Do, you do anything with black backgrounds? I notice most is in white, do you just prefer to work with white than black? How exactley do you go about choosing colors & drawing those logos there realy good!

I do a lot of my logo design in Flash (as opposed to Illustrator, Freehand, or Corel Draw).

The colors I pick are usually slightly modified versions of the default web-safe palette in Flash. They seem to be as good a starting base as any. Most of my old (Pre 2000) pixelart was done entirely in a web-safe palette. Go figure.

As far as inspiration for a design goes, I just try to come up with something appropriate. I either take the name and think about what the words conjure up in my head as pictures, or I try to incorporate pictures into the letters (like the penguin being the lower half of the X in my logo).

Anyway, since Mr Penguin is seeming inspired, logo-wise, please see if you can come up with something for "SuperScottishHero"... I could only do a lame SSH over some tartan which looked rubbish. If you do use a tartan, use Buchanan, though... my surname is a sept of that clan.

Because I can't really associate the word 'Haddas' with  anything but you or your avatar, the first thing that comes to mind is a cartoony, black-and-white, comic-book-style version of your avatar in the middle of a circle (think Nintendo seal of Quality) giving the viewer a thumbs up with a cheesy smile on his face. The circle would have the words "Haddas Appropriate Games" around it with a frilly, official looking edge. Silly and official at the same time.

Secondly, mostly because of your inclusion of HAG, I think of an old lady with a controller playing video games whilst sitting in a recliner. You know, one of those generally-associated-with-the-elderly types. All adjustable remotely and whatnot.

Unfortunately, I am as unlearned as a heathen when it comes to the definition of haddas.

SSH, I have a few things in mind for your logo. I will try to use your tartan when drawing it (or at the very least would leave that texturing to you).

Your logo will require a bit of the old ink & paper, though, so I might not have anything together very quickly on it.

More good stuff from the Penguin.  Man, you must be a busy guy. :)

Anyway, Iron Pirate: No, I don't even remember ever looking at the Longest Journet, so it wasn't intentional.  I just photosoaped the background and made the lettering in Illustrator.  Someday I'd like to make a rendered version with the background flowing like Traveler's Tales did once.  Maybe I will get around to it eventually. ;D

Hey there penguinx! Very cool logo's there! I was wondering, if you could find the time to draw a basic logo for "Solidus Software"? The one I have, with julius caesar on the coin, is just a cheap ripp from an already drawn picture. I'm looking for something that looks like it, but in another style, that is original. For the record... solidus means schilling.

I'd be really gradeful if you could find the time to give me some pointers.

Whoa, amazing logos penguin! I've always liked your pixel work, but you are definetly a logo master too!
If it's not too much trouble, could you try making a logo for "The Insomniac Lab" (or just "Insomniac Lab", dunno)? I'd like to hear what that name makes you think of first, before I tell you what i imagined it.
I really love the smoothness of the vector logos, but is it possible to animate them? Aswell as properly resize and adjust them to different places (website logo, small web logo (pretty tiny, on top of the menu, good for a signature) and the in-game one, which would be the only one that animates (unless I have the large website one animate too).

Minimi, I will try to come up with something for you later in the week. I have one logo that's ahead of you in the production line.

GinnyW, I can certainly come up with a few things for ya. It is possible to animate the vector logos. I make most of them in Flash, actually.

Also, if anyone else who has gotten a logo would like a FLASH or ILLUSTRATOR version of their logo, just let me know in this thread or a PM.

Well, the thing is I can't use flash very well (though I do have it), and animating in it is difficult, which is why if you can make logos that look just as good in pixelart, I may prefer that so I can animate it. That is unless you'd be willing to animate it for me.. heh. Which I would of course give you credit for in the game and the site :).

Btw, here's a description of how I imagined the logo, but I'm interested in your idea, if you have one.
I'm not sure if it should have a black or a white bg, but since my site is bright (will be ;)), I think it's best to use a white bg, which I would make transparent.
So, I see it as a large open eye outline, with the text The Insomniac Lab in it (or "the" could be outside) with,umm I dunno, something OR papers scattered..
Actually, I don't like either of those much, Iprefer to hear your design idea. I think I want to include an eye or something though. The tiny logo would just be an eye with "TIL" in it (or is IL better, without the "prefix"?), and the large one, for the game, could be the same as the normal internet one, or something, umm, else? Maybe I'll relate it to the game in question each time. :)

joking.... but if you want to do a nice perdy one for "Planet Magintz" I would very much appreciate it.
