General Discussion / Re: Indiana Jones

Portman just doesn't seem 'Indy' enough. She's not really sassy enough, or tough enough to be in Indiana Jones. I also read about a rumour that Shia LeBouf is signing on to play as Indy's son, but he denied it.

Portman's not gonna be in it, GarageGothic; or else there'd be a lot of publicity surrounding the event. I guess Lucas is going to have to let go of his fantasies about her. ;)

QuoteI had heard a while back that they were going to make another film...Anyone know the status of that ?

Yes, it's true! They are making another Indy movie. On May 2008 Indiana Jones 4 will be in the cinema. Filming will begin in June 2007.
Casting:
Harrison Ford    Indiana Jones
Sean Connery   Henry Jones Sr.  not sure
Natalie Portman     not sure

and more

Indy's girl in number 4 is probably going to be  played by Cate Blanchett!

Forget Natalie Portman..

General Discussion / Re: The Crap Joke Thread

That was a pointlessly long joke which could have been summarized in less then three paragraphs. Pure crap! ;)

Right indeed. Looks just as good, if not better than BASS.
#366
The screenshot looks good! Do you guys still need voice actors for the game? If so, can you PM me with a list of characters? I'd love to help out with this game.
#367
Ah, so this is that BASS-style game. Looking forward to playing!

I remember playing this a long time ago, but not remembering the name. Thanks for posting this, as I probably never would have found it.

Your animation is very good for a first try!

Everything for...

TheJBurger!

except for idea, which goes to

Sparky!

JBurger's was awesome. Looks like something from one of their later games, like Full Throttle.

Since the last round of Release Something had been 4 months ago already (though it ended not very long ago), it's time for a new round.

You may find details here.

At the time I posted, the thread you linked to was the last Release Something. I thought the new one already started. Gosh, don't kill somebody over it.

Or maybe, you could use all (or a good amount) of the sprites and BGs that one or two people made. For example, you could you use 10 of Krysis' sprites and then find a background style that matches his like..... zyndikate (okay, the styles don't really match, but zyndikate has a lot of entries).

Well come on, if I can fit five years' worth of MAGS contest rules into a single game, it's also possible to use such a diversity of styles in coharmony.

Ya know, someone should do that for the MAGS rules- using sprites and backgrounds from previous contests. We'd have a lot more entries than we normally do- because games would be so easy to make.

General Discussion / Re: idea?

I've contemplated an idea like that one in the past, but I've hesitated because:

1. The art styles of sprites and backgrounds are TOTALLY different from one another, and it would be really hard to find stuff that matches. Venus' entry, for example is a lot like buloght's except there is more texturing- it won't fit.

2. You'd have to ask every single artist/musician, etc. to use their stuff. Some of them may not want you using their stuff.

3. Other forum members may think the game downright sucks, because well, the art is all 'ripped' (technically).

I agree, a game like that would be cool, but if you think about it, the game wouldn't really work very well.

General Discussion / AGS Skypecast
Mon 12/03/2007 22:24:13
I assume this probably has been discussed before, so please mods, don't hesitate to delete this if it has; anyways, I downloaded Skype a few days ago, and I think it's a great program. Very convenient. So I thought, why not start an AGS Skypecast- there could be people running at at various times during the day, and AGSers could drop in and stuff. Almost like IRC. Any thoughts on this? Anyone have any more ideas for things like this?

Well, since no one has posted anything, I thought I might get the ball rolling...

The Book

I started working on it a few days ago.

Kingdom Games presents:

The Book [/i] (working title)

Storyline:

We find our main character in his old age; feeble, weak, useless. But he still has a tale or two to tell of his glory days, and he intends to chronicle all of his life. This is the first part of his tale. Our intrepid hero-to-be finds himself dangling from a cliff's edge, with his whole life below him. His grip loosens, and he feels himself slipping. He falls prey to gravity, and he feels the full force of it. The fall seems like an eternity to him. Where does he end up? That's for me to know, and for you to find out.

PROGRESS:

Story: 10%
Sprites: 1%
Backgrounds: 4%
GUI: 0%
Scripting: 0%
Music: 0%

I know that it's a bit early to be posting about this, but I feel like this game is going to turn out a lot better than my previous game.

Features:

  • Two separate soundtracks- MIDI and MP3, all with unique songs for each score!

  • Very low resolution character art!

  • An epic game with over 30 backgrounds and a full-length musical score!

  • AND much, much more!

Screenshots (these backgrounds are still WIP):

I am DESPERATELY in need of a scripter (or scripters), and for someone to do the GUI. A MIDI musician might help too, as I am better with MP3 than MIDI. I'll post more info on the game when I have more ready.
UPDATE:
March 12/2007
A new team member has signed on. Maverick is going to do scripting and GUI. I am also planning on either updating the graphics for the final release, or else releasing a deluxe version of the game (for free, of course). I am in need of background artists, as my backgrounds don't quite fit what I have in mind for the game. If anyone wants to do backgrounds, PM me, and I'll send you a copy of the game storyline with a list of locations/etc. I have also shortened how many areas will be in the game from around 30 backgrounds to about 20-25 backgrounds.
#377
This game is awesome but.. I think you need to add this to the game database. A lot more people will play it that way.
#378
Pretty good, compared to your previous efforts! Keep trying, and soon you'll be really good!
#380
Yeah, I've been beta testing it too. I played for just a short time, but I'm already hooked! Same stuff Strange Visitor said. I'd also like to add that the music is very well done.
