I guess you might be duplicating a lot of the work done by Radiant in his KQIII+, although obviously he is not redrawing graphics like you are. Maybe you can get together and share?

Hi,

Well we do have everything covered, Programming, art, music, ect. His project looks great and we do encourage him to complete it, these are two completely seperate projects which will not interfere with each other.

Cheers,

Can't wait, but is it going to set back the production of QFI?

Either way, it sounds like a good project.  Radiant is ambitious to make the older games into PNC games, and I hope he continues with that.  But the artwork involved with updating these to VGA is very nice to look at as well.  Will this be like KQ1VGA (a direct remake) or more like KQ2:RTS (a remake with artistic license)?  I know its funny comparing AGDI with anyone, but it looks like you'll bring us another great KQ remake.
That's like looking through a microscope at a bacterial culture and seeing a THOUSAND DANCING HAMSTERS!

Your whole planet is gonna blow up!  Your whole DAMN planet...

Broomie

It will be a 1:1 remake meaning everything is staying the same, well with the exception of course being updated into Point and Click and VGA graphics, not to mention professionally updated music. This shouldn't effect the production of QFI, at least I hope not, that part isn't really my forte. Thanks for the comments though.

The info on the website states that our remake is a 1:1 remake, so it's more like KQ1VGA in that respect.

We've added dialogue pictures and closeups for some of the dialogue portions of the script, but we have not changed or added any details like KQ2VGA+.

About Radiant's project - he and I talk quite frequently, so we know about each others projects. Ã,  ;D

Heh, and no, QFI's production will not be slowed by this production. Ã, We have seperate scripters for each game, while some memebers of the art team work both projects!

Klitos is the programmer for KQIII VGA and i'm the programmer for QFI. That is I program in my free time...when i'm not drinking....which is all I do in my free time...so that means I have no free time...or I have free time but I drink...or I drink while I program...which I do in my free time...but do I have free time?....oh man i'm so confused now, I need another drink.

P.S.
To Vel, LF has been working with IA on KQIII VGA for some time now.

Vel

So, will you at least remove the dead ends?

Vel, LucasFan is working with us on this project for a while.

We are making basically a 1:1 remake, no plot additions ala KQ2VGA, but perhaps removing some dead end situations is a possibility.

I know you're a big Sierra fan, Vel, so I promise to take real good care of this production!

IA's KQ3VGA remake was started last year in december, and no, IA and radiant's projects do not share any code or art. They are seperate.

Saying this however, we are looking for sprite artists to help us with this project, and if possible, maybe Quest for Infamy aswell.

If you are interested please reply in this thread or drop a message at our forums, of course with a portfolio of your work aswell.

Wow! wow! wow! I can't wait for this one! I never got a chance to play KQ3, and a VGA remake would be a great way to finally play it.

Blackthorne

This is a quick note for all artists who may read, lurk, post etc - and who are interested in working on a professional (hah!) like production....

We're looking for artists that would like to help us create the art for the CUT-SCENES for King's Quest III.  We are working from a script, and we have ideas for what we'd like to accomplish.  Here is a piece of production art I constructed to give an idea of what we might like to do in places in the game.

If this sounds like something you would be interested in, PM me or visit our website and contact me, Blackthorne.   The production is gaurenteed to be finished and released, and if you're a Sierra game fan, this will be a fun project.

Thanks....

Hello all,

Just a quick update, and thanks to those who posted about the anicipation of our game.

We're actively testing the game with our Alpha/Beta testing team now, and although it's not near completion, the game is starting to come to life, and most areas are playable.  Getting out all the bugs and finishing the art is the main thing.

We're working on finishing mostly sprite work and animations, and detail work on the Backgrounds.  If anyone is interested in Sprite Work/Animation, please let me know.  It mostly consists of re-editing AGI style artwork in VGA color images, or edting sprites that I have made, to give them a more finished, polished look.  That said, I'm really exicited, as we have a portrait artist working for us.  His portraits look very nice, and I think they add a great quality to the game.

