Dunno what to tell you; the temp file thing is normal (that'll always happen while the full file is downloading), but the files download fine for me in Firefox!  Maybe try another browser?

Quote from: cat on Fri 28/03/2025 12:28:43I think the only problem was, that no-one MADE a better icon. What about having the background blue as the cup itself?

Blue or one of the other colours in the light theme colour palette might work best, as otherwise you have to contend with every browser (and OS theme) having a different background colour for a tab (which having a transparent background could end up clashing with (e.g. white outline on a white tab)).

OR have a light theme version with a certain background, and a dark theme one with another.  I could then dynamically serve a different favicon depending on the selected theme.

Great stuff, that's now implemented on the site.  Thanks for all your efforts on this!

Ooh, almost!  I'm really liking the latest version, but the one thing I notice now is the navbar at the top of the site now covers the top 60px of the image, meaning a little bit of the top of the island is covered up:

I think if you had say 75 - 100px of just empty background at the top, it might fit more comfortably?

I will probably also tweak the opacity a little to balance the visibility of the Create, Play and Join buttons, but I can do that myself once we've got the design nailed down!

Quote from: heltenjon on Fri 28/02/2025 19:39:36Another one about database maintenance:
Tres Acordes had three download links: game, store and demo. All three was reported broken. As all three were identical, I deleted store and demo and replaced the game link with a working one. However, in the AGS site report thread, the result is that the two deleted links are still listed as errors. Is it possible to automatically mark these as fixes when deleted? (I guess a workaround would be to add false link, checkmark, then delete, but that would be cumbersome.)
This problem still exists - when deleting a download option, the tag marking that it has been reported still is active. Example

I'm working on this!

Quote from: Creamy on Sun 23/03/2025 09:21:18Just a suggestion: I think it'd be nice to have a button allowing comments to be edited and removed by their author in the game page.
It could be useful in case, you know, commentators fail to see their comment and accidentally post twice (roll)

We decided years ago not to allow users to edit or delete their comments to avoid revisionism, and people going back and changing their opinions after the fact.  Plus, honestly, it would be quite a bit of effort to implement, while asking a games page admin to delete a comment is relatively easy!

Quote from: cat on Mon 24/03/2025 20:34:19I just tried to add a comment to a game but it was not accepted. The input was just cleared, no error message or anything. I figured out it might be "" that I used in the comment. When I removed them, it worked.
I know that you have to sanitize your input (hello Bobby Tables), but it should be escaped or there should be at least some error message.

Should be fixed now!

Thanks, @RootBound!  I'm liking this version, but perhaps it'd be better to have the monitor closer to dead centre on the screen (vertically and horizontally)?  Like have the monitor and logo be the focus of the image, and the other elements supporting it.  Currently the bottom of the monitor is cut off when implemented in the site, so it looks a bit broken.

Quote from: RootBound on Sun 16/03/2025 16:09:32Hello, so I played around with possible splash screen graphics. If it's not high-quality enough I understand. If the concept is good, someone with a stronger artistic background should feel free to run with it. I'm also fine with it being used for somewhere else on the website if there's still a place it might be needed.

Below is the original, followed by dark theme and light theme. All images are 1280x720 resolution at the moment.

I'd love to know what everyone thinks.

The amount of blank space is large because the mobile version of the website cuts off large portions of the sides of the splash image.

Definitely a nice start!  The one request I would make it to have the AGS monitor be dead centre in the image?  That way it'll always be visible regardless of the screen resolution, as currently it's cut off when you use a mobile viewport.  Could be nice to have the AGS logo be a centrepiece!

Short answer: yes!  Let me know exactly what RSS feeds you'd like to exist, with the content, formatting etc, and I'll throw them together.

@eri0o can you provide any help with cat's original report above, please?
#33
Looking at the zip you uploaded, it's quite possible the issue is that you zipped up the Web folder itself, rather than its *contents*.  The structure of your file looks like "Web\MAGSMan.ags", rather than the "MAGSMan.js" it's expecting.
#34
The site doesn't touch the game itself when you upload, all it does is run some security checks and unpack the files ready to be run.  So the game could be completely broken, but the site won't know, it *should* upload regardless.

Quote from: cat on Thu 27/02/2025 09:07:43As a developer, when I upload a game: where is this actually hosted? Is it on the AGS site itself? Or is this forwarded to another server? In this case, this should be stated more clearly, maybe with a link to their terms and conditions.

AGS site.

Quote from: cat on Thu 27/02/2025 09:07:43As a player on mobile, "Press ALT+ENTER to play the game in full screen, then ESC to return to browser." doesn't make much sense. I wasn't sure if it is possible to go to full screen on mobile. It might be a good idea to extend the the text a bit:
"Press ALT+ENTER to play the game in full screen, then ESC to return to browser. Alternatively, use the cogwheel icon in the bottom-right corner of the game." (or similar)

I'll try to tweak the wording!

Quote from: Kara Jo Kalinowski on Thu 06/03/2025 00:59:26When I try to upload a web version with a zip file, it just takes me to a white page and doesn't upload.

Are you following the instructions as given?  'Here you can upload a .zip file of the contents your "Compiled\Web" folder after selecting "Web" in the "Build target platforms" menu of the AGS Editor, then clicking "Build EXE".'  If so, can you please upload the exact zip you're trying to upload and I'll see if I can debug the issue.

One for @eri0o I'm afraid!  eriOo, I've tried using .focus on the <canvas> tag in the iFrame's onload, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Quote from: heltenjon on Tue 25/02/2025 22:21:29Just a heads up. I updated the not-working link for The Marionette and replaced it with a link to the AGS depository on archive.org. So far, so good.

However, saving a new link does not resolve the reported error. I went in to edit the game again, and was now told that the new link (that I had just entered) was the one being reported. I could checkmark it and mark it as resolved. This behaviour is somewhat misleading.

TL;DR
If you fix a download error, you have to edit again to remove the error report afterwards.

This should be fixed now for downloads, images and videos.

Right, reports should be a bit more visible now; game owners will get a PM and alert automatically too when the reporter posts in the reports board.

Quote from: Crimson Wizard on Mon 24/02/2025 22:03:15I don't know what is happening, but I currently see this below the forums:

Haha, my fault.  I tried to borrow 'user 0' on the forums for the AGS site reporting.  Apparently it was already in use for something else!  Should be fixed now.

Quote from: heltenjon on Sun 23/02/2025 15:47:13Many older games still have working http links.

HTTP is no longer actively supported, and most browsers reject it.  It really isn't wise to rely on it any longer.

Most of the games that are so old they have HTTP links have downloads in the archive.org repository.  Anyone can also upload to archive.org themselves if they're looking for stable HTTPS hosting in place of an old HTTP link.  I am aiming to integrate archive.org mirror links into the games page eventually.
