Hey, the site was down for what felt like years when the Underdogs folded.  A few weeks' downtime is nothing!

Not sure the exact workings, since MediaWiki and SMF are both huge, evil monsters, but it's quite possible the realname only updates when your session refreshes.  You can manually change the real name field in the wiki options to force it to sync with the forums if you really want.

Think I found a MediaWiki extension that does what you want.  Not sure if the link will point to the correct realname user page though?

Sorry everyone about the hosting glitch.  Shouldn't happen again!

Sounds like a plan, Tramponline!  Hopefully a lot won't need to be rewritten *too* much.  Aside from some interface changes and added features, AGS and its community hasn't changed all that much for years.  The beginners' info shouldn't involve too much change, hopefully.

I have the manual source files (as I believe does everyone, since they're included in the AGS source?).  If someone wants to document exactly the added / modified functions in the new version of AGS when it's done, it should be easy enough to update.  It would of course be preferable to have the offline and online manuals stay up to date with each new official version that's released.  Of course we could just change to a wiki based manual like so many projects use, which would allow the development team to make edits on the fly.  I think this was discussed the last time this topic came up?

It wasn't quite that, as apparently the dl wasn't opened properly in the right place either.  Seems to be sorted out now though!

I have a map too, and my own profile shows fine for me.  But then I'm not an ordinary user (not that you are either, but you don't see quite as much as I do).  This actually happens on both themes too.  I'll have a poke around in the code, see if I can work it out.

I like that summarized "In the beginning..." style summary of the Ezboard era.  What about the early days of the AGS board?

They're still available to read!  Although the very earliest posts aren't, unfortunately.

Jeroen Dekker was def and JD later by the way.  Don't think he's around anymore though.

Like I said, it only counts the posts that still exist.  So you may have 999 extant posts, but since that's between 950 and 1000 it won't show.

Honestly, I think having all tutorials on the Wiki would probably be a better idea.  That way, any member of the community can contribute, rather than it falling to me (or CJ).  One person being responsible is why most of the tutorials haven't been updated in five or more years!

If someone wants to start a project to actually update or add to the tutorials on the Wiki they'd be very welcome.  As information is transported to the Wiki, I'll change the links on the main site to reflect.  Having FAQs and tuts be maintained by the relevant members of the community would be much better.  For instance, I haven't been an AGS beginner for almost 12 years, so I have no idea how to write questions from their perspective!

I could probably use some cunning database trickery to include a précis of each FAQ / tutorial on the main page, if you feel it would be helpful to have some stuff included there.  Or just include the whole of the relevant Wiki article in the main site, so there's a 1:1 correlation.

Don't worry about it.  It's better someone lets me know and I fix it than it remain broken!

I think all the links should be fixed now.  If you want to take a quick double check though, that'd help.

The system works really well, yeah.  I just need to work out how to skin it to look like the rest of the site.
#1434
So the manual for 3.2.1 is now back.  It doesn't match the style of the rest of the site for the time being, but at least all the links work!
#1435
The manual uses the old site design, which links to a lot of pages and images that no longer exist.  I did have plans to recreate the manual using the new design, but never got around to it.

AGA can you add a stat that calculates the amount of posts I regret making?

Well I can tell you how many of them we regret your making...

Members possibly in the same range: nenomonkey, Osiris, Tom, Quickstrike, |Alky|, ZZjZmoz, WanderLady, Sola

None of them strikes me as the pranking sort though.

Or you were annoying and we deleted all your earlier posts

@AGA: please link this from the forum navigation bar, under profile or so. Of course for the stats of logged in user, not for your stats ;)

I can set the whole thing up as a forums plugin, so it'll look a bit more... appropriate.  I'll take a look at some point.