Here is a little preview of an older version of a portrait he did.  The final verison looks different, but this is just to give you an idea of what's going on.

I'm even getting excited, as I play these early versions and hear the wonderful music that Soup Angel has composed for it.  It is all digital, and it sounds beautiful.  I am convinced that our remake will be great fun for all fans of the series!

Again, if you're interested in working on animations and sprites for this game, we could always use a little help.  Feel free to PM me.  Or visit www.infamous-adventures.com .

Thanks for all the support.  I promise to deliver a good game.

Merry Holidays.  Happy Decemberween!

I've played about with the latest beta-build for KQIII, but I'm not betatesting it(now that I'm officially IA, I can't be associated with beta-testers), but it looks pretty good. I never actually played KQIIIEGA, but this is looking like it might blow the previous KQ remakes away, and not just saying that because I'm on IA, or because AGDI and myself are on icy terms, no bias there... No seriously, it looks great and I've been waiting for the right moment to try to coerce Shawn into releasing a demo. Who knows what the New Year will bring. I'm betting both of the current Infamous Adventures projects will be released, probably KQ3 before QFI, but I can't wait to play either final project, even QFI which is still in early beta is looking cool, it's no secret that it will be more RPG like in that you can fight multiple enemies, and facing three goblins is pretty tough, there's even tactical decisions to be made, such as positioning so you don't get surrounded. In truth, I'm looking more forward to QFI, because I was a massive QFQ fan and because I first expressed the interest in Infamous Adventures for that game. While I must "give props" to AGDI for QFG2VGA(release date somewhere in 2003. No scratch that, 2004. No scratch that...), I think QFI will be much more enjoyable and much more replayable due to the fact that it brings up nostalgia and theres different options even within the same class to obtain the same end and I don't mean through hybriding your character. QFG2VGA looks like it will be a 1:1 remake and wheres the anticipation in knowing how the game ends. I know you'll say," but Cain, you're involved in a 1:1 remake too." I'm willing to go out on a limb and say that more people have played QFG2EGA rather than KQ3EGA, so there will be that element of not knowing what will happen in most cases, I beleive. But I've been hogging all the attention. Why don't you guys stop by our forums( www.infamous-adventures.com/forums ) and talk to the people really running the games, Blackthrone and Klytos. Let's get back to the topic at hand... KQ3VGA roxxxx !!!111111 guys.

Well blokes, its been a while. Infamous Adventures has been having some quiffs with membership as of late, but we got a new sprites guy who put out some great stuff, I'm going to see if I can't finch you anything of his. Also, our website is being overhauled(courtousy of our Webmaster Sir James Broom and fellow Adventurer, Jeroen Warmerdam Esquire)and  and should be done shortly, I've seen bits of it and it looks more professional and clear-cut. The  address was and still is: http://www.infamous-adventures.com. Take a look around sometime soon, it should be done. I'll try to finch you something in the next few days. Bye kids.

In addition to the lovely news of our website overhaul,  I'm also putting out an invitation:  If there is anyone out there who has experience with AGS and programming, and loves Sierra Games, I invite you to do some alpha/beta testing with us.

If you want to help us hunt for bugs in the game, please PM now.  I can give you more details in private, but just a reminder - this isn't an excuse to play the game earlier: It's to help us find and correct bugs before they get out of control!

