Allright - I'm pleased with the bullentin board and the pictures, but the filing cabinet is wierd, I know. I was thinking of a clotheshanger somewhere in the office too, but I don't know where to place it...
Any tips are welcome.

The drawers don't follow the perspective of the cabinet. Compare for instance the bottom line of the bottom drawer with the bottom line of the cabinet below it.

Listen, if you want do do this, but this will do some major changes( in the way it wont be the same :))
Anyway, if you want to, move the desk vertically, if you know what i mean, so we can see the side, and the put the filing cabinet morerigt, next to the table, in that way you should be able to make more space for the clotheshanger...
Or if not, you can always put the cabinet right (next to the table), and the bboard left, and you can still have room for a c-hanger.
And about the perspective, try do have it paralell(sp?) with the desk sides...
And yeah, thats a nice bboard.

You have to set up a vanishing point and make sure all lines are drawn to it. You can read up on it here.

Basically, all your lines are all over the place. It looks goofy and unreal. Here's a perspective overlay, maybe this will help you see what I mean.

Neole

I like the new office. The filing cabinet isnt straight, but it will work even if you dont modify it.

Rincewind

 D · Y · D · O:
Yeah, I see that now. I'll try changing them...

Czar:
Ooh, I don't know - This is how I imagined it, and I like the way it looks now, so I don't think I will try and rearrange the room totally.
But thanks for the tips anyway.

Dr. Awesome:
Hey, that's great! I'll try and correct the perspective according to those lines.  Thanks a lot!

Neole:
Hehe, thanks... ;D

QuoteAnd I actually did a rack of postcards for the counter, but it looked like some robot martian with serious anorexia or something...
\o/!

Can't wait to see the new version and I also liked the update you did. I think the onlythings you could have done were put the coat rack to the far right behind the desk. The perspective of the cabinet is a tad off like you mentioned, but I think it's fine. If I were playing this game I wouldn't be worrying about it at all. It's fits the style anyway.

(you'll be getting the new LE Ideas List soon...)

Well, it's true! I'm not joking here, it looked seriously messed up.

I'll keep on working on these two backgrounds quite a bit, since they are locations you will visit quite often, which means I want them to look as good as possible...
I've also been working on a map screen, which I will post later.
So just get ready... Hehe.

(And I'll send you my new ideas soon, too - It just took me a while for it to sink in... :) )

noed

Maybe it's just me, but nothing says office like a nice potted tree. ;)  Also, is it just me, or does the cash register look like it is about to fall off of the counter?  I'm not sure why, but I'd guess it's either a little tall, or maybe it could be smaller width wise.

Rincewind

Hehe, a potted plant is a nice idea, noed. I might take you up on that.
I could use it as a foreground silouette, if nothing else... ;D
And I think the cash register lookslike it's about to fall off because its edges are so close to the edges of the counter. I'll try to fix it.
Thanks for commenting!

some suggestions for the office (I'm just looking at my surrondings) :
a water machine, a fire estinguisher, a waste basket, another chair, some sheets of paper on the floor, an air conditioner machine, a plug outlet on the floor, lots of closets...
for the desk (looking at my always unclean desk):
a cell phone, coffee stains, lots of pens and pencils, a plastic cup of coffee, a stapler, a calendar, lots of yellow stickies, another calendar, a paperglue stick, an ashtray, lots of clips, and an infinite number of sheets of paper of different sizes, magazines, newspapers in a complete mess.. (yeah, I do have a large desk)... oooh, and the PC, keyboard, mouse, of course...

...

Rincewind

Ratracer:
I tried doing a water machine, but as I said, I never got it to look good enough.
But thanks a lot for all the suggestions! I'll see if I'll include some of them.
(There's already a blue cup and some coffee stains there, though... ;D )

Rincewind

Well, here's another minor update:

This one I'm quite pleased with actually - The plant and the hatstand fitted better than I thought. Not quite finished yet, though... I might add some more things on the desk.
The waste basket is a bit concering, though - Is the grey to bright compared to the rest of the room?

Czar

i dont know why, but this one looks great...
Anyway, if you say its still not finished, you could add more of those "front details" , the ones that are just for decoration on the front of the screen, and if you could( but dont bother :)) to make it more blurry...
Anyway, keep it up.

Rincewind

Heh, thanks!
Well, it's mostly finished, but you know how it is, you suddenly think of something, and think "I have to add that!"... ;)
I was mainly thinking about making the desk messier, but I might add some foreground stuff as well...

noed

If the waste basket bothers you, you might try making it more of a wire basket, as opposed to a solid basket.

Rincewind

Hm, yeah - That might be a good idea. I've never been good at wire ones, but I'll give it a try... ;D

ratracer

this last one has a lot more feel to it, good improvement...

it probably still needs some twiking up in the overall composition, but to me it looks fine already...

Cerulean

The key to getting those mountains to obviously be mountains is color. At the moment, even if you realize what they're supposed to be, they look like piles of construction dirt three feet away. A large, very distant object like a mountain has a lot of air between it and your eyes, which gives it a blue tint. The further away it is, the more blue haze there will be. So, if you recolor your mountains a soft blue-grey, they will visually recede into the distance more appropriately.

Rincewind

Ratracer:
Thanks!

Cerulean:
Hey, that's a great tip! I never thought about that.
I'll try recolouring them at once!
