Been looking a little into graphics tablets, just wondering what's the best cheap (v. cheap) one to get? Im in the UK, so UK suppliers would be preferred!

I'd also like to know :P
Also if i might add somthing to your quiry, anyone know if they work with "all" progs... or just the specific ones provided with the software?

I've been wondering this as well.  Sorry, not much of a helpful reply I guess.  I saw one up at the mall but it was right crappy!  I can't recall the brand name, but it wasn't a brand I recognize off of any other electronics and it wasn't a Wacom (sp?).

I don't know if it'd improve my drawing skills or not, but it seems like it'd be an awful lot easier than trying to draw with a Logitech Trackball!

Here in Japan Wacom has released a great little series of small tablets which include a wireless mouse too. It might be worth checking if they're available in the US too. They're only about 7000 Yen.

Of course, an A4 sized Wacom tablet is the business! But these are expensive.  >:(

i got a A5 tablet off of www.ebay.co.uk and it works wonders, plus it was only £30!!! there are quite a few on there, check it out, they're all nice and cheap.

I'm currently trying to get a tablet off Ebay too...

...

Yup.

Ebay's definately your best bet. At time of writing typing, I saw an A5 (I think) Wacom for £1.00 with two hours left to bid. It's all about the timing for the best bargin.

Since I'm also on the market for an inexpensive tablet, if you could also list any tablets that you particularly reccomend AVOIDING, that would be good to know, too.

Ooh 60 isn't bad for a tablet!

With a tablet, can it sit in my lap so I can draw, or does it have to be on the desk somewhere for the cordless part to work?   Don't own anything cordless haha

A discussion about it on Blender forums.

Basically the only helpful info is that it doesn't work well with gimp, but excellent with photoshop (which they are sometimes packaged with).
Once I killed a man. His name was Mario, I think. His brother Luigi was upset at first, but adamant to continue on the adventure that they started together.

What kind of Macgyver trickery did you use Eric? Mine is being weird too, but I love mine. Mostly because I dont have the money for a new one.

I'd go for the low-budget ones Wacom are making these days: http://www.my-volito.com/uk/index.html
They only cost 59 Euro ... but they may not be available in the States ... >:(

(Edit) - But I just read that you're in the UK - so no problems there... :)

Chicky