{Disclaimer: The rest of Infamous Adventures does not necessarily share these views and they are just the hopefully mutual, factually reenforced opininions of the Head Mod and assisstant PR. (So what I'm saying is, what do I know, don't listen to me if you don't want to, but don't insult the hard work my team does.)}

Interest has not been lost in Quest for Infamy. There's been far too much work put into it to just scrap it. It will come out. Before you start trying to raise more doubts, ask yourself why you give AGDI benefit of the doubt and not us. They are a devoted game making company as are we. They say their game will be finsihed, so do we. If we decided to toss Quest for Infamy, we would definitly announce it.Hero6 has been in develoment longer than most of us have been posting in adventure game forums, yet it is believed the game will come. Do you see my correlations? In truth, there has been more work done, as of late, Ã, on Kings Quest Three Vee-Gee-Aay as to Quest for Infamy, this is due to the fact that many of our talented, hard-working game members are busy and must lead other lives away from Infamous Adventures(though a few others are just plain lazy, but thats another story :> ), contrary to popular belief, our[all serious game-makers/distributers]sole purpose of existence isn't just to make and distribute games. I can assure you that work is being done on both games, though unfortuanatly, I can't release further information or time tables, you'd be better off speaking with Blackthorne about that. You can find him here, at AGDI, or at IA. Ã, I know it may sound like we promise-promise-promise and don't deliver, but we have proof that we're working, it can be found on our site. I've seen and heard new sprites, backgrounds, music, etc and pending clearance from my superiors I'll try to release some new information on both games. Deltamatrix, there's a few reasons why we don't take on as many bata-testers as other game development groups. One being, many of our team love seeing their work in beta demos and double as beta-testers. Another reason is that we don't want the final product cheapened for our fans by beta-testing. A third reason is that our beta-testers test both games and though Kings Quest Three Vee-Gee-Aay is a 1:1 remake, Quet for Infamy is totally new and sure to blow your mind, and if we hire many testers, word is sure to leak out, so we've stuck with a small group of dedicated, loyal beta-testers we know we can trust. A final reason is that we don't want or need the hassle of people who just want to sample the games earlier, and we only look for beta-testers who will stick around, not leaving when the game playing gets really buggy or deadends appeared or aspects of the game were badand restarts frequent. I've seen the latter reason in reality and the grief it is has caused the game-makers, and so, I for one, don't want it replicated at Infamous Adventures. These are only four reasons as to why we have a somewhat laughably small group of non-Infamous Adventurers beta-testers, but there are many more reasons, I just don't have the time, strength, understanding, and permission to discuss, so lets leave that dead dog alone. On a final note to Deltamatrix, had you stuck around patiently, and we saw you were dependable, a beta position would have no doubt been yours had you wanted it, trust doesn't materialize overnight. For instance, I was their first and hardest fan, from like last January, yet I was only brought onto the team in December, because it took them a while to trust me, I didn't have any references or prior experience, so for all they knew, I could just have been wanting insider-information about the games all along. Trust is essential. This isn't a verbal assault towards you, meant to insult you, or provide grounds for anyone to insult you, I simply wanted to thoroughly answer your question and any other which may arise from your point-of-view as I tried to see it. Very minority report of me. You can call me pre-PR, I try to see the questions before they are asked and answer them. In the long run, this saves forum and webspace ;) I'm joking, you have a good night, everyone...
Stay Untouchable. -Cain Aleksandrovich

P.S. To the notorious Jodo Kast Esquire, if it is the one and only. My friend, I can't tell if you're sending an innocent crack our way or trying to seriously insult us, but before you start trying to question our game-making, look at yours. Tell me, who's in charge of your QA? I don't speak for all of Infamous Adventures, but hope that my opinion is shared when I say, that to be able to blow wind at other games, you must have some kind of game-backing or proof that one is on the way. Proof that has never quite materialized from you. I don't know about everyone else in the Adventure-game community, but I'd like to say I'm highly anticipating playing your remake of Laura Bow. It distresses me that unfortuatly I could never see your website, because of my inferior computer, nor ever download your critically-acclaimed demo off of KaZaA due to not being able to find it, but then again that must be my computer acting up. Or maybe its the evil Coalition of Sierra Game-Remake Makers up to its nefarious tricks again, sending my computer certain viruses which disable it from seeing your hard work, because they fear the competition. I'd like to personally send my support in the making of your game, and hope one day, I just may be able to join your reclusive, yet elite team of game-makers hard at work on the first remake of Colonels Bequest and first ever SUPER AGS Game. BTW, that was a crack at you, mate. Don't get mad, get KQ2VGA, play it again to fully understand the plot at the end of it, and prepare yourself for the awesomeness that will be KQ3VGA.

