When I was looking it at a glance I liked the body of the first and the head of the third. Now I see that you´ve made an edit with more or less the same idea that I had, so, I´ll go for it. BTW, sure that more people will want to give their oppinion... :)

Darth Mandarb...  :'(

We gotta think in a new rumour, now...

My apologizes, but I thought it was original  :). Well... I should have supposed that the shape is so evident that somebody might think in that before.

I´ve received similar mails before.... In spanish...

Maybe it is just a coincidence that another son of an african president (in my case it was the son of an african president) e-mailed me demmanding money for a good cause, but it smells bad. It looks more than an intelligent (even multilingual) spam process is being made.

Another one I received was a cuuuute photo of a baby... whose parents claimed that they needed money for a surgery for him. I would like to think that it was also spam, and I didn´t replied, but it can be plausible that people in front of such desesperated ocassions start massive mailings. It is your choice.

That latest post about the time traveller has made me thinking in how the rumours are created. I´ve post something about it before, you can read it again. I wish to do an experiment, but I´d need your collaboration...

It is easy... Let´s create a rumour... And here it is:

As you can remember... A lot  has been told about the simbology of the new freedom building (I.E. 1,776 feet=1,776, the year of the U.S.A. Independence, the slight shape of the liberty statue...). Well, I bring to you another simbology. The construction is, in fact, a huge an international sign of a hand making "FUCK YOU!!!1"

We can spread the rumour that the arquitect is trying to send a giant message to Bin Laden, which is "FUCK YOU!!!"

Well... Just that... remember to spread the rumour if you have any ocassion, let´s see what happen. Maybe it will reach nowhere, but we can probably see soon one of that webpages which publish strange stuff that the shape of the building is a big hand making "FUCK YOU".

It should be fucking funny, IMO, to see a nice diagram of the hand photoshopped over Lower Manhattan, or people discussing if this is real or fake. And it would have been created in AGS.  ;D

In fact... I am starting to see that the construction in fact reminds the hand...  ???  :-X

Sure Jackhammer, I posted in response to you considering my ally in this... ^_^ I just wanted to make this experiment because it should be interesting to post the results here... :)

Ohhhh! My apologizes! In any case... I haven´t been so harsh, and my "you´re senile" statement just works if you can´t understand my previous post. As you did... all is ok!  :)
#3868
what is so difficult to understand by you? That people who want to believe can´t give information to a person who wants to fool them? ???

Well... In that case... You´d probably be a 300 y.old vampire.

ergo... You´re senile...  ;D

Jackhammer... I´ve seen many "medium sessions" to have an slightly idea of how they manage to make it seem real, so... if your grandmother is dead ( :'() I think we could do an experiment in #AGS and I could guess many things of her if you are a little participative (which is the attitude of the people who goes to that sessions).

Wanna try?

If not, we could do it easier... Invent a character and write some facts of his live. I will try to guess.

It´s quite easy. They look the age of the person who want to stablish the "contact". If he is average, they test if he is trying to contact with parents/son. If they´re young, they go for grandpas... If they´re old, they probably try with sons.

Also, they descriptions are very vague. Imagine you (20 y.old, more or less) come to me saying that you´ve lost somebody you love. I can think it´s your brother, but you say "No"... Then I can reply, well... probably I was seeing an remind of the person who we are trying to contact, so, if he was watching a young kid, it can be somebody who took care of you when you were younger... maybe the image was you... Have you lost somebody like... your grandpa?

And by your answers, you finally give the "medium" the story. Have in mind that the people who want to  believe in such things wants to find a relief, so, any vague data you give them will be seen by them like a great prove of the existence of souls/supernatural contacts... whatever.

I am opened to the experiment.

There is a lot of people who can easily hint people with vague sentences.... I remember some similar session to tihm has mentioned. The "medium" starts telling "you´re coming here because you´ve lost somebody beloved, correct?"... Of course, if you go to a medium you are looking to contact with somebody.

Finally, a person came with an "invented" dead familiar and with data he could give to the "medium". Of course, the "medium" got all the information, and contacted with the dead familiar... the only problem was that this familiar wasn´t actually dead. It is a experiment we can do. Go to two mediums, to one with the desire to give him information, and the other to tell him of averything except of the matter you want to know about. The first one will give you a confortable solution to your problem, whereas the other will talk of no senses without guessing your real problems.

