What' s the problem with Helm?

QuoteYou are good, but not too original. Being original in the world of music is almost impossible. You should move to label youselves as good, better than "original"

Has Helm told something like "You are bad" or "Every band trying to be original succeds, but you failed miserabilly..."? No. He said they are good. He said that almost no one, nowadays, can archieve originallity.

Is that so serious? I think it' s a critic... a good one, contructive and real, IMO. 0% of harshness, and some degree of gentle obliging intentions.

I didn' t like the tunes, either (Thanks Ghormak for opening the path). It' s not bad, but it doesn' t really turn me mad of emotion. I am not saying that the music is bad, or that it won' t appeal anybody. Cameron shouldn' t feel attacked if someone says something bad about the melodies. I didn' t like strawberries either and people seems to love them.

Huw, I don' t know if you hae a personal matter with Helm... He has a particular way of posting, I admitt it...
I must sometimes remember who he is in person, and how would "sound" that sentence he has written, if told by him, "live", to understand the criticism and see how lack of wickedness the sentence really is.

I am really open to discuss about if he, DGMacPhee, or myself included, should relax a bit when posting. I do. I don' t really care about "hard posting", because after some bad experiences, I learned to realise that people is not so harsh as sounds when posing, and 99% of the times bitter arguings are just missunderstandings.

But if some "soft" members like you want me to post in a more moderate way, I am open to discuss about it.

But not because of this stupidity. If I am in a jury, and I know I am judging a criminal who has avoided jail before because he had good lawyers, I am not going to imprison him now if, for once, he is innocent. Dud round, my friend.

Thanks for your reply...

I remember you talking about that "languaje" in a comic you did (The one you took to Agia Anna, with the flashback buildings in the background...). You said something like "This vignette is wrong, I wanted to express that something was going wrong and I made the character entering from a side, and to be perfect it should have been entered from the other") It made me feel interested about the hidden languaje in the comics. Is there any link commenting that? Comic lexicon for dummies or something?

It was really interesting and it is nice to read that some of this lexicon was invented by Hergé.

I' d like to know your opinion as a graphic guru, Helm, since I have in mind that, whereas popular for the great public, Hergé is not in such a predominant position in the "professional circuit", being behind Moebius and some others...

George Remi (Better known as Hergé) was born 100 years ago. Many institutions are making tributes to him and his characters, specially Tintin. As an example, the exposition at Pompidour Centre.

I really liked Tintin, the humour, the adventure, and the tecnique... Clear ink line and plain colours. I loved the details and the character developement. I learned a bit of graphic art when I was a child copying my Tintin favourites vignettes.

Here goes my little homage!  :)

Did you like Tintin? Do you think it' s over rated? And the graphic gurus... Discuss about the style! Discuss about the rumours about new films by Spielberg and about Tintin' s future. Discuss!

This is moving into "Which cultural theme park I visited lately". And I think m0ds is asking about what do we do to improve our culture. I am allways reading a book. Not the same book... When I finish one, I pass to another. I like historical books, and sometimes some scientific book, like history of time and (I didn' t get a word) Einstein' s theory of relativity.

I am a smart ass.

Jerks! The puzzles make perfect sense... Mork, Mark and Mindy are the names of the children of the president of international protesic skins Co., and it' s perfectly known that they like to write their names in the sewers.

I wasn't as impressed as I was with Spidey 2.

It's good - but I thought Spiderman 2 was better.

Same here, and I am not really agreeing "per se". I went to see the movies without reading this thread, and had that same impression when I went out of the cinema, I was not influentiated by anyone' s opinion.

I felt that the Parker' s inner conflicts were not so serious in this third part.

Also I was a bit lost in the fight scenes, too much 3d, too much subjective camera... But that' s something I am sadly getting used to in the last few years. I would preffer slower, but more clear fight scenes, such as Troy (as an example) which also used a lot of 3-d scenes, but looked less exaggerated.
