Yeah, snow is fun. That's my car. When did I last drive it? Last night. When is this photo from? This morning. Notice that the wheels are under the "ground". I actually had to step down to enter my car.
I live too close to the polar circle. The weather report say this kind of snowfall for another week. You can keep building your tiny english snowmen!

QuoteWe had similar travails with a raccoon 4 years back.  We had to drive it 40km away to be sure he couldn't make it back.  Good luck with that river barrier!

He was probably a widdower with five starving kids. "Dad, don't leave us!". "I have too, son. But don't worry, I'll be back real soon. I promise."

You made a dad break a promise.

The composition of the new one is so much better. Really beautiful work!!

I have two kids. One 2.7 years and one 1.5 months.
My days are pretty much like the other doubble parents. If I get anything done it's usually between 23.00 - 00.30.
My youngest kid is a big sleeper. Only trouble is, she sleeps all day and wakes up right about the same time as my oldest goes to bed. Then, if I'm lucky, she falls asleep at around 23.00. And if I just get 6 hours of sleep, I manage the day. So then I press myself into an hour our so of work. But nights like tonight... when my daughters are crying in shifts... Gee. Just put a gun to my head. You carry around one of them and when you put her in her bed you got to go comfort the other one. And it goes on and on.
This wil probably change pretty soon though. This I've learnt about babys - just when you think you know how it works, it changes.

QuotePerhaps rather than MAGS give the competition a different name so it's not exclusively AGS related.

I disagree. If we explain the concept in-game it could be used as a little nice publicity for AGS and for the MAGS. Bring some new members!
Perhaps the game could consist of a series of minigames for building assets for your game (writing a little code, composing some music, connecting the dots of a drawing, i don't know!) constantly disrubted by distractions, depending on who you're playing as.

EDIT: Or maybe a blend of A and D?

That might be something. Will try it out!

And thanks for the feedback Cassiebsg!

Aaah... Inversion. Intresting.
Btw I just saw the image on another screen and realised it is probably lacking a bit contrast for some ;)

Thanks for the paintover Pablo!
some real good points there. regarding the face and hair colour - your absolutly right. So much right I stole the colours right of your paintover. I also love what you did to the shirt and the new shading on the suit - also right out stole it (hope that's allright).
However, I'm not so sure about the higher contrast. To me, a higher contrast on the suit makes it look more gray than black, and I want this suit to be a real black suit. A high contrast also make me feel like it's a material that reflects a lot, and that's not really what I'm looking for. I've heard the no "true blacks or whites" several times, but I don't really understand it to be honest. If anyone would like to explain why one shouldn't use them I'd be very happy!
Anyway, the purple looked really nice, but it didn't really work with my palette (there's lots of blues in the room (it's a one room game)), so I did a couple of alternatives that I'd love to hear some opions about:

Personally I'm leaning more towards the C or D. Whaddyall thenk? (B is yours Pablo)

Now I think the face needs a bit of rework to match the quality of the body. The close-up portrait shows a longer nose, going all the way down to the mouth, which is quite low on the face. The face itself is rather long with high cheekbones.

Your right Monsieur! But it so darn hard to express yourself with these little pixels. Please help (ergo, do it for me)?

I had forgotten this was released last year!
I honestly hasn't completed it yet, but the graphics are beautiful.

QuoteI would imagine most of us can relate to this. Making a game is tough... very tough. I'de like to hear how everyone else that isn't under house arrest, makes their games.

With a 2.5 year old and a 1 month old my solution is as simple as obvious: quit sleeping! Put your toddler on the shoulder, use the other hand to steer the mouse/tablet/keyboard and cut down your sleep to a maximum of 2 hours a night. It's great, I've got so much time suddenklaksddfgfd...... zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

But on a serious note, the setting/goal of the game could be to complete a MAGS! You have one month, and depending on diffuculty you have different obstacles (singelton - being hungover, married with 2 kids - trying to get your 2.5 year old in to overalls while she verbaly abusing you and your 1 month old is in her carriage all dressed, sweating and screaming, while your wife yells at you for always using bribery to get your oldest kid to do what you want). So you play the game on day at a time with different stages of development. Perhaps it's a very important mags with prizemoney which you need to support your family (Harharhar). So there's a sense of urgency in the game.

Ok, so already did a rework:

The colours feel better, but I'm still not sure about the legs and the balance.
Just for reference, this is he in high res:

Thanks cat!

QuoteThe colors of the suit should be better balanced - the dark one is really standing out while the mid-tone blends with the brighter color.

So if I understand you correctly, the mid tone should be more mid ;)

Allright!
So, I don't that much pixel art, so perhaps someone can give me some pointers!
I've been working with this:

I'm starting to like it, but I'm having some trouble getting the legs and shoes looking alright. Either stuf looks too straight or to bent. These damn pixels! Jsut so you know, he supposed to be slim (but jackets always give a little shoulder), tall, and have a little hunching posture. Anyways, all manners of critique, pointers, paintovers and tips would be most welcome! Thanks!

I'm up for graphics! But with my current work-rate I think the project would benifit from more of us in this department.
I'll also do Voice Acting if needed.

QuoteI was thinking along the lines of a Breaking Bad scenario - juggling the relentless life of an AGSer with the responsibilities of family.

I think I was imagining something similar. Dodge/taking care of lots of distractions to score seconds by the computer. That's why I though of the nappytime sequence from Bobo.

QuoteThere seems to be a few of us on the forums juggling AGS with a young family. Someone should make a game about this. (nod)

That's a great idea! Put together a team with parents and get it done in no time ;)
I'm definitly in.
I imagine the end product looking something like this game: Bobo
I can especially relate to the parts at 0:44, 2:50 and 7:10. Great game btw!

Good stuff!
I'd like to see an interview fully dedicated too how you manage to work on all this with two kids. I mean, technically and practically. What's the best drugs to make them sleep, how did you clone your self, what's your brand of coffee, stuff like that.

It looks like the distance nose-eyes is wider in the quarter views than in the profile and front view. Also the hairline feels litte low in the profile. Otherwise, good work!

I think it looks really good! Wish I could do that with 3d.
I does however feel like the jacket is a bit tight, especially in the arm pits in the back view. I'm also wondering if her shoulders perhaps are a bit broad? Otherwise I really like it.
