I think nobody has said that smokers are dumb. Smoking is a bad decission. I should had my driving license when I was 18, but I didn' t. I took a bad decission. Am I dumb? No. Well... maybe, but not JUST because of the driving license issue.

And, again, some of you (smokers) go on telling "Smoking is unhealthy, we know, but don' t go in that direction. Non smokers do unhealthy things as well". Well... I never talked about health. I just can' t care for your health if you, the main interested, don' t. It is just the smoke which annoys me. I could even stand the smell while people smokes, but it is sticky and lasts for DAYS.

"I don' t mind smoke as long as they don' t exhale in the faces of the people"

That' s a common sentence told by the smokers. It has a problem... smoke doesn' t just annoy us (US=non smokers) When is exhaled in our face. Smoke "pursuits" us like if it had rational intelligence and sticks in our clothes and our hair.

It' s true, make the test. Put 10 people in a circle, 9 of them smokers, one non smoker, and make one of the people to light on one. Smoke will move to cause maximun annoy.

Now, let' s talk seriously. I am not going to enter in health issues. Everybody can do what they want with his body. My complain is about the annoy smoke provoques. Smoke is really annoying for the non smoker for two reasons: a) Our smelling sense is better b)We are less used to it than smokers, ergo, we are more molested for it than smokers are.

And the worst of it, it' s not necessary to enter in a Pub which receives you with a hit of "fog" in the face to end with that sticky smell in your skin/hair/clothes. You can notice it if a single person is smoking in the other side of a 5X5 room.

Extremelly inteligent people smoke. Smokers are not (at least for smoking) stupids. But smoking is a bad decission. The problem is that smoking is not like drinking too much of sniffing coque sometimes. Smoking is a vicious that moves out of the body of the person who has the vicious and annoys a person who has choosen not to suffer it.

I wouldn' t even mind if a person or two in every pub smoke. I would stand that mild aroma in my clothes. Tobacco smells quite good when it' s a real/non-treated plant, and not too bad if comes in little doses after adding the artificial ingredients it has when coming in cigarrette shape. The problem is that not one or two people smoke. The problem is that "lighting one cigarette" is allowed, the people react as a mass and many many people smokes. You can' t put a line. The pitty is that even non regular smokers become smokers in weekend and 50% of the people can be smoking inside of a small/non ventilated pub.

Result: I haven' t gone outside in weekends for 5 years, just because it makes me feel sick (literally), and filthy. I needed to take a shower after going outside (normally at a nasty hour, awaking my parents) and it made me breath weird the next day in the morning, and all that after choosing the "no smoking" path when I had the oportunity to decide. It' s a bit unfair, to be honest.

Smoking outside would be a little sacrifice for an individual, and it would help a lot to improve the conditions in pubs, for everybody. Here the situation is so bad that even smokers can' t be in pubs for a long time, because the air is un-breathable, the eyes scratch and they cough.

So... remember. Smoking is a right you have. You can do it in open places, because in that way you want annoy anyone who hasn't chosen having smoke in their lives. If you smoke in closed spaces, you are trespassing the result of your vicious to someone who hasn' t chosen to have smoke in their live. It' s not like drink too much, it' s more like puking in someone' s trousers. You don' t need to take the decission of smoking outside bacause of your health, because of the law of because of the penalty. You can choose to smoke outside because you can probably helping a friend to spend a more pleasent time.

Well, in the last week 9 spanish people have been killed by terrorists, 3 militars and 6 tourists. I think I have some right to talk...

I feel so much better knowing that they were people consuming the third world in every 5 minutes.

I hope they burn in Hell. Damn capitalist fascists.

ya, but imagine what the middle ages cathedrals would have been like with modern technology?

They will just probably won't get builted. And use the ressources for hospital/school/transit/socialcares/streets/sewer systems instead.

Ohhh, how nice!

:P

One quick question... If a Company needs a Building to go on with their business developements, and has been fighting for decades to has the money to build that building they need, why should they spend the money in something (Hospital/school/transit, blah, blah) They don' t need? Buildings are a thing, generally build by private corporations, and social infraestructures are other, don' t mess things.

Yeah, we see what we want to see, and this is why highly skeptical people never find any evidence of the existence of ghosts...because they don't exist, obviously.

Of course they don't...

Sorry to be boring but it's just your brain naturally picking out facial features in random patterns wherever it can. It's not much different to anthropomorphising clouds, just in this case you've been told 'ooh ghosts abound!' and you know all the urban folklore and tales and whatnot so you'll naturally see the creepy reflection in the window mist. Notice how the nose, mouth and chin are made up out of the lines made by the brick pattern?

I bet we could go through years of Mittens photos finding 'ghosts' in the pictures :)

That's called "Paridolia". The brain needs to find patterns and stablish shapes. It' s very well known in the skeptical world.

Why two posts with the same topic in a few days of difference?

You mustn' t be afraid of reworking something, completelly, if necessary. I can say that many of the things I do (sprites, BGs...) look better if I re-do then completelly better than improving a "doomed" original design. I don' t know why. Maybe it' s because of that "artist' s eye syndrome" that makes everything look better that it is if hou hav been looking to it for  along time.

