No one else has mentioned the inventory yet Dual, so it's probably just me! ;)

What was my initial feedback on the inventory, by the way? I can't remember what I said.

P.S. Bookish Hunt-Down Event next, please! :)

I also think the inventory system is impressive, but a bit hard to use, as it detaches you from the game, and doesn't seem integrated. i.e. when wanting to use an inventory item on an object in the room, you have to go out of the room, select the inv item, click exit inventory, then find the room item again... I know this common to most AGS games, but it just feels clunky and long winded in my opinion.

Also:

QuoteThe inventory interface is far too complex. All the buttons and things are very swish, though. Well done!

I don't mind with anyone's opinion, the interface is the best I could deliver, but it may fuck things up for you at some point, and that is pretty understandable. I'm happy, and you're one of the greatest guys on the forums. Also not in my "people to tell to fuck off" list! ;)

The rest of you, if you've finished the game, please rate it and/or comment.

Reading my comments back, apart from the "complex" element, you sorted it all out. And, on reflection it does suit the style of the game to have a multi-layered inventory.

Thanks :)

To stop this thread turning into a big love-in that's all I'll say. I can also then get on with playing the whole game.

Bulbapuck

I haven't started playing yet, but I still wanted to post to say congratulations on getting this done :)

Thanks bulbapuck, also informing that now both links are direct downloads. ;)

The game freezes when I try to run it in Win98 compatibility mode (I play AGS games in this mode to avoid problems with saving). Could you please fix it?

Dualnames

No? It's not up to me to ask something like that. Not all engines/games/programs work under Win98 compatibility, so this is an AGS engine thing mostly. There's absolutely anything I did or can do, to fix this. Due to the big bunch of thing AGS is handling, you probably get this because of that. What kind of Windows are you using?

OMG!
Congrats' Dualname! I'm downloading it right now. I was waiting for this one since... let's say... 20 years. :D

Is there anyway to delete my auto-save files?

Not in-game. But you can go to the savegames folder.
It's MyDocuments/MySavedGames/Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Remake for XP

and MyDocuments/SaveGames/Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Remake for Windows7

Not sure on XP, but just search for Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Remake as a folder, and you'll have no trouble.

It was a great game i solved it with all 400 points allready. I played it with regular mode though.

Great, I assume you rated the game then, cause so far, from those I know Leon was the first, and I doubt anyone has rated it, even without completing the game,it'd be nice to see some feedback.

It's not very diverse once you finish it in any mode. If you remember the solution it can be solved in both ways, hard mode, is just always there to remind you how cruel the game was. 400 points is quite a score, but you can actually get more than that.

Not sure what I'm going to do next. I wish I knew. :-\. I'm going to decide in the following days, but now it's all a little blurry in my head. Hope the wait was also some bit worth it.

Yes i rated this game. I did play the original text version a long time ago which kind of helped.

Are you sure about that? Didn't that change in the last (few) versions? Because I used that one and still got to 400. It would mean an additional 6 points... I remember a version where you could get 401 but that's some time ago..

Can there still be a deluxe version with better graphics?

Yes, indeed Leon, but the game is possible to finish with 403 points.

You must pick up the peanuts from the shelf as Ford. That's what you're missing.

Well, there will be a deluxe version with speech pack and some improvements, but not sure I'll be able to find an artist to fix-up the sprites. :-\
