General Discussion / Wow! UFO in Mars!
Mon 22/03/2004 09:50:20
The image shown two posts below (M0ds one) is a photo taken by the space probe "spirit"... It is a UFO, as long as it flies and hasn't been identified.

It can be a meteor, or one old space probe which is no longer operative, by the orbital path it has, it just can be the "Viking 2"

But naive people start to think that it's an Alien probe... I personally think it's not, but, hey! This is a gen gen forum, express your oppinion about aliens, extraterrial intelligence, visits from outer people and abductions!

I didn't really want to post this, I was actually revisiting my posting procedures for not bothering nobody with my thoughts... but I really like to read warm words from the AGSers. I this that the occassion deserves it.

There has been a terrorist jouney in Madrid, the capital of Spain. I can't really say how many bombs have exploded, but people talk of 5, 6... What I can really see is that three bombs have blew up three vagons of a local train, vagon full of people going to work, near hospitals, even scholars going to the high School. The brackdown of victims is now 131 (new figures, 146), and it can still grow... We're talking of the major terrorist strike in the European Community.

And I agree somewhat with the non-centralism complains of the Basques! I hope that even the people who agrees with terrorist fight must feel sick today.

I hope this is the first step to implement some kind of extraordinary death penalty... Maybe you are pure, and join strenght to post something like "You can learn to understand and think that death penalty does not help"... I would really like to be so pure as you, but I can't, I am weak...

-----------------------------------

Farlander presents:

In a creative association with twin-design:

ARIZONA SCOTT AND THE KING'S SWORD:

Apparently, although the War has started and only a few brave pilots stand between Hitler and the total defeat of Brittain, nothing has changed a lot in the Barnett College.

Marcus is again receiving Major Eaton, the agent of the intelligence service of the Army, who is, again, looking for Dr. Jones.

It seems that that crazy old buckett-head is now searching for the legendary sword of King Arthur, Excalibur!

There is only a problem... Dr. Jones is at Bolivia, and he won't be able to help the Free World this time...

Will be the newbie hero Winston Chester Arizona Scott be able to save the World without the help of his teacher, Dr. Jones???

------------------------------

As you can see, the preproduction has started, and I can't really say a lot... Just that I like the story and I won't give up, so, while I stay in AGS, this game will be in production.

I have the inmense pleasure to announce that Jeremy (Better known as Darth Mandarb) of twin-design, will have total freedom to get involved in whatever aspect he wants in this game, and I can say that he will help me with the graphics. Further collaborations have a lot of chances  :) (Possibly a webpage).

We can also count with a musician with experience in the sound made by John Williams  ;).

I want to thank Lorena, SSH, and Yaksplit for aiding me in tracing the early lines of the plot.

Thanks for Vel for aiming me to some interesting links about history.

If someone want to PM inquiring for more, even the possibility of offer any kind of help, don't hesitate and do it!

Critics' Lounge / A sprite of the bad guy!
Tue 24/02/2004 23:31:38
Can you help me to choose one of this guys?

As you can see... they´re basically the same, just the face changes...  One seems to be a young nazi SS offciel, brave, without scrupuls...

The other seems more sophisticated with the monocle, maybe he´s a prussian gentlemen...

Which do you think could be the best for being the nemesis of the known character of Arizona Scott?

Thanks in advance...

Critics' Lounge / Walkcycle for Arizona Scott
Wed 18/02/2004 16:38:20
Well... while my future Company partner finishes his game and my buddy Boris makes the final touches to Monkey Island 1.5, I go on, slowly but without stop, with the developement of the stories of Indy´s pupil, Arizona Scott...

Watchdya think? It is fairly uncompleted, specially the last two frames, but I just want to know your first impressions... Maybe the pants are too big? I´ve been inspired in the old trunks of the baseball players of the 30ies and the 40ies, but maybe I´ve exageratted it too much. Do U see any problem with the chapels?

Thanks, and have in mind that there are some tecnical problems that I KNOW that have to be improved (I.E. Some strange line in Ary´s bottom...)

I a shoked... the winner of the '98 Tour of France has been found dead. It shouldn´t be so shocking if a young 21 years (Johan Sermon) old cyclist weren´t been found dead last Thursday either...

One month ago a 32 years old cyclist died (Chaba Jiménez, a famous spanish climber) he was retired and had problems with drugs, but...

At the beginning of the year '03, Dennis Zanette, another cyclist, died at the dentist... And Fabrice Salanson, a young cyclist, also died while he was sleeping.

I can remember than two football players died recently too, Foé and  Fehrer... I think that in this case is proved that they had some kind of congenit heart problem, but in any case, it reveals the quality of the health controls in the word of sports...