Not to stir up a pot, but isn't at least one reason to give them the benefit of the doubt that they've finished two games already?  I haven't followed AGS politics long enough to know whether something is going on under the surface here, but it seems like that's a pretty good reason.  ::)

Cain is just very excited about what IA does, and he's willing to stand up for that right.  As for us and our games, I hope they'll be fun and enjoyable.  If not, I'll refund every penny one spends on buying them!

As Deltamatrix brought up and Cain spoke of, QFI has not been abandonded, but the development has taken a less public forefront to our KQIII project.  Both games will come out this year, but KQIII will certainly come out first.

I don't want stupid flamewars happening over free games people make FOR FUN in their spare time.

It has been mentioned and mumbled by many, formerly myself too, that QFG2 is taking forever to make and may as well never come out at the rate it is going. This is why I alluded to them, as I couldn't think up comparison to another game company. While yes, they do have two spectacular games out and another stunning one on the way, I'm sure, it's not out, so I drew the parralel there. Sometimes, I forget that not all(very few actually) have beta-forums access at IA, and so I forget in complement that the rest of adventure game fans haven't played these builds like I have, so to me, it seems that all the rest know how great they're coming along too. I really can't fully rebute your post until one or both of our games comes out, but I fraw you assurance that Infamous Adventures is as dedicated to their games as anyone else and they'll come spectacular. Besides, Steve's right, I am a bit excited about our product.

I was about to play another KQ, after playing first two VGA remakes, since it didn't seem like AGDI was going to make KQ3VGA any time soon, so I fired up KQ3EGA. But the pixelated graphics on a large 19 inch monitor do seem that much more ugly. And I really hate all the stupid Sierra's "walk along a narrow passage with obstracted view and try not to fall to your death" crap. But seeing that there's a promising remake close to completion, I will wait for it instead. The screenshots look very true to Sierra's VGA games. Here is a piece of production art I constructed to give an idea of what we might like to do in places in the game.

Whoa , that is awesome! *feels like she could faint anytime*

While I have mixed feelings about other screenshots ,  I know it's still a work in progress so hopefully everything will turn out allright / alright in the end.  I've long wanted a VGA version and it's great that you guys are working on it. Thanks very much.  Regardless of how it turns out , I still look forward to playing it. I may or may not ever do / complete it, but I had / have plans at my own attempt at a remake of this game myself someday.  So just to cover my butt in advance , it's not going to be a "rip off" people , it's just because I am such a huge fan and have the selfishness or whatever of wanting to do things myself! So , please , no name-calling. I am not saying you willl but I wanted to rant a little , heh. Sorry if you happen to not care and I just seemed to waste your time. Wasn't my intention. Thanks again for everything.

Heh.  I hope so too!  We keep trying to polish the graphics, so that the latest iterations are of the best quality, while still retaining that Sierra 256 VGA feel.

Kara, that's totally cool!  Making games is always cool, and I wish you all the best on your projects.  Doing this project (and our concurrent project, Quest For Infamy) has really taught me much about the process of making games, and the school of hard-knocks in game making.  It's a lot of fun, but it's also a lot of work.  I'm doing it for the sheer joy of it, which what everyone should do.  Enjoy it !

Haldo!

KQ3VGA is very very near completion, yet we still need your help to finish this sexy game.

Well we at IA are on the prowl again to pick up some hitchhikers only if they'll do some certain deeds for us. Ah nevermind I've already written this out on the site, I'll just C&P it here.

IA are always on the look for new people to help us make our games. As you can see, an extra page titled "Join Us" has been added. If you think you've got what it takes, please direct your mouse to that page, fill out the details (along with a portfolio) and we'll get right back to you.

