Well Eric, I hate to bust your balls on this, but I'm claiming that $1 million...

I've discovered a paranormal occurrence directly relating to the JREF. See, apparently the JREF building is in two locations at the same time...and although it occupies the same physical address, it is apparently 1.8 miles apart from itself.

Although it's arguable that "James Randi Educational Foundation" and "James Randi Educational Foundation The" are the same building, the paranormal aspect really comes in the fact that not only are the two buildings occupying the same physical space at the same time, they are simultaneously separated from each other by nearly 2 miles while being the same building!

Explain that Mr. Randi!

Creed Malay

I'd definetly be on for visiting the Randi Foundation, Eric.

Hey Eric! Randi? Of course... I will probably know him already by that date, but count on me ^_^
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Esseb

Eric: Yeah, definitely. I can try out for the $1M Challenge prize while I'm there also; I've been practicing making psi-balls.

Andail: Hooray. Been a long time since last.

I would be on for Randi.  I love how the old guy hasn't aged since the 70's.  Personally I think he's exercising his powers of the mind.  Maybe if enough of us go we could convince him to actually be there?

Put me down for having a vehicle. I also might be coming with plus one, depending on how long I can hold a relationship, and whether or not she'd like to be submerged in nerdom.

I'm game for the James Randi thing, and I'll take a crack at the million. I do this amazing thing where I talk to the dead. They don't talk back, so the conversation has awkward pauses, but they don't seem to mind.

I don't know how I feel about going to Disney during the mittens event, but sometime before or after would be awesome. Those of us in Florida should do a gloves event that scouts out cool things to do for mittens sometime between now and Mittens.

Money is sent and tickets are booked. Nobody can escape my wrath now.

P.S. Do not spend the money I sent you on cocaine, Grund!!

One thing I'm curious about: what kind if tempreaturs should  we be expecting? High ones obviously, but is it shorts-temp in the evenigs too? Just so I know what to pack. (I'll bring more than swimming trunks + flipflops, don't worry!)

DutchMarco

Wahey Grundy, thta's $360.22 heading your way! Catch! :D

Grundislav

Got it, thanks.  :)

Temperatures are most likely going to be hot and humid 80-90 degrees during the day, and hot and humid 80-90 degrees at night too.  It will also probably rain.

Don't forget to dress for as alligators.

That's better. 8)

P.S. POST 3000 BABY!

m0ds

I'm definitely maybe.

Whats the situation on how much the deposit is.

And whats the situation on getting that back if, by June 1st I realise I can't go.

Grundislav

If you're not sure at this point, you can wait until late May to send your share of the money.

m0ds

Cool, but I'm still confused. You want $360 from each of us before Mittens (now, as the deposit) or is that the total cost per person for the whole week it's rented?

monkey0506

Quote from: Grundislav on Thu 29/01/2009 00:31:51There is also a $1,000 security deposit, but I will cover that.  This means if you break anything I will personally come after you!

Uhhh...RTFFP M0ds.

;D

Grundislav

I'll clarify for you, Mods:

The total cost for the house for the week is $8,204.50.  Now, this includes the refundable $1,000 security deposit, which I am paying for.  Take that away and the total cost for the week's rental is $7,204.50.

7,204.50/20 = $360.22, which is what each person has to pay for the entire week based on 20 people attending.

If more than 20 people attend?  Well, then we take the surplus amount of money, divide it by however many people do show up, and each person gets a refund of that amount.

The reason I am asking for people to pay now is because I am writing the renter checks for $4,102.25 now and on May 29, and I don't want to deplete my bank account before Mittens.

Andail

I'm too lazy to read through...1.5 page of posts...so I'll ask here. Is there a maximum amount of guests we can bring?

Grundislav

#38
At the moment I am leaning towards discouraging bringing guests.  I know most people with significant others want to bring them along, but this ramps up the attendance count, and if we have a limited amount of beds, we're not going to have a very comfortable sleeping arrangement.

So, while I'm not outright saying "no guests allowed!", I do ask you to please consider that we're already at 20 confirmed attendees with 11 maybes...that's 31 people in a house that sleeps 23 comfortably.  If your guests don't mind sleeping on the floor and being in cramped quarters with a bunch of adventure game nerds, then by all means bring them along.  Otherwise it doesn't seem fair to make them pay to be uncomfortable.

AGA

Yeah, I think non-AGS people is probably a bad idea at this stage, given how many genuine AGSers want to attend, and how limited space is looking...
