Most of my friends have slipped into a state of mental shittyness becuase they smoke weed alot. I don't condem the use of it, but if you get caught with it..your future could get screwed in an instant..

Excerpt from a day with my stoner friend

Head: 'laughing nervously'
Me:....shovel
Head: 'continous laughter
Me:If all it does is make you laugh..I could sell you some feathe..
Head:'Sock hop, soda pop, basketball and auto shop,
The only thing that got you off was breakin' all the rules!'

Not everyone responds to a high like this (I hope) but this is pretty close to what happens everyday in art class.

I just think it's funny when there's people that are against all drugs except for alcohol. They'll be like, "Drugs are so bad, but people that dont drink are WEIRD MAN!"

I think people need to face up to the fact that alcohol is a dangerous drug as the rest (it kills millions more people than all illegal drugs combined), and thus we need some consistency in our society. If alcohol and tobacco are legal, then so too should other drugs be.

I'm just sick of fuckers getting messed up on stuff and making life difficult for the rest of us. There should be hefty penalties for that.

Here's some examples of how some sketching I did under influences turned out (this is about 8 years ago [and art isn't my forte])

I can see that most of you have bought into the lie that smoking is bad for you.  Alright.  I won't try to dissuade you. Wallow in your ignorance.

Cigarettes are good for you. They've got calcium, niacin, vitamin B12 & contain no hydrogenated soybean oil.  It's what you light it with that matters. Do you light up using matches? They're killing you. Do you use a butane-filled lighter? Burning butane is a carcinogen. How about a coil heated by electricity? Those heated iron molecules are kicking your ass. I smoke the way that Buddha intended.. I light my cigarette using a magnifying glass and the beautiful rays of the sun - in other words, the natural way.  If it's nighttime and I need a smoke, I simply rub two cigarettes together until one bursts into flame.

Alright. I don't have a point. I smoke. I wish I hadn't started but I do enjoy it. I figure I'll give it up about the time I experience shortness of breath or don't enjoy each one.  I throw my butts away, I tap my ashes in an ashtray, I smoke at least 30-40 feet away from doorways & people. I chew gum, use mouthwash, brush my teeth, wash my hands, or wear different clothing when I'm around non-smokers so they don't have to deal with the stench of it.

I've got so much goddamn consideration for non-smokers you'd think they'd begrudge me a little elbow room. Sorry, I'm not actually referring to non-smokers.  I'm referring to the anti-smokers (not to be confused with the anti-cigarette crowd). I'm only hurting myself here, and spending my own cash that I obtain from working 60-72 hours a week. Yet somehow, people think they've got the right to approach me when I'm sitting on my porch smoking - despite the fact that the sidewalk's 60 feet away - to tell me that it's bad for me and that I'm killing myself.

That's incredible! My holy shiva, buddha, jesus & batman, you've astounded me with your brilliance.  Really? Causes cancer? Causes emphysema? Causes problems with pregnan-- do I look pregnant to you?  So? Did you read that off a pack?  No? You got it from an anti-smoking lecture.. got it.  Well, they probably didn't tell you this Mr. Door-to-door dumbass but every carton I buy, every pack within, every lighter I buy to go with the pack (soon, it'll be on every cigarette as well) tells me exactly what you just told me.  Am I supposed to congratulate you at this point? I'm certainly not going to argue against it, I'm just curious as to how it concerns you.  It pollutes your air? I'm 60 feet away from the street, what are you? A bloodhound? Oh, the ozone layer.  I hope you'll forgive my tresspasses as I forgive your V8 4WD SUV.  I'm setting a bad example for the youth? Have you seen the youth lately? If anything, they're more likely to set a bad example for me. Besides, I'm sitting here in sweats and a t-shirt.. my hairs standing straight up in back.. I just woke up. I'm not exactly a glimmering example of cool here, if anything I'm a human billboard announcing to the world that you oughtn't to smoke otherwise you'll be in danger of becoming like this loser.

My lengthy rant explains my feelings about smoking and all drugs in general. I'm not as pissy as it sounds but when communicating in text you've got to be hyperbolic to get your point across sometimes.  Be against drugs, just say no, take the stand, walk the straight & narrow, stand tall, be proud..  I've got zero problem with that.  Start condemning people instead of the substances, then we'll have words. Of course, I won't be listening to yours if you're chugging a triple-venti-breve-mocha as you preach to the black kettle.

[/obnoxious rant]

Ok... hard drugs/soft drugs... so on and so forth.... I've heard all the arguments.... here is my stance....

moderation is key.... however in some drug type instances there is no chance for moderation, crack is instantly addicting, so can heroine, but on the other hand, people with addictive personalities can be addicted instantly to just about anything, drugs (which includes alcohol, and nicotine), gambling, russian roulette...