We're only looking for:

Sprite Animators - People who can put time and effort into animating sprites into alot of detail. If you're sprite work is very good and you can create and animate bigger things then please do mention that.

Background Artists - Although most of our backgrounds are done, we still need someone to add extra details. Small things such as adding books or fixing a few things up.

Dialogue Artists - We've already got the main NPC's dialogue portraits done, yet we're looking for someone who can color in bigger things such as cutscene art. Along with slight animating if possible. Our main priority!

If any of those areas apply to you, apply to us! Please fill out the form here.

I checked out your sight--I can't find a demo anywhere, is there one?  I'm really looking forward to the finished game!  KQ3 was one of my favorites, it's nice to see someone redoing it the way it ought to be done.

It will be a 1:1 remake meaning everything is staying the same, well with the exception of course being updated into Point and Click and VGA graphics, not to mention professionally updated music. This shouldn't effect the production of QFI, at least I hope not, that part isn't really my forte. Thanks for the comments though.
If it's a 1:1 version does that mean the spellbook will be the same with the same spells that we have to look up somewhere and follow the directions to theletter and if something isn't capitalised we die like in the original version?

No, the spellbook has been re-done in our version.

Positions opening for Game Testers.

- Must be able to spot, list and catalogue bugs.

- Inspect games for art, animation flaws.

Serious inquiries only, please.  This will entail quite a bit of attention to detail and work.  It'll be worth it, though.  Help make our game as good as it can be.
If you are interested, please PM me, and I will schedule an "interview" with you.  I look forward to hearing from you.

For the rest of you.... the finish line is in sight.  Thanks for all your support.  This has been a wonderful project to make.

Quest for Infamy is moving along nicely. There's no finish date in mind yet, but the groundwork has all been done. The battle / stat engine has been coded, the backgrounds are done, there's a lot of animation work to do as usual, and a lot of other things too.

What Blackthorne said but here's the professional way of doing it.

ANNOUNCEMENT: KING'S QUEST III NEEDS BETA TESTERS - PLEASE READ

You thought this day would never come, but the production of King's Quest III has come to the point where the lucky citizens of Adventure Town pitch in and lend a hand to condemn theirselves to the dungeons... the BETA testing dungeons. That's right, Infamous Adventures are looking for eager and experienced beta testers to relinquish their bug finding skills in their brand new, debut adventure game, King's Quest III: To Heir is Human.

Are you who we're looking for? Who knows, but we'll need a little info before they put the names into the sorting hat. If you've got the time and are willing to help in our quest to hunt down those pesky bugs then listen carefully!

What we are looking for are people who are motivated, experienced and have an eye for the linguistic details. Not only that but people who'd spent at least 10-15 minutes on each screen looking, interacting and talking with almost anything on the screen, plus an eye for the details that could even be improved.

Think you're that kind of person? Well, get in line and send them an application with the following details:

- Full Name or Nickname
- System Specs
- Education
- Any experience with Beta testing
- Favourite Game

And last but not least, we'd like to know about you. Write a small paragraph about yourself and why you'd like to beta test King's Quest III, along with the kind of person you are when it comes to testing. Do you tend to cover one aspect, such as concentrating on the spelling and grammar, or do you just go crazy with the mouse looking for the slightest mess up?

Well, we'd love to hear from you. Please send in your applications to beta@infamous-adventures.com with the subject "Beta Testing Application" in the subject title by the 15th of February. Any later, and I'm afraid you're a wee too late, sonny.

Each application will be read and studied, a select few will be chosen so please don't get your hopes up. Each selected member will be emailed soon after so those lucky (or unlucky ones) ones will help in taking up the task of eliminating the scum of the game. Bugs.

Okay - the beta testing application period has ended.  I want to thank all who applied for a position - we got a lot of applications!  If you applied, you'll get a response to let you know whether or not you will be testing the game.

As for the rest who may be curious, this means the game is close to being released.  I know I personally have had a great time working on the game, learning many things along the way - AGS programming, art, animation - it's been a challenge, but I think we're going to have a really fun game for people to play.

