Damn... I liked her too :(

The story is just another DUNE. But the movie is amazing... :) I have seen it in 2-d, and I am thinking in watching it 3-D. I really loved it. *Nacho runs to buy the videogame.

The latest I got... I like it, but I am not sure if so many elements make it distracting...

Thanks for the crits.

According to the crits, I came up with this... Maybe I am putting too many elements?

Hello! After some time of patient observation I just noticed that in my town there are a lot of italian restaurants, and a couple of american restaurants, but not a single "italoamerican restaurant" or a classical "greasy spoon" dinner... That gave me the idea of, probably, starting a business of serving pizzas, pasta, but also hamburgers, hot dogs and pretzels in a never seen before environment... I came up with this logo idea... which do you like? Feel free to download the image and attempt new colour schemes, or new ideas for the logo.

P.S. Damn! Photobucket resized my image, and the logo elements are not on 2 bits anymore... Don't worry, just edit that images, I will fix the colours with my own painting program.
P.S.S. I've updated the image to Neole's space... It's huge! My apologies... If a moderator thinks that I should resize the image, I will do it asap! :(
Thanks.

The russian deffense minister has just admitted that the "object" was a Bulavá missile launched from the Dmitri Donskói nuclear sub. Case solved.

Here, too, russian rocket.

But I think... If my  friend Mark post it here, he must be doing it because of some reason. Let me see if I can follow his reasoning.

a) This is weird.
b) This is so weird that I can't explain it.
c)  Why can't I explain it? I should be able to explain anything happening on earth... I have been in this planet for decades and I should be able to give a rational explanation to anything happening here.
d) What if I can't explain it because it doesn't come from earth?
e) ergo, It must be something coming from the outer space.
f) ergo, It must be something created by an alien intelligence.

I agree with a and b... Even with b.
I can't really explain it. I *presume* it's something earth-related that I can't explain because of my lack of knowleadge of how lights work in zones close to outer space. I know nothing about how a huge light in the ionosphere should look... I don't know anything about how should that light be. I *presume* there must be something in the atmosphere, or in the way cameras digitallize that event to make it look so weird, but I can't be sure.

But I don't agree with c. I assume there are a lot of things going on in this planet that I can't explain.

I don't agree with people who can't explain a thing and automatically take the easy path and say: "hey! I can't explain that light... It must be an alien aircraft" or "Hey! I can't explain who that experienced mountaneer dissapeared in that forest: He must have been kidnepped by a sasquatch!" or "Hey! I can't explain how Copperfield crosses the big chinese wall... He must be able to de-matterialise and matterialise himself in another place!". Unexplained is not the same as unexplicable.

If I can't agree with c, I can't agree with d, e and f either. Anyway... even assuming that, I hardly dissagree with F. There is a lot of outer space stuff... That stuff is not alien made. It can't be.

Anyway... I want to go on with reasoning. Anyone who has stopped reasoning in step "f" should go on with it too.

g) Why an alien wants to take the world attention over him switching on a huge light?
h) If we concede that an alien wants to take the world attention over him... Why he does it with a light? Why he just doesn't land in fron of the white house and has and interview with Obama?

Not kidding here... g and h are real skeptik questions that believers seem unable to reply. To summarise: Why would aliens like to call our attention on them? If they want to call our attention, why they don't do it propperly?

Nacho, Advil has no healing value at all, it only masks symptoms (analgesic value). But that can be scientifically proven, thanks to the ibuprofen in the medicine.

And? I was just clarifying a point about acupunture. :)

Homeopathy is something very specific.

and acupuncture does have proven effects i believe beyond the placebo effect.

but homeopathy is just a sugar pill or water with an active ingredient so diluted that the chance of there even being 1 molecule of the active ingredient left is on the order of 1 in billions.

Selling it as a medicine is fraud.

To clarify, acupunture is no better than homeopathy... Well, it has been proven that it *treats* the pains because the little nailings make the body produce endorphines, but that is almost equal to nothing.

It improves little pains, but it does not cure anything. It has a little analgesic value, no healing value at all.

