Bump and reposting here:

We need a drummer. He/she must have an acoustic set and must be capable to record them. Ability should be somewhere in the "beginner-moderate" region. For details, contact one of the band members or post here. Thanks

Welp, after a three and a half-hour-long meeting, we've finally managed to pick out a name for ourselves, and it is...

* drumroll *

PIXEL HUNT

Tuomas

I've got plastic bongo-drums and a laptop-microphone. Will you accept me?

ShiverMeSideways

BUMP! We've finally released our first songs! Two covers! Check first post!

Anian

This is pretty sweet.

And is that a Steam message sound at the end os Space oddity?  ;D
I don't want the world, I just want your half

Calin Leafshade

Sounding good guys (and lady).

Some thoughts:

The singing is nice but I wish it was a little less passive at times. Thats not really a criticism of the vocalist but rather that you may have chosen the wrong songs to covers. For instance, Comfortably Numb really requires a very strong voice in the chorus and Noa's voice doesn't seem to fit that well. Noa's voice would work excellent in a folk or acoustic rock setting. Even psychedelia would work. (See Espers, Beth Orton, Bat For Lashes, Gregory and the Hawk)

The mixing is generally well done, especially the lead guitars which are always cutting and clear without being harsh. My only criticism is that the vocals sometimes get lost. Maybe patching the vox into a sidechain of a global compressor would help.

The only other thing I noticed is that the timing is a little off. It seems to mainly be the acoustic guitar but the drums might be contributing too.

Well done though guys! I'm impressed you pulled it off.

voh

I'm not a fan of Pixel Floyd, so I can't say much about that cover, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Space Oddity one.

I'm wondering though, you're looking for a drummer but there's drums in these? Programmed?

Calin mentioned timing issues - they're not big, but they're a little off from time to time.

BUT. As your first two songs, and given that it's an internet project, I have to say this is really rather good :D

Keep goin'!
Still here.

Snake

Thanks for your comments and critiques, guys :D

After all the time spent on them, which included the goofing off, swearing and clusterfucks, it feels great to have these two songs finally out there!

\\--EDIT--//
Yes, the drums are programmed by Dan for the time being.

\\--EDIT2--//
Also, Dan, Facebook doesn't let me listen to them all the way through. They both stopped at a minute and 40 something.
Could just be my computer?
And on Reverbnation, in the "Basic Information" box, Dualnames is cut off like a bastard child ;)

Grim: "You're making me want to quit smoking... stop it!;)"
miguel: "I second Grim, stop this nonsense! I love my cigarettes!"

gameboy

Pretty good covers, especially Space Oddity. Can't wait to hear your original compositions!

Life is like an adventure without the pixel hunts.

Snake - Both the MySpace and ReverbNation profiles set up on Facebook play perfectly on my PC, so I don't know what the problem is for you. Maybe it won't work if you're not logged in with Facebook? I dunno, the Internet is still a strange beast for me that acts randomly because it can, so I have no solution for you at this time about that :( . But since nobody else has complained about it, I guess it's fine. Besides, you don't need Facebook to listen to the whole songs ;D

About the ReverbNation profile, it's been fixed. And speaking of RN, apparently, we've risen to the 106,477th position in the global Rock charts! (that's a +48,047 increase 8) ). Yeah, I know nobody cares, but baby steps and small victories, people! :D

Regarding what people have said, thank your very much for your input! However, I must disagree with Calin, but my view might be a bit eschewed due to my being part of the band, but I feel that I must say that we do not perceive Noa's voice as you've described it to be. Quite the contrary, I believe I speak for everyone in the band when I say that we're having a great time collaborating with her and we feel that her voice is quite powerful and a perfect fit for our songs (covers or otherwise). Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion. :)

Cheers!

Dualnames

Regarding noa, I must say I can't believe she's part of this, that's how big my respect for her as a person and an artist is.

Buckethead

I'm no expert but these songs sound really professional! A job well done guys and girls! I do agree the vocals could do with a bit more spice at times. But I for sure can't sing so I'm still very impressed.

arj0n

tzachs

I am now officially your fan!
I hope that will help you reach the 30,000s in reverbnation, it might help if some more people become fans though (hint hint)  ;)

ShiverMeSideways

Thanks, Buckethead, Arj0n, and Tzach!

A very special thank you to Tzach without whom we wouldn't have met Noa! :D Be sure to like us on Facebook as well! ;D

About our first original song, I'll say this (in order to generate some hype): it is, basically, a combination of all our musical tastes into a pretty epic track! It definitely represents us!