Thanks to all who supported us - and I encourage anyone who wants to make a game with AGS to go for it - pursue it with tenacity, zest and conviction.  If you work hard enough, study enough and don't die in the process - you'll have a fun time making a game.

I hope our end product is something people will enjoy.  I know I've enjoyed making (and playing it as we progressed in the programming) it.

That's great news. By the way I think you need to update the KQ3 teaser. But in the end it says the game will come out winter 2005. It could confuse someone right guys?

Sinister

Indeed. It might.. but people are aware that the game is being released later this year. The teaser is fairly old, and i doubt we will update it, it may even be removed.

But for all of those who might be confused, KQ3 is comming soon. STAY ALERT.

Sinister.

Broomie

People also got confused when they were looking for SQ7 in the shops when they saw the expected release date on the teaser 1998. ;)

It's not too big of deal, in my opinion. Release dates get messed up all the time, just look at AGDI (no offense) It's just a few months overdue, if it was alot longer I would probably consider changing it. For now though, it's best left alone.

Anyway, while I'm here I might aswell announce that beta testing has closed and the lucky sods will get their letters of approval in the mail any day now.

LilBlueSmurf

For anyone worried about the IA site today, we are not gone.  Someone deliberately, or accidently, got into an admin account and trashed the forums.  We got hacked.  Don't worry about KQ3, we still have everything and this likely won't even slow the final stages of production much.  Other than the site being temporarily disabled, we are, and plan on staying, fully operational.

Sinister

I would like to say, King's Quest 3 Remake is safe and that we are all working hard to bring you this game as soon as possible.

The attack we suffered this week did not stop us in anyway, and that soon we will have the site up and running again. Thanks to all the people who have given us their support.

Ditto for me! King's Quest 3 was the first adventure game I ever played when I was a little kid, and I have VERY fond memories of the game. It had a really cool system that hasn't really been done before or since. It'll be great to see how you've brought it up to more modern standards!

Best of luck, and I hope it's a winner! :D

Hopefully the forums will be restored tomorrow.  Which sucks, because it's put a bit of a stall on our beta-testing.  I can say the testing was going well - and I really can't wait to release this soon!

The forums are back! Here's just some more random babble about the tremedous return of the IA site and forums. Oh, and we've got a new design too.

We recieved such a blow last month, which resulted in a long time offline.

Yet we don't give up as you can see, we fixed IA and we're back and open for business! We may have had to pay a little extra to get this done, yet we did it for you, the fans. As another thank you for your patience, you'll most likely be aware of the little makeover we've done with the site. It was about time, and especially as we near to the completion of our debut game, King's Quest III.

We have to confess, this has affected the production of KQ3 a tad bit, due to certain data which was needed that wasn't backed up before the attack. However, we have recovered and there won't be any breaks from here. We'll work twice as hard at releasing KQ3 then we did before to make up for lost time so hang tight, we'll get this game to your screens as fast as possible.

Thank you so much for your support and we hope you enjoy the new theme and design. You guys are the best and we admit, if it wasn't for the fans we'd probably have given up on this.

If you've got any problems with the new site or any bugs then please inform me. If you prefered the old forum skin, you can still choose it by going to your control panel and changing the skin set to "Classic IA" if you feel that's the one you love instead.

IA is back baby! Yeah!

Also, read the press release on Beerfest 2006. You get the see real video footage of Bt singing and dancing.

Well, I don't have an EXACT date for you, but I can tell you that the testing is wrapping up, and we're able to play the game through without any major bugs - so one can start it and finish it with no game stopping errors.  We're still cracking the nit-picks, but believe me - it'll be soon.

P.S.  The file is 3mb so it may take some time to load if the server is going slow, sorry bout that.

Okay....  I have gotten the file down from 3mb to about 800kb, so all the people that were still having problems should now be able to load the teaser much easier.  The link is in the above post.  Same place, just smaller.
