GARAGE
Fix it up, tune the look, go for a sweet ride!

This month, we are exploring your favorite tinkering hub: the GARAGE. Sometimes grimy and splattered with oil, other times laboratory-clean. Messed up with a variety of tools and trinkets, or bare as bone. Usually though, sporting some sort of awesome vehicle.

Please design and illustrate some kind of room to house a vehicle, whether it's a car, bike, airplane, submarine, space ship, or why not a spotted dragon. It can be whatever you like, as long as it reasonably fits a means of transportation.

This Blitz is largely inspired by the currently open Sprite Jam: Original means of transportation. It's highly encouraged that you enter that competition with a sprite of your creative vehicle, then enter this one to design a home for the vehicle you made. The deadline for the Sprite Jam is August 31st, so you'll have an additional three weeks to do the Blitz.

Ride on!

Deadline: September 21st

Judging criteria:

Concept: Is it a creative interpretation of the theme that also tells us something about the world in which it takes place.
Playability: Does it have clear walkable areas, things to interact with, etc.?
Artistic execution: How well was the chosen style executed? What's the feeling of the place? Does the image convey the wanted atmosphere?

AI rules:

  • The AI input must be something you personally created, whether a sketch, photograph, collage, etc.
  • The image output from AI must be then significantly altered by you.
  • You must share all three (or more) steps: a) your input, b) the output and c) your final altered version – preferably within a spoiler-block.
  • You do not have to share additional prompts used.

Got a nibble. I wrecked my rickshaw and started building a repair shop:

The clutter in the shop is going to take a while for me to "build." May run out of steam, as is often the case.

Modeling and rendering in Anim8or, and used some textures from Eric Matyas' site.

Edit: So, I went to work and created a mess for myself. Made a poor process decision early on. I could probably correct it, but I'm not likely to do it in my current frame of mind. Therefore, unless I cool down, consider this my entry. I know there's a lot of time left, but I gave myself far more workspace to fill with things than any sane person should ever do.

Edit2; Calmed down enough to try some things, including turning the saw on if you look closely:

Sorry for taking over the thread. Here's what I currently have:

Only three frames in the gif file. Needs more to make my fire look more realistic. Anim8or has something that might help, but I need a missing .dll file, and I'd need to figure out the plug in. Or see if something in AGS might help. At any rate, more research is required. This may be as good as it's going to get?

Side question: Is this resolution, 800x300, usable in-game? I was thinking along the lines of a scrolling room.

Sure, since AGS accepts any resolution. Your game could be at 480*270 - a usual 16/9 ratio.
