First of all, there is no reason as to why we wouldn't be able to hold 2 mittens, one in Europe and one in North America, during the summer of 2004.  If the Europeans want to have a Mittens next year and catch up with all their new buddies, then more power to you all.

This thread will aim more to those who are considering coming to the Northern American Mittens 2004.  If the Europeans want to join in, which I'm sure they will, then we can add that.  Starting now, I'd like to make a map of people in our community and figure the best places to hold such an event for us Americans.

I'm going to look around some places where I live for campgrounds with perks such as showers and internet access.

So only post just these things, you are not obligated to fill it all out, but the more you do, the better planning can be done.

My Name is Scott (Scummbuddy) Nichols.
I'm 19 now, will be 20 years old come summer time.
I live in Maryland.
I can travel pretty much around the country.
I would prefer Mittens to be on the Eastern seaboard somewhere.
I'm currently looking for places to house at least 20 people in my area.

I think that depends on the amount of Europeans who will be able to attend the American Mittens. After all, I am sure you American fellas would want to meet people such as CJ and Chrille.

I think it's a bit early for a list, ain't it?
But whatever, I might be moving to either New England or Southern California next year, and I'd like to come, but I don't think it's likely. Possible, though ^_^.

Mittens in North America would be great. Honestly, it should be in Oklahoma. There is a lot of remote places perfect for holding Mittens. Maybe even govern a Mittens on the Norm city.

The reason there would only be held one mittens a year is so that most of us can gather in one place. If we seperated it off into two mittens then we would be split and wouldn't get to meet as many AGSers. If mittens were to stay in one place every year, two mittens might make sense. But because every year it take place in a different AGS dominated area, it only makes sense that there would be one. You simply don't have to go to each one. Does this bar you from not being able to get together on your own with some AGSers? No. Gloves is a sacred event, just talk to some people and gather your forces and a Gloves is born.

What we really really need to get the ball rolling is people with facts and figures on money of a camping site or other lodgings. Who thinks they can host it, and from that list we should pick where to go for Mittens2004. The east coast is probably most desirable for attracting a better mix of AGSers who aren't in the USA or in the Americas. However, if we only find people in other areas who are able to host it elsewhere, we will have to make do.

So instead of people posting where they live, where they can go, and where they prefer. We first just need people who can post with information. And then, with that information we can gather intelligence as to what the general concensus is on where Mittens will be hosted.

Do has anyone looked anything up and have some hard facts?

If there was an American Mittens, than all the Americans who went to Mittens this year might not go to Europe :p.

Where you live: Westport, MA (Bordering RI)
Where you could travel to: Anywhere within a 200-300 mile radius
Where you would like Mittens to be: Somewhere in New York, if not Massachusetts
Can you help locate places in your area for places to stay?: There are several campgrounds nearby, especially in Lake George, NY area, where we can rent several cabins.

The thing is, I might or might not be able to come. If I can come, it won't be for very long. I am already planning a one-week vacation to Portugal using my vacation time, and anything beyond that will be unpaid and hard to get.
Status: Trying to come up with some ideas...

This was brought up before and after much conversing and talking like this it was decieded it is better to hold it in one place.

Not saying it can't be changed but hey...at least wait for those who are actually at mittens and would probobly have the best opinions on it are back before doing anything...

I think you'll find a lot of Europeans are planning to go to America, and many will - which is a shame because no American's came to Europe this year.

However, if by North America you mean New York, then yes, a lot of us will be there.

Well, there's a very slim chance that I might be in America at the time Mittens will be held next year, and that maybe I'll be able to get there.
Very doubtfull though.
Still, for your map:

Where you could travel to: Umm Israel? :P and america I guess(next year). I doubt I'll be able to go somewhere esspeccially for Mittens (in fact I'm sure I won't).
Where you would like Mittens to be: See above.
Can you help locate places in your area for places to stay? Hmm, there are hotels here of course but generally, other than that, no I'm afraid not.

Gosh that was pretty useless wasn't it? :P

On a side note though, Scummbuddy, my uncle lives in Maryland. ;)

Where you would like Mittens to be: Upstate New York,
for preference. (And not just because I live in the state)

Can you help locate places in your area for places to stay?: Sure.  I've never done anything like that before, but I'd be happy to help.

Where you could travel to: At the moment, not many places outside of Colorado. Hopefully by next year, I'll be able to go anywhere, especially if I start saving now.

Where you would like Mittens to be: Colorado, of course!

Can you help locate places in your area for places to stay?: Oh, definately. Colorado has some great camping spots. Blue Mesa is my favorite camping area and it would be good for a large, noisy group since it's out in the middle of nowhere.

AGA

I think a US Mittens should be held in New York, or Washington, or one of the larger cities.

To the Europeans and other countries not of USA, of course we would be glad for you all to come.  I just supposed that flying across the ocean would be too much, so I figured you shouldn't have to miss out, but by all means please come.  New York may be our best bet, especially if it helps out more Europeans to come.

Yeah, I live near Washington, like AGA said, or we do have several New Yorkers, or of those thereabouts.

Where you could travel to: East coast
Where you would like Mittens to be: NY
Can you help locate places in your area for places to stay?: Yes, Wales is a bit far outside the US though.

Considering the amount of europeans at mittens who said they'd go to mittens 2004 even if some don't show up we'll likely rival the americans in terms of numbers.  NY would be by far the cheapest for us I think.  If we go we'll probably stay on for a bit after mittens, it is a long way after all.

Mittens wont be in the USA if Osama and Saddam blow up the white house, right?

Pumaman

I think it's agreed that there will be only one Mittens 2004, and it will be in the USA. From discussions at this year's mittens, it looks like most of us are fully prepared to go to the USA next year (pending having the cash, of course).

The east coast would probably be the best bet, perhaps upstate New York as someone suggested earlier.

??? what are you talking about? Why would something like that effect whether we held mittens?
