CPU works on %100.WHY?

Hi
I have a strange problem.when i play some games,cpu works between 99%- 100%(show to task manager).and strart CPU fan to run.and I close application for safety.(I have laptop).this happen for some games.not all.(some ags games(with direct draw even)-some flash games-or any other short games).I check for direct x version but this happen on flash games even.I use direct x 9.0c .because can not use higher for old graphic card.

Why?

my system is:
laptop
pentium IV 1.60 GHz
256 mb ram
64 mb ram graphic card
direct x 9.0c (can not use higher for old graphic card)

It is perfectly normal actually

CPU at 99% means that it is at maximum capacity, and that is just what some games need apparently. The fact the CPU fan kicks in is also nothing to worry about. Most modern CPUs shut down before burning out.

In this case "modern" may not be quite appropriate. A 1.60 GHz Pentium 4 isn't exactly cutting edge.

It has enough edge to count, in this case at least.

MEHRAD, if your worried about overheating causing damage, try sitting the laptop on something so that the air inlet is unobstructed (assuming the air intake is underneath), or you could buy one of the special cooling pads, which are specially designed for hot-headed lappies!

Yes, place it on the ventilator.

As the guys said, I wouldn't worry so much about the CPU usage. You're supposed to use what you get, otherwise it's useless

And a broken on is easy enough to change for a new one, even with a laptop as long as you can find a new one.

OK.thanks for answers.but i worry broken Graphic card before CPU.because when reach to hottest,first broken Graphic card.

So.can i become relax for cpu fixed 100% ?

The best advice anyone could give is upgrade. The actual reason is laptops use the built-in Graphics card. Which works from the CPU. So that is the real problem.

Hardware upgrade more likely, unfortunately, as 256MB main memory and onboard 64MB graphics are really low-spec. now. (And for a laptop you may not able to change the graphics part anyway, so here 'upgrade' possibly means 'buy a new system', double unfortunately.)

If it's Windows upgrade, even more likely, is that things would run even worse considering the spec. of your system. It's probably the same if you update your Windows, as it's possible that new updates cannot help much (if not worse) on performance of low spec. systems now.

Laptop intakes and fan vents get clogged up with all sorts of gunk, check they are clear. It also helps to levitate the laptop off the desk using a book if you are cheap like me. Mine has a 512mb gpu, 4gb ram and a core2duo. It runs pretty damn hot playing games. Only once has it shut down due to heat, but that was more the 45 degree heat we had here.
