No, I just accidentally checked whether a game had an AGSA entry the wrong way!  Fixed now.
#1342
Okay, now all games with an AGS Archives entry (e.g. http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/276/) have a link to the relevant AGSA page, assuming said page has a download link.
#1343
If you mean the AGSA bit, that'll all be done with database queries.  It'll take a few minutes when I get the chance to take a look at it.  Not something anyone but me can really do!

There are over 1000 files available in total.  I'll make sure only AGSA pages with download links are linked though.

Huh, that's silly.  I've removed the ICQ data for all users now, since as you said, it's not meant to be visible anymore.

So I had a cunning idea.  As the AGS Archives database is stored on the same server as the main site's, I wrote a thing that picked out all the games in the AGS database that are also in the AGSA database, and identified the URL on AGSA.  Give me a while and I'll make this visible on the games page.  All 953 AGSA pages will shortly be linked on the relevant AGS games page's page.

The broken download links list contains only reports from users/members as far as I know. In each entry the link 'If the download link or mirror link doesn't work, please report it.' --> then confirm broken link.
Would it be possible to automate this? For instance, a script could automatically open all URLs and see which ones (1) return either a 404 or a Domain Not Found error, (2) go directly to an EXE file, which is assumed to be the valid download, or (3) show a webpage presumably containing a download link. The latter category would still have to be checked manually eventually, but this could be a big timesaver for categories 1 and 2.

It's not as simple as that though.  For instance, I believe a RapidShare / MediaFire type page would return a 200 status code even if the download was no longer valid.  A lot of the games page links don't link directly to the games files, they link to the download from the page linked in the games database.  And recursing links automatically is both tricky and potentially dangerous.  Plus there are a lot more status codes than just 200 and 404!  There are about 600 direct links to .zip, .rar and .exe files, which would be easier to mirror (and mark as valid) automatically, but the other 2/3 might have to be done by hand.

There are plans for local storage, and AGS Archives integration.  That will be no small task though, so don't hold your breath!

So before I disable all the games that have either a broken image or a broken download link, can I just check that still having a broken image link means the download link is also broken (so nobody was able to download it and create their own screenshot)?

I've edited the imagecheck and downloadcheck pages to include a link to PM the author on the forums, or to email them.  This obviously only applies where someone has been credited for the game, which isn't always the case.  I also added http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/bothcheck/, which only shows games where BOTH image and download links are marked as broken.  All these pages are now only accessible by games pages updaters, since there's private email addresses included.

Just change margin-top under #main_menu to -15px instead of -20px..
It should sort out the menu overlapping the header.

This doesn't stop the link appearing to the left and right of the image though.  Still makes hitting the collapse button tricky.

Get a better phone!  Phone specific designs are unnecessary if you use Opera Mobile and have a decent sized screen.  I have my phone set to identify as desktop to avoid those dumb simplified for-phone designs.

Weird.  I just deleted the original on the server, and it worked.  No obvious reason why!
#1354
It is important, since it's behaving a way it shouldn't! :P

Could you upload the image you wanted to apply, so I can work out why it isn't working?

I explained this multiple times.  It's due to a database glitch.  You need to edit any post that uses non ASCII characters, replace the character with the same character again, and save.  This will then store the post in the database in the proper format (charset).

My entire entry for Troopers Tech Demo can be deleted, neither me nor anybody I know has the game anymore, there is no image either and it's 7-8 years old and way outdated anyways.

The first entry (2 Dennis, 1 Bug) can be deleted as well. According to the MAGS thread of dec 2011, there's never been a successful release of this (controversial) game.

According to this thread, 'Gerald Radcliff I' probably never saw the internet either.

Perhaps it'd be best if you would handle all the deletion requests, AGA?

(From some posts prior: I think it goes without saying that we don't edit "AGS Panel Review" entries!)

AGS Panel Review
"File downloads, but is corrupt. Marking download as broken."

The 'AGS Panel Review' comment might have to be adjusted?
The above was intended exclusively as info for the AGS Panel that the entry about that corrupt download was outdated.

Done also.

I did set up the disabling thing, at least from my perspective (the user side can wait!).  I've now disabled those five.  The entries will still be in the db with all the original info if the authors ever want to reenable them.

CTRL-SHIFT-R should force a hard refresh in most browsers, no need to go closing windows.

Not really, it's just the search functions don't work very well.  I've been meaning to rewrite them at some point to get them perfect, but never got around to it.  Will do soon!