Things I've done.... smoke tobacco, drink, smoke pot. Things I still do... smoke and drink. I don't consider myself an addict to alchohol, I enjoy the occasional beer after hard day at work, or drinking a few more while I'm cooking out on the grill on a nice summer day. Smoking however I know I'm addicted too. Not just the addiction to the nicotine itself. I actually enjoy it, I like the feel of the smoke in my mouth and lungs, I like the flavor, and I like that I get to take breaks to do it.

Currently I smoke no pot because of the nature of my job, illegal drugs are a big nono in the US military, and we are randomly tested every month (that is to say in a unit of 100 people, at least 4 of them will be tested during any given month). Not only are they random, they are without notice, IE you show up at work like any other day and they say go to the conference room, you have a drug test.

Will I smoke pot in the future, more than likely not, my illicit drug use in college and some in high school was done because my friends knew how to get it, I didn't.  Since I probably won't be near any of my old friends, and I doubt I will find THAT many in my corperate life (if they do use I'm sure they are very descrete about it) plus many companies drug test as well...

So all in all, people are going to experiment, but they should also be aware that they can become addicted, and know the signs... and know when to stop....

You should also keep in mind... like my cigarettes... some don't want to quit, even knowing what it does to them...

Drugster

I loveee drugs!

I'm too drugged up to remember right now, but earlier in the thread somebody mentioned how making drugs legal would stop mobsters from getting money, which is for the most part true. But then somebody else said how that's not true because most drugs are sold by 20-30 year olds. Something like that.

Well,

1) Mobsters can be 20-30 year olds too.

2) 20-30 year old non-mobsters buy their drugs from mobsters first.

Hey, look at me. I love mobsters, and drugs. And I'm not even 20 yet.

sedriss

I tried pot a few times. I was fun, but i'll stick to beer.
By the time you read this you've already read it.

Most people I've met irl or online that have taken drugs or smoked ( I don't really know anybody who's taken drugs unless they've never told me about it but then again it's something I haven't really asked about...and would feel weird about asking...*shrugs* ) ...they are a pain.  I thought some drugs were supposed to make you hyper happy but most people I met seem to only care about themselves and smoking. One guy I met was really strict. I'm a follower of "girls just wanna have fun" , ( arg stupid missing text ) , so he was a bummer to me and I ended up spending less and less time with him until contact dropped off altogether. *sighs*
There was this one girl I met who was really nice but one day was surprised to see her smoking with some other girl I hated and they were hiding behind this huge heater or something when we were all outside. I somehow stopped having anything to do with her after that , now when I look back on it I feel kinda bad that we lost touch since she was a nice person but just being around smokers makes me ill.
Some of my current adult friends that I met thanks to my parents , they smoke but they're nice people.
I've heard horror stories about alcoholics too so I'm glad I don't know anybody like that either.  ( or if they do drink..that'd be a surprise to me... )
Oh , and even though I've never tried drugs...I had considered smoking before but the whole "it makes your lungs Black and you could get cancer...ect." thing scared me off the idea. The reason why I even considered it was to lose weight.
I have tried alcoholic drinks a few times but nothing big , even a small sip makes me ill , so it's amazing to me that people can become alcoholics but I guess it's an acquired (sp.?) taste.  One time I asked about peyote and wanted to go on a spirit quest but somebody had a friend who did that once and his friend was never the same afterward , it had really messed up his brain "he thought he was an orange" so I wisely changed my mind about taking peyote just to go on a spirit quest after that.  :-[
I don't know if it really counts since the pills were not illegal , but one time I tried to take a whole bottle of pills and was sick for a while after that.   :(

I beleive that LSD should be made legal and used under regulation. Many psychiatrists beleive LSD can be used to unlock partts of the mind not usually used. The only reason that people crash on it is because no one is there to talk them through the unlocking of it.

Timosity

I don't know if LSD being made legal is such a good idea, but I wouldn't stand against it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to use it. And yes it does unlock parts of the mind not usually used, but they're probably not used for good reason (or just subconcious reasons) Also the possibility of flashbacks is concerning.

Ecstacy is interesting as it was onced used (or developed I'm not really sure) in Germany in World War I or II for soldiers suffering depression, it was originally thought of and trialed as an anti-depressant. It was forgotten about for years and made a comeback in the 70's or 80's I think.

Abuse of any substance prescribed or not isn't good for your body.

I think the most interesting thing is how much study is done on Wine, red wine especially. They always go on about how you should have a glass everyday, and come up with new benefits from it all the time.

Now seriously, This is almost propaganda from wealthy vineyards to get you to drink their wines, and also it's an upperclass thing to do, drink red wine. All the Doctors are recommending this for these reasons.

a) they are alcoholics (in denial)
b) they need more ways each day to rationalise their drinking problems.
c) they need more friends to drink with.
d) they need to increase the share prices of their vineyards
e) have something to talk about

Now why don't they just eat grapes to get all the goodies from them, I'll tell you why, cause grapes aren't addictive enough without the added alcohol.

