Chara design: Klatuu.
Creativity: Stylez75. I wonder how she can unbuckle her belts without hands :-D
Artistic appeal: Iamarobot.

Concept and artistic execution: Styles75
Playability: Babar

Nice entries everyone. The door of Potajito's lighthouse could be the same as the one in Babar's picture seen under a different angle.

Hints & Tips / Re: off the clock

Use the buttons on each piece to push them to the side. You should be able to leave an empty square in the middle. When you can completely see the core, just grab it.

A great endeavor. I like the new design  ;-D

Homepage:
Maybe show more games to emphasize the popularity of the engine. Perhaps the description/read more button could only appear when the mouse moves over a picture of a game.

QuoteThe things people are saying in the forums is gone, is this intentional?
I meant that little blank comic bubble that has Roger (I think?) face where it appears the 5 most recent forum posts. I think having things changing in the homepage improves SEO.

Quotetry to include a bit of the last 3 posts, recently added games, last AGS version released at... to show how active the community is. This is a major aspect of AGS and might influence if people decide to use the engine.

Yes. Since some common complaints about AGS seem to be that it's showing it's age or that development is slow, the new website should appear dynamic.

Game page:
As it's been said, it's nice but there's a lot of scrolling.
I'd suggest moving the comments up alongside "About".

QuoteHow to browse games? I don't see any games browsing section. As someone that has discovered first the AGS games, and later AGS, I really think that this part is very important. Right now it's not easy to browse the games database, so I think this is the perfect chance to redo this part. Users should be able to order the games by Popular, Top sellers, Top Rated, Most Recent, Most commented, or search by tags
+1. It could suggest other games to play based on similar tags / popularity /good votes.

Community page:
Some icons /flags/ pictures to make it more lively?

@Iamarobot: if you use the button "Insert Zoomable Image" instead of "Insert Image", we'll be able to zoom easily on your small picture. Nice parrot!

QuoteI felt it might be interesting to look back on some of these projects and share them with people, hopefully encouraging others to also share their lost projects.

Me too. Your post was a good read.

Quote1. He Watches
I've played the demo but I can't remember the details. Looks pretty.

I've often been guilty of what Fernewelten calls furnishing the rooms before the walls have been erected.
It can happen when you try to do teamwork for a tight scheduled competition.
You often start the game with only a basic concept hoping that you'll get more ideas later.

My failed attempts are sketchier than WHAM's but I'll share some of them nonetheless:

Quis separabit

A roman comedy-drama. The art was made by Godzillu. We got pretty far and produced a couple of demos. Yet the the story was convoluted and the game changed its tone a couple of times.
One day I watched the movie Pompeii from 2014 and realized that we had planned the same cliché ending for our game:
Spoiler
The title couple of the game is surprised by the eruption in the middle of a kiss.

Therefore we decided to change it for a more light-hearted and nonsensical one:
Spoiler
They dust off the ashes and resume their kiss.

Poor side of town

It's about an ex-Napoleonic soldier suffering PTSD. I made the graphics with Diablo II assets notably. I had planned a story with different ramifications and realized it would take too long to develop. It was very linear without much challenge.

Middle east project

Started with Blondbraid. A middle eastern city plagued with war. Some time travel involved. We probably swallowed more than we can chew and only had a vague idea of the plot.

Cultists project?

I mostly drew what WHAM asked me to so I can't really tell what the game is about  (laugh)

Here comes June,
I need a blurb soon.

Please recommand a hidden gem

The demo was nice. I look forward to the release.

Completed Game Announcements / Re: Desolate

Congrats on the release.

I tried it: got some key codes, found a weapon. The monsters are managable so far.

However, I'm starting to feel completely lost.  Admittedly, I don't a have a great sense of orientation. But I don't think I'll be able to handle all these similar rooms without any color. Is there a minimap somewhere?

Right. I'll send you the test game tonight. Thanks

Hello fine people behind the curtains,

I'm attempting a splitscreen game with 2 characters playable at the same time â€" just like the demo with the bridge.
The only difference is that my screen is split horizontally. You control one guy when the mouse in the upper part of the screen. You control the other when the mouse is on the lower part of the screen.

So far it works great and I managed to have a scrollable room where each camera follows each character appropriately.

I just have an oddly specific bug with the hotspots.

On "mouse over hotspot" I call a function to change the sprite of the mouse:
Code: ags
mouse.Mode = eModeUsermode2;

in "repeatedly execute always" I put this line to revert the cursor back when the mouse is no longer on the hotspot:
Code: ags
if (GetLocationType(mouse.x,mouse.y) == eLocationNothing) mouse.Mode = eModeWalkto;

My room is higher than the screen. These two lines work with both characters. With just one exception:

When I go to the upper part of the room with the character followed by the first camera, the hotspots still work - I can see their name and click on them.
However, the sprite of the mouse doesn't change.

Strangely, everything works perfectly with the second character followed by the second camera.

I tried to extend the room vertically with a big black space above the scenery to get around this problem but it doesn't work.

Do you have an idea of what may cause the problem?

Quoteit's been 20 years so its about time this game gets finished.
You're the persistent type  (laugh)

I'm surprised by the simplicity of your GUI - it's not necessarily a bad thing.

QuoteWorking on art overhaul for some of the crappier backgrounds i made all those years ago.
The original cave was fine in my view, although the new one may read more clearly.

Good luck on finishing this.

Concept: Hannah_Banana. So funny! I want to play that game  (laugh)
Playability: stylez75. Nice place. It gives me Stellar Mess vibes.
Artistic Execution: Hannah_Banana. I especially like the colors. In HD that'd be superb.

Some late reviews:

Quite long. I wasn't really sold on the story or the puzzles but I could proceed without much trouble.

Huggles Goes on a Trip by fernewelten
Spoiler
Fernewelten delivers once again a lengthy MAGS game.
Solid puzzles and decent graphics. The story was rather child-oriented.

I'm not sure how I feel about the female guard though.
Women have been subject to gender discrimination for centuries. In some countries or circles they still are. Staging a stupid misandric may come across as tactless.

Nice little game. Only half of my crew members were saved at first but I felt compelled to retry.

Thanks Kyriakos. I set it for May.

Having played the game myself, I just added this line : "Please don't skip the tutorial because the game features Quick Time Events."

Since there are only 2 votes, I'll add my grain of salt:
1st Lorenzo
2nd Misj'
3rd  Chomba

Which gives us the following result:
Gold medal: Misj' with 8 points.
Silver medal: Chomba with 5 points.
Bronze medal: Lorenzo with 4 points

A big thank you to all the participants. See you next round.
#378
Kudos to you Chomba!

I had no trouble with the strange lock and I thought it was a good puzzle.

However I'm stuck with the guard.
Spoiler
I don't get the logic behind her additions - if there's one. The obvious solution would be to sneak behind her shack while she went to use her calculator. But the game won't let me do that.
