General Discussion / Happy Birthday mate!!!
Wed 16/02/2005 13:10:01
He stated not very well... It is said he annoyed some people, I can't remember who, but even Petter AKA Andail told it,  and Petter is a serious guy...

Actually... there was something in him that annoyed even me!

But he soon changed to a nice blue pixelart ball... and his paintings changed too. Firstly he seemed to be an artist with not too much love for sketches... The bodies he made were a little deformed... He improved a little when he started making an star wars game. I pointed that there mustn't be Tie interceptors in his "pre-hope" game, because they were developed between "strikes back" and "the return". Kind words for the help, but still no love.

Many people pointed that the eyes of his characters haven't still expression... He was good, but he was not in the olympus. (Like me, if you allow me to say such thing on my own...)

The I started a project (The million one I started) about nazis. He PMed, because as many people knows, we are not just modern neo-liberals, we're damn nazis and we love them.  ( ;D J/K). He made some sprites. I abandoned the project, but the Private messaging was since them more intense...

And then came JP and Cosmo. He finally developed his unique style, and he honoured me testing and accepting advises, which actually didn't helped, because the game was perfect in its own. He entered in the Olympus with Chrille, Mr. C, Yahtzee, Squicky and the others... Since them I can say he's "Teh AGS mate", the best friend in the group of AGSers that I haven't personally meet...

And now I am working with him and another friends in Team Hasselhoff. I'll try to do my best, but I have a stupid artist block. I Hope to overcome it and help. But anyway, we'll have lots of time to work in many things after ATC, because...

He is my friend!

Happy Birthday!

Dad has asked me to make a corporative logo.

The corporation is going to be called "New holydays"... And I've been told nothing else.

I don't know if my father is trying to test me for a design office or something, but I feel this is important, so... any paintover, suggestion or combitation (solid sun a with the ship of image 3, and all that...) should be welcomed.

Please, remember that the number of each logos is:

1,2,3
4,5
6,7

General Discussion / Violence in sports!
Tue 23/11/2004 12:43:07
Wow! What a mess! Let me explain the precedents... Our football national team coach is an elderly person... his head is bad ( ;D). For encourage one of the spanish players (Reyes, who plays in Arsenal) He shouted him "Tell him that shitty black man (Thierry Henry) that you're better than him"

Some weeks later Spain played against England in Santiago Bernabeu (Real Madrid's stadium) and the Madrid crowd found as a better way to have fun to imitate the sounds of the monkeys when a black English player was playing the ball.

I must say that I don't specially like the hooligans of Santiago Bernabeu (I am Barça fan ;)) neither do like Luis Aragonés, our coach (I think he's quite stupid and his ideas about football are like 30 years old fashioned), but I think this is going too far. Hasselbaink says that if he's insulted in his next match against Villareal he'll leave the field. Viera says we're racists and Luis Aragonés must be fired (I agree, but not for his stupid racist behaviour. Being fired a single stupid sentence in a training camp, when he thought he was not being filmed  is going too far, IMO) Clubs and/or federations can't avoid stupids to enter in their fields. Punish with 10 matches Roma because a brainless man threw a coin to the referee is too much (I don't agree with throwing coins, but... What should the clubs do? Prohibit coins???) I think that this punishements should be imposed if the Club do not put as much effort to avoid this or catch the infractors.

This weekend a 16-year old guy was killed a turkish field. If we follow the rule-of-three of 10 matches punishement for throwing a coin this turkish field should be closed... forever? I think that's too punishement for a club, specially if it's done everything in his hands to avoid violence. Now imagine that a hooligan of the X team decided that he wants to have the field of team Y (the main rival of team X) closed for 15 matches... Shouldn't that punishements become a call-effect for hooligans of the team X for punishing team Y? Who must we punish? The team whose fan caused the pain? the owner of the stadium? It's too complicate... Why not to put good camera system in the stadiums to condemn the fans, not the clubs?

Morons are morons. Killers must go to jail.... But Clubs shouldn't be punished if they've put all the efforts to avoid that... Dunno what do you think, but you cann all express your ideas, I think something similar happened with Chicago's basket club. In this case I wouldn't have punished the player with 30 matches (I am not for hitting fans, but maybe 5/10 matches or/and a big economic fine would have been ok...) Paying a ticket does not give the right to throw coca cola to a player.  :P

General Discussion / What about Darfur?
Sat 16/10/2004 12:33:19
Apparently, 70,000 people died killed by the Islamist militia in Darfur, and 1,500,000 people had to get away of their homes. The americans went to the UN calling the situation a hollocaust, and claiming for help to act, (cool, that damn americans come back to the UN)

Let's see if the UN works now.