If they devoted enough study to other drugs in the same way, they'd all be legal cause they do all have benefits in some way or another.

eg. smoking pot believe it or not can be used to stop asthma (not a cure) but it opens up the airways in the lungs instantly and can save a life if they don't have their medication handy.

that's just one little example but there are many others with all sorts of illegal drugs. but of course there are bad side effects as well, as with legal and prescribed drugs (the liver and heart seem to come off worse with most of them)

Ali

The biggest problem I have with drugs is their connection to criminality and exploitation. I think it's possible to use many drugs responsibly, but still not a terrific idea. I don't drink alcohol, smoke or use illegal drugs (which people often refuse to believe in view of my long-haired, unkempt visage).

Tea is enough for me. Precious precious fair-trade tea. Delicious and ever... so... four cups a day...

Well I'm off to get some tea.

LSD acts as a kind of stirring spoon.. your brain gets very mixed up. Smells can be interpreted as sounds, sounds as tastes, or whatever. The unlocking of certain parts of your brain can also be done through (much safer) hypnosis. I'd much prefer it over LSD anyway. The potential for spontaneous flashback is probably the most disturbing thing about LSD.

Someone was once telling me how it was discovered, it's actually naturally occuring. It can be formed in a type of yeast. It was first used when somehow an entire French (I think) villiage ate bread made with the yeast and just went crazy. One man jumped out of a three story building and when he landed, his ankle bones went through his knee caps and skin. It didn't stop him from running down the street on his knees.. crazy stuff.

Apparently it's not that hard to make at home either, she told me how, but I think it'd be best not to repeat.
Once I killed a man. His name was Mario, I think. His brother Luigi was upset at first, but adamant to continue on the adventure that they started together.

Nacho

The problem with LSD is that the very same drug, with the same proportions, composition, can affect in a very different way deppending on the person or the moment to take it.

The possibilities of a "bad trip" are great, maybe something like 1/4, and, if a pure lisergic experience can be great, one of those bad trips are just the opposite.

Take it into consideration...

Never tried LSD.. Didn't want to do it, was frightened of flashbacks and bad trips.

Once I took Speed, but only because some weird guy put it in my drink.
At the beginning it was cool, but it became very annoying when the floor tiles spoke to me and i fell over some steps that weren't even there. I checked it some time later, there really are no steps in that room.

I regularly smoked weed some years ago, every weekend or so. But the flash everytime became less cool and i had to smoke more for a great flash. About 4 grams in one Joint. Pure. That was pretty uncool and i've stopped smoking weed then.

All i do now is drinking alcohol (about every 2 weeks at the weekend).
The last time when i was totally drunk was last christmas, i can't really remember something, all i know is that this girl and me did something we didn't yet want to do..  :-\
... it's quite easy being the best.

Nacho

Mmmm... as far as I know, the "speed" is "just" pure amphetamine (It should be just pure amphetamine, but, hey... the dealers mess with the composition...)

Assuming that is it just pure amphetamine:

a) You didn't take speed, but something elso, an hallucinogen, of course.
b) We call "speed" in Spain to something that has nothing to see with the "foreign" speed.

Can somebody explain it to me?

Thanks.  :)
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

dasjoe

my doctor said it was of speed.. maybe he didn't wan't me to know what it really was in case i liked it and wanted to get more..

and yes, speed is pure amphetamine (it should be)... but i can only say that about "german" speed.

The Ergot(sp?) fungus is what your thinking of, it grows on wheat, and it is one of the precusers to LSD, it on it's own, however, while hillucengenic  is also quite deadly.  And making LSD at home is not really possible, unles you have quite the laboritory set up in your kitchen and a few years of chem studies under your belt.

There are lots of horror stories about LSD (people tripping for ever, being locked up for thinking they're a glass of orange juice, killing their famillies, ect ect.)  but they're stories  I have yet to see any hard proof that any of these things actually happened.

exerpt from Pharmacotheon by Ott
by Jonathon Ott
p.139
"I must emphasize that there is no danger of death or injury from overdose of LSD, which must have about the highest therapeutic index of any drug known (the ratio of fatal dose to effective dose is unknown since no human being has ever died from an overdose of LSD, but must be very high, as individuals have mistakenly ingested hundreds of doses at a sitting; this is a way of saying that the drug is not at all toxic)."

I'm reading alot of misinformation in this thread about drugs, which is bad.  Any misinformation is bad.  I would suggest people doing further resarch on there own at sites like www.erowid.org  or www.dancesafe.org,

C.

Nacho

Yup, but I had a friend who took 20 doses because the police was going to catch him and he spent a veeeery bad week (and when I say bad, I mean that he was able to see the air...)

The fact that the harm won't last forever is not the definitive reason to use it, but yeah... nobody died by LSD overdose.
