Ok, and about the completed games at that times? SSH choose DEMO for pick of the month while there are completed games? I know that, because i remeber exactly that time.
So what? Why make a whole new post sbout it when you could PM SSH and ask him why he did it?
I think the 'Games In Production' thread is doing fine.

TwinMoon

The Fallen Legend demo is not in the games database.

SSH

There has only been one demo ever picked as POTM, so FOY is the exception. It is also not just "the first bit of my game that i've made so far" like most demos, but an entirely separate mini game (and longer than many short games in the DB). So, FOY is exceptional. The Fallen Legend demo doesn't meet either of these criteria.

As for 800x600 authors I respect, how about Radiant, Alkis, VinceXII for starters

Don't you think that "A Tale of Two Kingdoms" and "Ben Jordan 6" gets enough from the main page. I think its better on the front page the games to be picked randomly from database (at least 3 cups)

Ali

As much as I want to avoid joining in the Stan criticism, your post in Stediddy's GiP thread wasn't terribly positive (true, but not terribly positive). Since that game is 800x600 I would have thought you'd offer more encouragement!

I do agree that a wider variety of good-looking games appearing on the front page would be nice, but the whole forum and community here depends on people contibuting their time and skills for no reward (other than internet based adulation). You can't be too miffed if something isn't quite as good as it should be, but you can try to improve the situation yourself.

Bai Karl

Ali, you also spent your time making "Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy!" for no reward. Don't you want to to see your game on frontpage.

PS: When I came first on the AGS website, I though that the author of "A Tale of Two Kingdoms" ownes the website.

So, have you moved on to complaining about the "Games Showcase" on the front page instead of Pick of the Month now?

Why not tell us quickly which bits of the AGS site and forums you like. It might be quicker. Don't worry, we'll assume the rest is garbage.

EDIT:
AHHHHH! I just worked it out. Stan is Yahtzee in disguise and is planning an 800x600 Trilby game and wants to make sure it gets due prominence ;)

Perhaps you missed this rather valid point that Eggie made...

Haha!

As far as the FoY demo, it actually had a considerable amount of gameplay in it, enough to qualify as a short game (or medium by some AGS database standards).  I wasn't at all bothered by it being made pick of the month for this reason alone, nevermind Miez's beautiful artwork.

You seem to be taking this little war of yours in too many directions, Stan.  Narrow the field of criticism or you may learn as the Nazis did how ineffective fighting on multiple fronts is.

Come on guys, stop leading him on ... the longer you feed a troll, the longer it is able to stick around and harass you whenever you want to cross the bridge.

Ok Rincewind,

(blah-fuckin'-blah!)
Hey, Stanley, leave Rincewind alone, he's my bitch.

And yes, Fallen Legend will be POTM because it'll be a good game, NOT because it's in 800x600. Picking a game for that just because it's in a higher resolution is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

PS
Even though I just added to it, I agree with CJ. The only way he's going to understand that we just don't give a shit is if we just ignore him. Through all of these threads, absolutely NOTHING has gotten through his ignorant head.

Hey, but this time it hit unsuspecting Karl Marx, wicked! Viva la resolución!

I, object.

When I think "underappreciated games," I certainly think "Nelly Cootalot," because that game really deserved five AGS awards, more than 13 000 downloads, and to be one of only five AGS games thus far (out of a database of almost 1000) to receive a 5-cup rating from the ratings panel, and goddammit that just doesn't count as recognition where I come from. The fact that it is not included in a banner on the homepage that has not been added to or modified for years is an absolute travesty and everyone even tangentially related to this community should be ashamed.

Andail, if you care about your games and this website at least you can fix the screenshots for your "Tulle's World I, Roving in C..." and "The Glorious Realm of Thendor" in the game database...They don't work.

Well excuse me, I dropped my laptop off a chair once onto a dirty carpet and a bunch of absurds got into the case and every now and then the CPU just offloads a few of them into graphics that I export

EDIT: Just to be clear I never claimed that The Vacuum had the greatest graphics; it's one of the areas that I really want to improve in my next game, actually, since I feel that the graphics you're quoting are functional - adequate - rather than attractive. My whole point here, as well as everyone else's, is that graphics are not indicative of quality, and that low-resolution games are just as worthy and capable of creating high-quality experiences as any other game. Sure, high-rez games often (but not always!) look better, but that doesn't mean that low-resolution games or even short or simple games can't be good, or that they don't have a place in the aggregate of modern adventures, or even that they aren't capable of moving the adventure genre forward.

I mean, look at Nanobots. It was 320x240 at 8 bits, it was short, and it was a pretty simple little game, but it had a unique concept of puzzle design, and I would also point out that it looks absolutely fantastic despite its technical limitations. Would you seriously deny that Nanobots is a good game, or that it doesn't have anything to offer to the adventure genre?