A nice project mixing a time travel stuff I had in mind and Maniac Mansion came to my mind and I start making some remakes of the old DOTT images.

I need a bg with this odd upper perspective... I am going in the correct way? the plain below the house and the river are unfinished, as some of the parts in the house, etc... but I'd like most a crit of the perspective... Of course, if some old lucas' games fans are interested in being involved in such a take-it-easy-project make me know.

One day work.

Thanks.

UPDATE: A new image for the intro I have in mind.... It's Weird Ed, on his knees because his Hamster is dead. I know he has no arms, but they will be there, holding the dead body of the little poor animal... Am I going in the right direction?

And yeah! The cat of Shrek 2 inspired me...Ã,  :D

Apparently the Hurricane Jeanne has provoqued a seaquake which swallowed Tortuga Island... I just can hope this news won't be confirmed, because, apart from the love that such a piratish Island can make feel us to the AGamers, the most important data is that 26,000 people are (hope not "were") living there.

I don't know exactly what I am trying to make with this post, I am not following strictly the "think before you post..." thingie... I don't know why posting this can help. Maybe it is just a claim for comfort words from the AGS fellas... Anyway, seeing how the posts go, maybe we can take some nice conclussions.

I don't usually post here so early stages of a work, but I think I am really stuck here. I need to know how to paint the path... Maybe the mistake has been to paint that black mount at the left? How would you sollute the path? I'd like to make it in some earth style.

Pleaze help me, no matter how, changing the colours of the composition, making attempts with the path, removing the black little mounticle...

Thanks in advance.

I wonder if our countries are so different as they seem. I have a lot of answers to do. Do you really make that "parties" in the funerals, american guys? Do you really shake the hand of the girls? We kiss them twice! Do you really know guys who carry guns to school?

The same for the others... Do you see kangaroos while going to the work, aussies mates?

For enlight you about Spain...

We do not wear that "green wide wing hats" or some of that folkroric stuff
Nobody does it, just the people disguised as folkrorics in some neighbourhoods in Seville.

We do not fight with the bulls... Barcelona hasn't had a have a "Corrida" in 40 years, and the "Plaza" is abandoned... That's popular in Andalucía or Madrid. In my town we have one little "Plaza", but just because we're a touristic town, and we use it mainly for performances.

Except Andalucía or Extremadura, two or the "States" of the 17 we are, we do not have the typical spaniard image you have.

In my State we like "Paella" a popular dish with rice, but we're quite bored of it... There are like 10 VERY WELL ways to make the rice (There must be like 200 non so popular recipes) and we preffer that ones. One very popular is "Arrós a Banda" (Rice with fish served a part) or "Arrós negre" (Black rice, with octopuss' ink) or "Arrós amb costra" (Some kinf of rice inside an omelette)

The enviroment is mediterranean, a lot of pines, very desertic in the south except in some huge wet areas, such as Sierra of Cazorla, or Sierra of Gredos in Andalucía and very continental in the north (the enviroment is more wet, similar to Scotland, with rivers, grassy plains...)

My country is vert mountanee in Andalucía, the mediterranean and Cantabic bank, and of course in the Pyrynees.

The original population was iberic, Then came the latins, the goths, the muslims, and then franks, at the re-conquest. The basques and the celts in Galicia have remained since the beginning.

Any more questions?

I've seen the movie... Nice effects, I like when they're not too "noticeable". Some thins are exagerated, but, hey... It's a hollywood movie.

But I don't want to discuss about that... I wonder if such a climatic change could happen in such a short lapse of time.

The theory: Too many glacial ice is fused, too many sweet water in the sea, so the marine currents change bringing a new glacial era. My question...

a) Very likely to happen something simillar soon.
b) Very unlikely to happen something simillar soon.
c) It will surelly happen in the future.
d) It would never happen...

What do you think?

General Discussion / Kung Fu King!
Sat 22/05/2004 17:15:57
Our prince has married with a former jornalist! She'll be the first non-royal breed Queen in Spanish history (Which is cool, because endogamy was destroying our royal family...)

During the wedding:

Wohaaa! Kung Fu King!!! The first kid of the "Infanta" (Daughter of the King) practises their Kung Fu abilities! I think it's hilarious...

