for Thursday 1st July though I hope to have it finished well before then. Thanks again to those who've tried the demo.

Final update before a first release, almost every thing is complete now. Just some graphics to clean up, about 2 rooms to "make better" and the finalé.

I'm looking for anyone that wants to test an alpha version from this weekend, so I can have a stable, playable version for Mittens. Not that I will be letting any Mitteneers play it  :P (don't want to damage my reputation, hehe). I will also be taking ideas about sections of the story that you feel could be expanded, and need help recognising where the story is weak, the clues are too slim and so forth.

As a tester you'll answer a questionaire as well as provide the usual feedback on errors and suggestions.

Please PM me or email me :) I know some said they were interested before, but if you are still interested let me know again! The download will be 230mb and will not feature the finalé, as I want that to be a remaining surprise for the testers when it's properly released. I'll include all the music as a gift for you, too.

It's a bold move trying to put 3d into AGS. Very few have been able to do it sucessfully. From what I could see in the video, YOU are one these people.

Thanks vexxice, but I'm one of few who can actually put 3D into AGS well. Many better examples than this! There's a lot of plugins and stuff that can make it totally awesome panoramary... mine is just shite 3D backgrounds in a lone barell universe! It really is the lowest of 3D tech, but thanks for the support :) It's the first of a possible 7. And it's just how it is when your seventh game is far better than your first!

Wow, that sucks, Mods. Same thing happened to me back in 2004 with my hard drive crash, and I know how it must feel. :(