Also, it has been proven that it doesn't matter if the acupunturist is an ancient asian master of the ki or the girl next door, it will cause the same effect.

So, yes, it should be banned as homeopathy if sold as a medicine.

For me this is quite funny... Most of "pro-legalise it", say "Alcohol is as bad as marijuana... Or even more!".

Nobody says: "Marijuana is as healthy as sport" or "Marijuana is as healthy as a good mediterranean diet".

Some "pro-pot" guys deffend marijuana saying that there are worse things legalised... Ain't it silly?

They should try to praise the healthy things marijuana has (of it does...).

If it has no positive effects, IMO, their efforts should go to try to ban alcohol, not trying to legalise pot. Otherwise we should finish saying thigs like: "Let's legalise freedom to amputate some other people's legs! It's not so bad as killing them!!!".

No?  :)

Cannabis increases negative effects of tobacco... and 90% of people smoke weed along with it. "It is not worse than tobacco" is a big phalacy.

Fallacy is spelt with an F. Phalacy, if it was a word, would probably refer to a penis (Phallus).  ;D

Hehe, sorry ^_^. Typoman attacks again.

Anyway, I would legalise it. I would feel a bit sad for those weak people who can't live without it (as I feel sad by alcoholics) but it's okay, it's its life...

It seems to be a global problem... A Spanish ship, the "Alakrana" has been hijacked for about a month... "We" captured two pirates, but we will free them, one for legal problems and the other because we suspect he is just 17... Funny, eh?

Thanks for the info, I've carefully read it, even the links... If I didn't reply before it's been because I was travelling! :)

CJ, if you get a place to live in, tell us. I will travel with a friend, so, 3 people for paying a rent could be a good thing...

While here you could join Team Sky! :D

I fear I am too weak for them :( But it's a good point, Andrew... Which are the chances to do sport in London? Running in Hyde Park... Gyms? Football?

General Discussion / Moving to London/Uk
Thu 08/10/2009 13:20:03
Hello guys!

I am probably moving to the UK in the following weeks... It's a bit like a "hippy trip", in the sense that I don't know where I will work. I have been told that "Inditex jobs" (A Spanish enterprise which owns Zara, Berska, Stradivarius, etc...) accepts Spanish workers with some level of English, and I know a girl who works there in human resources who told me that I will be hired, for sure. So, in a couple of weks I could be there.

Why do I do it? Well... After passing from the teen age to 30 without any major change I want to start living, London seems like a good start. The problem is that I don't know where will I live, how to move there, how to rent a house, etc...

I need help!

When I know more I would really appreciate information from people living in London... hey! Some of you might be there, willing to share the expenses of the rental with someone!

People from London, Chris, Nikolas, etc: Be sure I will try to make a visit to you!

Any other people from the Capital? Any important info I can use?

Agent Hans Markovnikov: Master of Disguise

Left to right: Markovnikov in his work clothes, Schoolboy, Nun, Golfer, Nurse, Batman, Flamboyant Latin Dance Instructor, Red Power Ranger, Ninja, Wally/Waldo, Pokemon Master!

8 Colours plus background

Look out, villains of the world!

ps. Oh, and the reason he seems to be coloured like a Simpsons character is because, as an added challenge, I made these sprites only with 8 colours out of the default pallette for paint.

They look like Legos... That's sooooo cool! :)

Some of those old songs still sound great.  Today's music is not as good as the old stuff. (Sorry Rap Fans)

Is that true? Or maybe we think that past music was best because it has been filtered by the time? I mean, I like classical music, but I can only recognise about 10 classical songs written around 300 years... That's a big filter! Around 3 songs per century...

The example with "old music" is not so exaggerated, I might know about 150 songs written in 30 years, but still, the example works... man, even "rap", a style I hate quite a lot can have good songs if we browse through the whole history of rap: Have you heard the "Los Santos Radio Station" from the San Andreas videogame? It's great!

I am quite sure that if we choose "10 best songs of the XXth century" we will get something as good as we can find in a collection based on the golden age of classical music.
