Since my name was mentioned, I thought it not too inappropriate if I had a go. Though It is obviously a very different setting to Lode, I've kept a similar approach here as I did with the Lode backgrounds:

If this is what you were looking for, let me know and I could probably do a step by step explanation or something along those lines.

If it is not, I will go and sit over in the corner and we'll forget I ever offered to give advice, ok?

Indeed we are, Questionable.

Just letting you guys know I really appreciate all the comments and such - just because I tried a redo doesn't mean I've forgotten your advice or this thread.

Much thanks for your excellent advice, especially Zyndicate and Jens :).

I will return.

I believe you are looking for Just Another Point and Click Adventure.

Enjoy.

:D Nice and early with a good sprite to start!

Keep em coming people :).

For this week's Sprite Jam, I'm looking for something that is out of proportion with the rest of the image.

What do I mean by this?

I'm looking for something in which one part is far bigger or smaller than the rest of the item/character would suggest. Examples include the following:

-Large man squashed into a tiny car.
-Small ant carrying something enormous.
-Small dwarf using a large weapon.
-Normal person with one rather large hand/other limb.

There are a number of possibilities here, so let your imagination run wild.

Restrictions:

- Image is not to exceed a size of 200x200 pixels.
- No more than 64 colours should be used to create the image.

Good luck, and I look forward to seeing some imaginative entries.

There are trophies:

Gold, silver and bronze replicas of nature's own out of proportion wonder-crustacean, the fiddler crab :).

Hooray :).

I enjoyed this jam muchly. I shall create a new one!

Nice to see lots of entries :D

Seems as though the URL is http://e/AAARGH.png

How interesting. Indeed, do upload.

Which is less than you already get.

I wish I hadn't just contributed to a rather pointless thread  :=

Nice little game :).

I liked the inclusion of a minigame, good stuff, but yes I would have liked this to been a puzzle related thing (i.e that you had to complete both modes once each at least in order to get an item essential for the game).

My favourite part was the little ending sequence - very nice indeed.

Good work, especially for a first.

Heh, I have to add that the first Barn Runner's has to be one of my favourites as well. I've actually tried replicating the technique of the out loud thinking from this game in real life, to much hilarity (on my part) and much confusion (on everyone else's).

;D

Just to clarify (and forgive me if I am incorrect, but I believe this is the case), Internet Explorer will set any gif with a designated of above 10 frames per second to a slower speed.

Therefore, short of removing frames from the animation, you may just have to be content with it as it is.
#2512
If you are using Internet explorer, it changes the delay on some animations, I believe.

I believe the preview window might be the same.

Try viewing it with Firefox or similar :).

Critics' Lounge / Re: Skitzo's Images

Skitzo, I feel you've taken this advice the wrong way.

The critic's lounge is here so that people can give you advice. Some of the advice you may not be ready/willing to hear, but it is advice nevertheless. You shouldn't feel obliged to follow any of the advice given here, but a lot of it is good advice.

I am sure that you can create better images than this, without needing to use photographs. The Wacom may take you a while to get used to - start small, perhaps. I don't feel that the pasting images route helps you improve as an artist, and that is why most people post in the critic's lounge - to improve as an artist.

Good luck to you with your graphics, and I hope you change your mind about the critic's lounge.

Awesome!

(as per usual :P)

I wish to be Friar Cactus Envision, on a noble quest to retrieve the last piece of the magical chess set which, once assembled, I can use to challenge the not-exactly-evil-but-still-rather-irritating Sre'suort in a game that will decide his fate.

I wish my primary weapon to be a throwing star launcher modified to shoot Cyndi Lauper singles.

May I cast magic missile yet?

Do you not mean the Apacalypse?

Basically...

Oh my God.

Now this is taking dedication to another level.

Awesome.

Critics' Lounge / More new tablet BGs

I've been painting a little bit with my new tablet, and this is where out adventures have taken us this time around:

Hooray, it is a big castle! (Made for the BG blitz)

It is a tree on a hilltop with an ancient runey stone.

Just as a note, I drew the rock roughly based on the rocks in Helm's game Caverns - hopefully I did a good enough job here.

I think the compositions might be terrible, and also some of the objects strike me as being out of place with regards to colouring. The castle seems to be pasted on top of the mountain, stuff like that.

I feel these still look very "beginner", any advice on how to get my backgrounds looking nicer?

Wooohooo first entry again! ;D

If only you could've seen what I've seen for the game...

Yes, yes, if only...

;)

And woah... Lode gets another mention!? I haven't even made a wip thread for it! Thanks :D.