Specially if those complete re-works can make you save further ahead. Imagine you lose one hour redoing it all to be in low-res, but you gan one week per background with that decission. It' s worth of it.

Hoping to see your edits.  :)

I think there is a virus or something :) Now everybody labels their BGs as "sierra" :D

Not a bad attempt, but I am quite sure that with that use of the bluring tool, the result would be more appealing in low-res.

Looking very good, Dave. Knowing your "savoir faire", this game is going to be really interesting.

About Ivy' s work... Wow! I saw previous work of her, and I knew it was good. But this is very very good. :D Congrats for your work.

For those who didn' t liked the films...

You should go to the closer police station and denounce the person who, aiming to your head with a gun, obligated to go to the cinema and see a film you didn' t wanted to see!

:(

QuoteI would change that concept to being a good but unoriginal band, rather than pretending we don't sound like anyone else

Prog, I think Helm mentioned "good but unoriginal". We could discuss forever if "I would change the concept" really means if he thinks they are good or not, but I think it "works" as a compliement.

Now, to Hew.

In your opinion, Helm pissed it off, and you pointed out "the irony" that "this community behaves different sometimes".

So, if I am not wrong, what you meant is that, if any other members "pisses it off", we, as a community, would react censoring him/her, but we didn' t with Helm. So, if I can read between lines, you are saying that we:

a)Have some kind of primal feal to Helm.
b)We are hipocrytal.

Both options have no sense... That' s what I pointed out as an example a member pissing it off (Cameron, telling people to fuck off) and we, as a community, not reacting. We do not automatically react jumping to a member' s jugular if someone pisses it off or makes an "unpleasent crit".

And now, to save time, I am goint to type your reply, so you can cut and paste and we save time:

QuoteMe accussing this community of being hypocrytal??? That' s completelly nuts! I have never said that! You are putting words in my mouth! I just pointed out that on any other forum Helm would have been warned repeatedly for attempting to start a flame war and that it is weird how utterly different this community is sometimes. That doesn' t mean that I think that this community does not have the guts to react in front of Helm' s constant attacks!!! I love Helm. I love this community, and I would never imply in any sentence that you said! You are taking things totally out of context! Man! In any other community you should be banned for that! Fuck you!!!

I am sorry... I think that "You are good! But not very original..." Can' t be expressed "in a so much better" way...  ::)

It's  not even a bad crit. If he is going to tell "Fuck you", to anyone criticising him, he should retire... now... quickly. If Cameron expects that every person opining about his work is going to do it in the gentle way that a good university teacher does, he should re-think about starting a career as a musician.

To be honest... To be terribly honest, I think he expected 50 replies telling him how good he is, and, as soon as the things twisted a bit (a bit) from the original script, he reacted in a childish manner.... Sorry. It's not the way a rockstar should react...  :P

And "sin" and "sinner" was a metaphor, my friend... :) End of the discussion from my point of view.  :)

First... I never said that I think that you don' t give positive feedback. Positive feedback can be given with the positive attitude of yours, as well.

Second. Of course I can be wrong. Maybe you are not to open to say "well done" as I thought, but that was my initial feeling, without making a macrostudy, graphic charts, or complicate figures... I will see your posts with magnifier now, to see if my intial feeling was wrong, and if it is, I' ll apology to you.

But...

Even if I am wrong, I think that this would prove that the spirit of the replies can be missundestood, since I honestly thought you were "mr. Well done!" man, and you are not, so... maybe you should also reconsider your attitude towards Helm's posts, because maybe you are so wrong as I was before, no?

Nacho wins again!  :D

EDIT: Yes, Nikolas, I think that you have been opportunist here, since you are attacking a sinner (Helm) now, when, in my opinion, there has been no sin. Again, my opinion. If you honestly think that there has been a sin, you shouldn' t be opportunist from your point of view, which is really the point of view that matter.

All that "feelings" towards Helm's first post are, as all the "feelings" argueable. I see nothing bad in his posts in this thread, therefore, if you see something wrong, there must be a previous grudge... Sorry Nikolas, but if everything is argueable, your post is as well. I think it makes no sense at all and it's oportunist.

"I respect you, but fuck off" That childish reaction has been written in this thread, and nobody mentioned it. Now, where is the "This community is utterly different sometimes" Huw?

As said, I am open to discuss about "hard" posting, but when THERE IS an actual hard posting, and not a mob reaction based on oportunism and previous grudges.

So, if someone wants to go on with this, open a new thread. Cameron asked our opinion, and some of us gave it. All the rest (including my posts getting involved into Helm' s issue) should be omitted.

P.S. And sorry Nikolas, you know I love you. We had zillions of laughs at msn, but I honestly confess that I' ve thought that you are the King of the uncalled "Well done" replies before. I open CL, and there are 3 replies by you, telling to the teenager newbie that his latest stickman is an awesome piece of art.  :)