Coming back to cyclism... You can say that this is normal, that this is a hard sport and that things can happen... but we're talking of a community of aprox. 5,000 profissional cyclists in the world, 5 deaths per 1,000 in one year is too much for a supposed to be "healthy" people...

Maybe there is a new drug or something?

This is weird...

I don´t know it this could work for somebody, as it is in japanese, but it looks interesting because at least you can take a look to the process, step by step, and, maybe, a caritative soul could translate it into English.

Anyone? :)

That latest post about the time traveller has made me thinking in how the rumours are created. I´ve post something about it before, you can read it again. I wish to do an experiment, but I´d need your collaboration...

It is easy... Let´s create a rumour... And here it is:

As you can remember... A lot  has been told about the simbology of the new freedom building (I.E. 1,776 feet=1,776, the year of the U.S.A. Independence, the slight shape of the liberty statue...). Well, I bring to you another simbology. The construction is, in fact, a huge an international sign of a hand making "FUCK YOU!!!1"

We can spread the rumour that the arquitect is trying to send a giant message to Bin Laden, which is "FUCK YOU!!!"

Well... Just that... remember to spread the rumour if you have any ocassion, let´s see what happen. Maybe it will reach nowhere, but we can probably see soon one of that webpages which publish strange stuff that the shape of the building is a big hand making "FUCK YOU".

It should be fucking funny, IMO, to see a nice diagram of the hand photoshopped over Lower Manhattan, or people discussing if this is real or fake. And it would have been created in AGS.  ;D

In fact... I am starting to see that the construction in fact reminds the hand...  ???  :-X

General Discussion / Screen recorder?
Wed 21/01/2004 13:08:59
Hello... I just wandering if there is some free screen recorder available to download for free. What I exactly mean is that program in which you click on "rec" and everything you see in your monitor is recorded. I´ve seen some, but there are trial versions and I can´t use them because they´re intentionally blured(I want to create an avi from a WWII fighters game to use it as a cutscene in a game).

And, ah... Camtasia does not work for me as I own Win98, and it needs 2000 or XP...

General Discussion / Re:Alot to say...REALLY!
Sun 18/01/2004 20:14:40
You´ve been an arse... You weren´t not only happy not using AGS, but also you bashed us saying, more or less "Fuck you, your engine sucks and you all suck!!!"

And now you come back crowling? You had your chance to behave normaly and you passed them for your asshole. I hope that this time you became a "normal" member, but if you want to try to have another laugh among the AGSers I hope that CJ won´t forgive you again and set a huge BAN on you.

Good luck in your new AGS experience, but have in mind that many newbies have gained experience by a silent attitued of working, reading, and serious posting, and you´re far away from that respect because of your unfortunately start. You´ll really need that luck, matey...

General Discussion / Alot to say...REALLY!
Sun 18/01/2004 18:39:46
Well...for the past few weeks I have been stuck into a rut, with Wintermute...obviously, I realized that the program was pretty much....a farse. But, I have come crawling back on my hands & knees begging for forgiveness to all the AGS'ers. AGS is my home for creating games...AGS is where I will stay. Torin's Passage 2 won't happen because of copyright issues. BUT...I have not given up hope on a good game that everyone will enjoy.

Thank You all for your time & I hope to announce my 1st MAJOR game title, in the near future.

Critics' Lounge / A character to criticise...
Sat 17/01/2004 19:26:46
Hello AGS fellows... I am making the previous art for an uncoming (hopefully) game, and I´ve been making some costume tests...

This is... Arizona Scott? Well, he is the pupil of a famous archeology teacher, and he will have to deal with the nazis while this teacher is ill...

Can you help me to decide? The australian hat makes him look to old, and he has to seem quite young, maybe 20-25. I don´t like very much the dodgers jacket, as it seems quite dumb to see a person with a jacket like this in an excavation in Egypt. What do you think of the Yankees cup? I´ve been told that the Yankees is not a very loved in the rest of the US... What can I do?

Anyway, if you like to retouch it, trying to make him seem younger, feel free to do it!

Edit: If you wanna play, download the image and make a zoom on it... who is he?  ;) Willis?

I was navigating... And I just find this

It is just one more of the funny stuff you can see in the net, but it shows the lack of imagination of the writers how perfectly works the typical story of the orphan who becomes hero by killing the bad guy at the end... Don´t you think that it is time to change the basic storyline of the epic modern tales?

Notice that this can be made also changing:

Lord of the Rings; synopsis

Frodo Baggins is an orphan living with his uncle
in the remote wilderness of the shire.

He is rescued from boredom by wise, bearded Gandalf, who turns
out to be a wizard.

Gandalf reveals to Frodo that Frodo's uncle was also a ringbearer, and
was the best puzzle solver he had ever seen.

