I might be happy to do some AGS coding, since it's been a while...
Depends on how much, tho, as I'm working on a 2D physics engine.

Your artwork is amazing! I've always thought that KQ4 was long overdue for a remake. I would like to help in any way that I can if you do decide to make a remake independent of the one that mkennedy linked to... programming, voice acting, proofreading, whatever you need!
Status: Trying to come up with some ideas...

Sure, TerranRich, any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!  ;D Agentbauer is currently working on the scripting and music and I'm taking care of the paint-overs, animations and portraits.

Let me know what you'd be interested in.

We're attempting to get a demo out there, that way it's easier to progress in little steps. ^^

Here's a recent screen I've been working on, Rosella now walks up and down. Now I need to take care of side to side - wow, who knew walk cycles would be so tedious.   :P

Here's another...

Looks amazingg! But I'm sure you already know that.
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

if you ask me, these backgrounds are even better than the ones made public by the kq4 remake team. besides looking more professional, they capture the feel of the original better. if i were a team member, i would seriously consider working with you as it would be a waste to have two independent protects (seeing as how most remake projects never reach completion).

I don't know if I killed it or not, but I don't like how flat the shadows looked. Here's a quick mockup.

@ Ryan Timothy

Did you compress that image a lot?  It looks blurrier than the original one posted.  I can't really judge the difference between shadows fairly because the blurriness makes everything look chunkier.

Ryan Timothy B

No, I didn't compress it, I only upsized it with the width/height html stretching.

If you're on Firefox you can disable the blurring of sprites by doing this. There may be other ways to avoid the blurring by now, but this is one that I know. I'm sure half the AGS'rs don't have blurry sprites because they've disabled it.

You can also right click to view the image, but you'll only see it as 320x200 instead of the upscaled size that Nightfable has uploaded hers.

In the mean time I've uploaded a larger image.

Flubly

Yeah, I think you definitely gave it more dimension.  Especially the shadow that the house is casting behind it.

Nightfable

Thanks Ryan, I'll keep that in mind for my backgrounds.  :) Did you smooth it over with an airbrush tool?

Ryan Timothy B

I pretty much just went over all the existing shadows with a low opacity wide brush, and touched up a little here and there. Hoping I wouldn't destroy the image. :P

I absolutely love the artwork in this thread. Are both the Lolotte and Rosella portraits original artwork as well?

Really beautifully drawn, richly coloured backgrounds that give the EGA originals some depth.

Please post more of your artwork!

Gabriel_Down

Hey, nice artwork. I know myself another little girl who'd go nuts for a kq4 remake so if I'm any help count me in. Sadly I'm just a composer so I'm not a big help but whatever! Hope you get to finish that!

Nightfable

Thanks guys! :D We'll eventually make a "In production" thread for this remake and post more screenshots and other graphics. We're currently working hard on finishing the intro, then we can hop on to the demo.

Is this still alive?

The stuff looks great.  I think you should contact MMGames and see if they want you on their team.  It seems pointless to have 2 remakes going, because fan projects don't often get finished and it would really suck if neither this or the MMGames one got completed.

They have good programmers, but IIRC they need help in the art department in general.
...yeah

That'd lose points with those of us who don't like the fact that KQIX-Team/King Alexander is part of the Magic Mirror project...

yeah, but it would gain points for everyone else. (because there would be a much better chance of completion, and the work would probably be better all together)

*pssst! this is atec from the tsl forums*

First of all, KQIX is probably dead. Dead as a doornail. But assuming it isn't, are you saying that just because someones involved in the production of a game that you like is also working on a game that you are not in favor of, you should abandon the "good" game. What kind of logic is that?  ???
