The two things don't link up; comments aren't designed to be edited, so they aren't shown on the edit votes screen.  If you want to replace a comment, a game page admin (like yourself!) will need to delete the existing comment.  The four votes you've given this year all still have associated comments?  Can you give an example of a game where your comment seems to have disappeared?

At least one person has managed to nominate the same game for multiple Best Characters now, although it wasn't heltenjon.
#123
Submitting multiple nominations for the same game in Best Character should work now.  There is an issue where it will show the first character's name multiple times if you reload the form to nominate again, but please rest assure the correct nominations are being stored in the database.

If we were interested in finally going ahead with 2020's booking, the place sleeps up to 10 people, and is still available plenty over the summer.  Bookings have to be made Friday - Friday, just to warn you.  £2,750 total for a week.

I've hacked in even more explanation of what should be in the YouTube field, and set it to repeat this if they submit something in the wrong format.  Very heavy handed, but hopefully this'll reduce the issues medium term.

Quote from: AGA on Sat 06/01/2024 11:33:41The 'community' FAQ will be revised in the new version of the site

Is there actually any progress on that, BTW? It's been a couple of years without any news, I believe.

Exponentially more, recently!  I don't want to promise any sort of a release date, but we're so much closer than before.  There will still need to be months of UAT cat-herding even after dev work finishes of course, so don't hold your breath!

Quote from: Snarky on Sat 06/01/2024 12:08:07I suspect this is a hurdle that keeps a lot of games out of the db, since it seems to trip up nearly everyone who's doing it for the first time—recently @Wesley when trying to submit a demo to be eligible for the AGS Awards before the new year's deadline.

I'm aware of the occasional YouTube ID issue, but unless people bring issues directly to my attention it's pretty much impossible for me to fix them.  I don't see any post from Wesley in this forum for instance?

The YouTube one I'm really not inclined to change, since it's 100% user error; the instructions on how to do it correctly are on the page!  Sure there's an argument the site isn't designed well if user error causes a system error, but dev work on the old site is extremely painful, so the less I have to do there, the better.  In order to add a game to the site you have to be registered on the forums, so it's not like they don't have easy access to support if adding their game goes wrong...

Quote from: Crimson Wizard on Wed 03/01/2024 05:40:22Alright, a user hinted me that the "legal" page is linked from the "AGS FAQ" page:
https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/ags/faq/

And *that* page is outdated like for 2 decades.
Probably no one cared to update it. Should point to the link on the git instead.

Two different audiences, I think.  The one on the site is more community focused, while GitHub's is far more technical.

I'll update the legal links.  The 'community' FAQ will be revised in the new version of the site, and I'll make sure there's also a link to the 'technical' FAQ!

The last Mittens was in 2019; we had one organised for 2020, but it was cancelled due to Covid.  Since then we haven't been able to organise one succesfully, so let's try again!

Does anyone have any suggested locations?  The last one was meant to be in The Cotswolds, England.

Also when?  @tampie85  and I have a school aged child, so would prefer this be during the summer holiday (23rd Jul - 2nd Sep).

There's also the question of said child.  Does anyone have a strong opinion on whether or not children should be allowed to attend?  Our son is very well behaved, a good sleeper, so unlikely to be much of a bother!  We could look into alternative accommodation nearby if it's a definite no though.

Turns out imgur doesn't allow its use to host avatars.  You'll need to find another image host.
#130
Max avatar size is 120x120px.  The one you're trying is 1024x768 so is 1) far too large, and 2) not a square.

Quote from: Cassiebsg on Thu 31/08/2023 23:49:15Now that I´m here, how do I find the forum thread number? The url doesn't show it anymore.

Top left of each thread, there's a button with a # symbol.  This'll give you the old-school link, like https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=58575.new#new for this one.

Quote from: 4KbShort on Sun 23/07/2023 17:48:12I wanted to try my hand at offering up some art for the website.
Here's my take on Number 4 and Number 3 respectively for the Nominee and Winners of the AGS award:

I have the SVG files these came from and would gladly pass them along to be edited/resized if there's any interest in them.

Looks good, thanks!  https://new-site.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/game-details.php?user=signed-out&vote=no&comment=no&theme=light (light theme) and https://new-site.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/game-details.php?user=signed-out&vote=no&comment=no&theme=dark (dark theme).  It would be useful to have the SVG, yes, please.

Quote from: Crimson Wizard on Wed 12/04/2023 11:20:19Is it normal that the tables do not have any borders on the new forum?

Example:
https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/modules-plugins-tools/attn-plugin-authors-gathering-plugin-sources/msg636479467/#msg636479467

This is how it is in the theme, yes.  Not a deliberate choice, just something we missed.  We'll try to get around to tweaking it at some point!

PHP was configured to the default timeout on the server, I've tried increasing it to see if that makes any difference...

Quote from: Khris on Fri 09/06/2023 10:39:24Here's code that fixes these broken links:

Code: javascript
  document.querySelectorAll("a.bbc_link").forEach(a =>  {
    const parts = a.href.split(/\/\/\//);
    if (parts.length > 1) a.href="//" + parts[1];
  });

Yet more @Khris magic!  I've implemented this, thanks.

Facebook.co.uk (facebook.co.uk)

https://www.facebook.co.uk

Works fine if you type an actual URL, so do that!
#137
There is a whole new version of the site in the works, which will address a lot of useability issues like that.  Watch this space!  (Possibly for a long time, I do have a day job too!)
#138
A usual culprit for this is people trying to include a YouTube link with the full "https://youtube.com/" address, rather than just the video ID as specified on the page.  Did you do that?
#139
Yeah, sorry, the MediaWiki plugin we use to understand forums logins was previously bugged.  Luckily it was patched not long ago.
#140
I think it's fixed now?