Frodo is also instructed in how not to use the Ring as he too
trains to become a ringbearer.

Frodo has many adventures in Middle-Earth and makes new friends
such as Aragorn and Arwen.

In the course of these adventures he distiguishes himself as a top...
well... he isn't really good at anything, I'll skip this part.

Frodo also sees off the threat of Sauron, who we now know
murdered millions.

In the finale, Frodo and his new friends save the world.

With some of the characters of Star wars.

Hi people... I have been working on an image last days, you´d probalby seen it in if you´ve been in mIRC. I was not completely satisfied (at all, in fact)... I prefered to make it in my style, is spite of trying to get the Lucas´ early 90´s style... Now it is your turn, what do you think?

here is the previous attemps, but have in mind that it is unfinished. I´d preffer if you critisize the first one, thought...

Edit: I was working in the second one for one week, the first lasted two days...

Hi to all:

I want to tell you one of the bests experiences I had at the school, as long as I haven´t discovered porn yet.

It was called "The travelling Tale". Each one of us had to write a page of a tale in the order of the alphabetical list. It was fuck*ng funny, as the history had weird twists every paragraph. I was the third on the list, and I added a robbery in the bank that "the class was visiting". But the funny thing is that the guy after me in the list liked the caribbean, and he put us all in a helicopter which crashed in a desert Island during the scape. We passed from hostages to Robinson Crusoes in one page.

I wish to ask you if it will be possible to make something similar here. We should put some rules, of course, to avoid that this story finished in another silly "CJ goes to picnic tale". My idea is to start with a "neutral" paragraph, made by me, if you want, and then put a list of writers who´d like to join (maybe Andail, Goldmund, DG, Rober Eric...) Of course, everyone can contribute.

What do you think? Will we get 5 or 6 good writers to do something nice?

Hi guys... I have a problem. I want to rip frames from a DVD. I thought that was going to be fu*ing easy, print screen and paste as in PSP, but... fuck! The only thing I can capture is a black screen. Is there any program which can capture the frames? I need to extract them form a *.vob file (Yes, they´re the Indiana Jones DVD´s  ;))

I would be pleased if someone directs me to a web where I can donwload this program (If exist)

Thanks.

Sometimes I´m still amazed by the little icons of windows, they´re so cute, so small, and they use the "pixel gradient" that I love so much in a so lovely way...  ^_^

Here are some examples of what I am talking about.

You´ll have to imagine a new icon for some new program, and draw it. Be as humouristic as you can, so my recommendation is to say in who´s desktop we could find that program.

Example:

The George Bush desktop icon to acced to the U.S. Nuclear launching program.

Restrictions: 80x80, use my "windows green" as the colour for the background, the Icon must have the letters and the arrow of a direct access. Of course, don´t cut and paste any other elements than the letters and the arrows.

"Realism" in the painting of the sprites will be appreciated, but be as crazier as you can imagining the programs!

It is the flashback walk animation... IMO, it can work as a template for many characters, PM me if you can´t use it for the "gifizication".

General Discussion / "Extremely short" Posts
Mon 17/11/2003 12:02:35
Hi people:

I am observing that a famouls old member of this community (A person who I am proud to say that is my friend) is making extremely shorts posts.

I am not going to say who he is, but I think that increasing the posting figures with sentences like just a "w00t!", "fruity poops" or "You´re my hero" is not fair in the sense that posts like that are not contributing to the community.

The problem is that taking a look to his latest 10 or 20 posts you see that most of that posts are just one sentence posts. I am not compling when people sometimes use a smiley or use a interjection to give rythim to a thread, but doing it usually seems IMHO a little... n00b.

Sometimes some of us are giving too much importance to the posting figures... I preffer "substanced" post rather than that relater before.

Now... you people can do what you want with this post, like sending me to Hell, or crushing me for behave as an administrator!  ;D

Hi to all: First of all, let me apologise if this bores you. Let me start.

I am a "cyclo-sportman". That means that I am in the third division of the cycling sport. I´ve been offered to be amateur next year. It should be a step to the front, it would be a nice experience, most of the winter´s weekend travelling with my team, racing, sharing experiences, suffering in a lovely way (Yes, cyclist are bizarre, they like to suffer)

On the other hand, I am happy as a "cyclo-sportman". I have a rule, the weekends are for my girlfriend. I have a good level for third division, I can win races, whereas I couldn´t in Amateur. There is also another point: I couldn´t reach professionals, I´m too old, so, running in amateurs would just be a "sabbatic year" or something in my life.

What would you do? I am 50% between one option and other... Do I try to accomplish my dream putting in danger my nowadays hapiness? Or do I go on like now, with my 90% of my life expectatives accomplished?

Thanks for the answers.  :)

Thanks for the answers.