My predictions to year 2004:

-The pope will have severe health problems.
-Bin Laden of another important Al-Quaeda member will be captured.
-There will be a surprise in the US elections.
-There will be problems in Middle Orient, but Palestine and Israel leaders will finally face the problem.

As you can see... all to vague. But when that things happen, we can come back to the predictions and give the propper interpretation.

Edit: Somebody remembers that Bob Lassard? who claimed he worked in Area-51? another person trying to fool people?

C´mon guys... this is the typical magical trick of disctraction... I remember one...

You say to somebody that you´re going to read his mind... You say him that you´re going to ask him something, but that you´re going to write in a paper the answer before he says in loud voice.

You write in a paper "RED"and you save it... Then you ask to somebody "Which is your favourite number?" (A totally different question)

He asks: 12... And you write in a paper "12" and you guard it... You have one question answered correctly.

You make this person a lot of questions, and you finally ask him which is his favourite color... and then you show him the papers. Of course, all of them are correct, because you wrote the answers after he said them (But he thinks you wrote it before...). Some times, even the color question is well answered, but, if not, you can claim that guessing 12 or 13 questions of 14 is quite correct. That has been a trick.

The same is happening here. That forums were created after knowing the terrorist strike on 11/9 and all the stuff... the trick is to use a lot of people to say that the predictions were made before. When the rumor starts to spread, a lot of people will start to say "I WAS IN THAT FORUMS BEFORE 11/9 AND I READ THE PREDICTIONS" which is false...

This way of "rumour" spreading is very known by the folklore students. I remember that a few years ago (2002) there was a "surprise" program on tv. It consisted in hiding famous people in the houses of their fans and surprise them. The rumour said that a teen girl put mermelade in her "parts" and called his doggie to lick her "parts" before the famous person appeared... The girl was surprised and her fantasy was seen by milions of people on TV live.

Of course... this was false, it never happened. But people claimed that they had the video at home, that they saw the re-playing of the video in some late-night program, that a friend ensured him that he was seeing the program live... All was a lie!!!

Late investigations revealed that the rumour started in a late "radio-confessions" program. One guy called asking "Is that true that this thing happened in the TV program "surprise-surprise"?" The rumour was "official" just 16 days after.

We´ve got more examples... Houdini, the famous scapists, claimed that his most famous trick was just a lucky strike. He said that the box were he was in when he was thrown to the Hudson river was took by the water current far far away. As the box was underwater, people believed that he died, when they saw no sign of life after 10-15 minutes. When Houdini appeared 30 minutes later he was lauched to the fame.

Where is the trick? Well... the trick is that Houdini never did that trick... it was just a rumour he spreaded to forge his legend. And it worked.

So... we have two options...

a) believing that in fact there is such a stupid time traveler who has been trapped in this time and likes internet forums, or...

b) believing that this is a trick.

I vote for b.

I think you´re using a lot of noise... Also, the image looks to "flat"... Of course, saying what is wrong in this image without saying what to do to fix it should bring a "Fuck you!" attached, from you to me... ;D

Mmm... Why don´t you try to use different amounts of noise in each layer? In adittion, the colors should be brighter as closer the take is... I think that making something in the sky (A gradient, some clouds...) could help.

I voted for Dave Gilbert, and I remember that Andrew (SSH) asked why, as Dave admitted not posting a lot in the GiP forum... I just could say that there was a post by Dave who impressed me, I can´t recall which was, but that was why I voted him... Maybe there has been more people who has made the same that me...

Sure... I have been told that one of my ancestors fighted in the "Carlist" wars in Spain (some kind of civil war between an applicant to the trone and the queen on the XIXth? century). As he loosed (and he was a quite known officer) he had to emigrate to Bolivia? Venezuela? and he started another revolution there.

I can add that his disguise (he was supposed to be a priest even with nun included) was spoiled because he was sexually active with the nun (Who was his cousin... :P)

Also, a half-japanese guy married with an aunt of my grandmother has a nice story... He fighted in the spanish civil war, and he had to emigrate (seems that my family does not bring good luck to the sides they´re fighting with...) because the republican loosed, to California.

When Pearl Harbour happened, the only way to avoid concentration camps (let´s remember that his father was japanese) was to be a flight instructor. I think that plane was lost somewhere in the Adriathic in 1944...

I shouldn't see logic to put some DoTT character as a default character because the original template is oriented to sierra style... But I think that there must be a good Roger Wilco walcycle somewhere. Anyway, if you want to go on with the idea of the contest, it seems cool...