But this will work for starting a debate... What do you thing of monarchies? Are they old fashioned? What is your oppinion about "royalty" being married with "normal people"?

I think they're quite cool since with monarchies, there is no danger that the main authority of the State would be like Bush or Chirac... The problem is that this families may at least "look" honorables, and some times they don't (Camilla, I want to be your Tampax!"

Anyone?

Critics' Lounge / Water animation, again...
Tue 13/04/2004 15:02:37
Hello...

I know that people has asked before about water animations, and yes, I am a lazy ass and never saved that urls with that nice tutotials... I thought I was never going to need them, but hey! now an enterprise called Mappomedia hired me to make some backgrounds! And if I make them ok they'll pay me!

Here is what I get... My question is... is there a better way to do it? I would do it in a so much easier way with less colours, but I like that "oil painting" feeling... I remember sierra did it fairly well, are there any tutorials or something? Thanks for all, and, as it has black outlines, feel free to download the image, paint the river with a filling colour with a lot of tolerance, and make your attempt! It will be apreciated!

You know? Sometimes is good to laugh of yourself...

I'm the typo master. It has annoyed me often, but it's my fault, I've been the man who never really worried about learning how many "p" the word opinion has.

It's time to sollute that... In this week you'll have to opportunity to bring back that mistakes. Paint in the following frame...

...Something that can turn into something completely different because of one typo... The funnier, the better, but remember that the correct sentence has to be at the left and the uncorrect has to be written at the top, on the right space.

Have in mind that I'll punctuate... 100 points as much for the sprite quality, and 100 as maximus for how fun it is for me...

Each letter over the typical one-word typo will result in minus 5 points...

For example: If the sprite consists in me confussing shIp with shEEp (a two letters typo, instead of one) the maximus punctuation will be 195.

If you don't really like the topic, (you are "PirateJackish", we could say), the theme will be "SPORTS"... Feel free to paint an epic sprite of a sportman! (But have in mind that the maximus possible punctuation will be 180, my sprite jam, my rules, so, if you wanna win think in funny typos). Also have in mind that the size for this will necessarilly be smaller (100X100) as there's only one sprite to paint, not 2.

No more restrictions, animate them, use all the colors you need... and good Sprite Jam.

EXAMPLE:

P.S: All the spites will be punctuated ASAP, and you will decide the final winner if draws.
P.S.S: The typos can also consist in omitting letters, of course...

Hi there! I've been delaying this too many time... I need a company.

This is what came to my mind... many of you may remember the guy, it's form Ren & Stimpy, Aushor (?) posted it recently...

I am just a person with no imagination? Indeed, but when I saw the image I knew that was the guy... Bald (I needed a bald head to put the maze sprouting), middle age (I wanted to suggest he was an old adventure games player, coming directly from the 80ies...) and of course... he is amazed.

Any crits? The paint is ok? the name?

P.S: This does not mean I am going to abandon my current projects with SCOOBAR or TWIN-DESIGN, just that it's gonna be one more screen in room0.  ;)

EDIT: Thanks for the quick reply, but excuse me... "Jaggies"? Do you mean that the letters in angle look weird?, the pixles are too evident? Excuse my poor English...  :'(

http://goblin.scummbar.com/

Please, take a look to the previous URL. It's a page of a guy whose project is to make a Blood Island in 3-d (Sorry if this has been posted before).

I think it's awesome... And shows that cool things can be done in 3-d. Many old avdventures are reluctants about 3-d, but Grim Fandango is generally accepted as a good game. Monkey Island 4 generally isn't (Of course there is people who likes it, but we can say that at least 51% of the adventures don't like it that much...).

But the graphicals problems in MI4 can't be blamed to the 3-d, IMO... Look at the "sprite" of Murray.... It was awfull, three bloody polygons and no texture. The same for the pirates on Guybrush' ship, all the pirates were the same, and with the same and big-pixelled texture.

I don't know what happened to that guys, maybe they were in a hurry or something, but, even having a bad example with MI4 (IMO) 3d grpahics can be cool...

P.S. Ask Danny!  :)

I'm sure you have seen what that lovely graphic filters do with our old abandonware games... Some people may hate them, but I really like playing Day of the tentacle with that "high resolution" feeling. That filter comes default in ScummVM, but my question is... Is there something similar that we could apply for AGS games? IMO, it would be cool, and, if you don't consider it cool, you like big pixels or are a nostalgic, you can allways let them as they come.

And excuse me if the answer is too obvious, if there something for that very popular, I'm not very into software...
