Metal Gear Solid Sprites (Need Help)

Hey, I've been working on Metal Gear Solid sprites lately and I did some small MGS sprites. But now, I'm working on big sprites. The colours may be to dark or too light, I did it on my laptop so I don't know if the colours are off.


Solid Snake, Mei Ling and Meryl.

Any C&C is appreciated, especially paint-overs.

Looks good but I noticed a few things...

Details are a little dark on his body, even for this type of character and the bandana floating in the air looks too thick, almost like something is sticking out of his head.Ã,  Just my opinion.

I like it, keep it up.

i think it looks very nice,

i agree with Russtaccio the bandana does look stiff and im not sure about the beard.

other than that looks great

Thanks, I uploaded a lighter version. I'll check them on my PC in a sec. As for the bandana, I made it looser but it isn't in that images. Also, the beard is from the sequel game aswell, I might get rid of it.

Edit: Fixed it on the PC, the colouring was terrible. XD

Only thing I noticed are his feet. I don't know how to explain what's wrong with them, so here's an (really small) edit:

Something makes me think that the thighs should be longer, they look a bit misproportioned to me; but thats just my opinion.

Edit: How's this? (Fixed boots thanks to Damien, baggy stealth suit and changed face)

eh, that model is an awfully bad pic imo. the models face is very much wrong in the first place (the far superior model here : http://www.spawn.com/toys/product.aspx?product=2016 )

however, even better imo is the original artwork


as to your sprite, i don't see much wrong apart from his face, perhaps it's the mix of MGS and MGS2 elements. MGS he had no beard with shorter hair, MGS2 longer hair (almost a mullet) and not clean shaven

Yeah, I need help drawing the long hair right, and the beard just doesn't seem to look right. And I was aware that the face wasn't accurate, but it was a good pic of the stealth suit.

EDIT: Had a go, kept the hair simple but..

Hehe, nice. But you ran into my first problem when I changed the face, he looks too young. Although, you did make me realise that the head was a little too big but the way you did it I wasn't sure about. So I lowered the hair a little bit and it looks pretty good. I gave him proper eyebrows too.

Lesson to learn: Never try to get critz and ideas from GameFAQs, even on a MGS forum. They just ignore your topics and post in the "HOW I BEET M1 TANK?!!!" , "I AM ON  DRUGSSS LOEL" and the "PSYCHO MANTIS WHEARS A MASK!!!!" topics...

Oh well, now I need to find some people to help me with this since I am considering making a game. I am looking for:

Story Writer
Character Developer (Maybe combined with story writer as creative writer?)
Animator(s)
Music Composer

Don't want to over do it too much.

It's a Metal Gear Solid fangame... I've posted about it before. It's set just MGS1 and will be a mix between the old MG games and the MGS games.

I like it. Unless there are any objections, I'd say its perfect.

Oh, and an animating tip. 'Select' small sections, then move them slightly, then fill in any gaps. I did that for a roughly 40 sprite long sequence where the character falls over. It may seem like a strange method, but it really does work.

Whoa. That edit is awesome! The ammo pockets was something I wasn't sure about, with me... They would end up like overalls! The gun could use some detail, but the problem is that you can't really do much at that size. Nice edit though, if it's ok... Is it alright if I use that edit? Or do you think I should have a go at it? Oh... And I can see everything on it fine. Thanks. :D

Not sure about it being perfect, but it is pretty good. The pose isn't very natural but just like all my sprites, it works. Thanks for the tip on animating too, it's weird though because people who redraw the body parts in large ammounts get better results and I can actually prove that. :P
