QuoteI know that Smiley No need to tell. That's another things that one form the "civilized" world might consider as barbaric - to treat a person as property. Wink

Isn't that what capitalism is all about?

Don't your thoughts, everything you can imagine or do - belong to your employer? Everything you own is held at bank, or even belong officially to bank (modern way of life - debts & leases)?

I'm a designer, doing creative work and feel it maybe stronger than people in service or other industries. Or who are capitalists themselves...

No. Capitalism is believing that Market takes better economycal decissions that a bunch of corrupted members of the party.

I think there are some "bad and horrible things", for example, someone goes walking down the street and kills someone else because he wanted to.

There are also "horrible but good things", for example, there is a life boat for 15 people, filled with 18, and the 18 that were already in didn't  allowed the rest of survivors to get it... Horrible, but better save 18 than nobody.

I think this is horrible. If good or bad is something I don' t want to discuss, I have my own opinion, but it' s just for me... What freaks me out a lot is that some people here doesn't seem to see the "this is horrible" as clear as I do...  :o

I recommend you don' t do it and fill your pack with funny stuff for mittens in spite of a heavy chainsaw to prove how silly law makers are...

DKH, it' s a T-1-b.

Space, if he must interact with pacients, and give diagnoses via talking with them, it should be logic to give it some kind of antropomorphology, it should give more confidence to the patient. Maybe that ceiling rail idea with a screen down, showing a nice looking humanoid doctor? Like Viki (Or whatever was called) in "I robot".

Deppends of what you are looking for! Realism or bare story telling? Because if you go for realism, a simply box with arms in a trolley should work... If you want to tell a story, and focus more in thinking as an artist than into realism, do it antropomorphic...

Looking in my old files! Save this post for me...

EDIT: Okay... Photobucket resized, ergo frackked the images.... But I wanted to send you was this:

I think my email is public... add me to msn or pm me and I will send you the images in actual size...

Basically: Think as an artist... Unless you want to do an extremelly realist subsim based on sailors clicking in the correct places of the submarine, think what of the complicate structure of a sub is necessary to show for your narrative purposes... Take a look that, for example, I changed the shape of the tower a bit... Maybe I felt into historically unaccuracy? Yes... Who cares? It's nicer.

Use as the base layer the exterior, then in a new, put the interior... They won't match, don' t worry, do the exterior first and adjust the inside.... If you pay attention you will see that in the external structure you can figure the rooms that are inside the preassure hull... if you do a good work matching both images together, you got it...

Also, I post my attempts of doing what I think you want to do now... Take a look and learn of my mistakes... :) I was happy with the style of the last tower, down left, in the second image...  :)

RB, it's a fictional sub... If you want blueprints of real subs, or even done graphics, I could give you mine...

Cryxo, I haven't explained myself propperly (I am not saying that you are missunderstanding me... I REALLY mean that I have explained myself badly). I don't remember that there are "good tutorials" of the kind you are looking for... What I did for learning is browse a lot of art, go to pixelation and take a look... By observation you can learn a lot, but don' t just stare to the amazing pieces... Download them, examine them, study them count the colours, see the tecniques the artist use and try to figure why he/she is doing that.

What I' ve learned so far, basically, can consist on:

-Redouce your pallete to 16 colours as much... Is good for learning, and, believe me, 16 is enough.
-Don' t use pure black.
-fight against Banding.
-Do not think as a "pixel dropper"... You will benefit of painting the sprites as big shapes, with volumes, with lights and darks... What I usually do is start with the darker colour, and then go adding the brightest ones, considering on which parts should be lighted. Don't do "lines", do shapes.
-Think as an artist... You are not a photographer, I know you might want to include that pocket in the shirt of the caracter, but... Does it look better? Shouldn't look nicer cleaner? Yes, I know you HAVE that shirt in your closet, and it does have a pocket there... But this is art, not reality.

It' s difficult to explain... I should do a tutorial! :D

No? Then it' s a surprise for me... I must say I always find that tutorial, even when "don' t wanting to". IMHO, it' s a bit too simple, and focuses on a non very popular style (Big sprites, darker outlines, etc...).

Still, it' s good.

I think it's the first entry you get when you put "Sprite tutorial" in google, but thanks anyway! :)

I think that the creators of the "Total war" series are "creative studio", or "creative assembly" or something similar already...

Jeremy, do I really need to post here to make you know if I am going to help or not?

Borning 10 weeks premature is not a problem, look at me ;)

Seriously, I hope everything goes ok, and sorry about your friend. Don' t worry about "starting like an ass" in the forums, lots of people did, and this guys know to forgive that kind of things, specially to beginners... (I don't remember you being a "dick", tough... I' ve been a bit out, lately)

Again, look at me, I am an ass 90% of the time here and some people still likes me.

Is it that "good adaptation" as "300" was of the battle of the Thermopile? Because then, I will save that 5 euros for something better, like sponsoring the massive plantation of daisies in the Gobi desert or something like that...

I revive this thread to thank eveybody for the advises... I finally went to Blender, it was the "newest free" program I could find, from the list. I gave it a second opportunity and I must say that, whereas I am still a newbie, now I do something else than staring at the initial room doing nothing.

My first work! Yay!
