Cool. Is there anyway to find out the fee for such a journey? I don't know any German and am confused enough as it is

But perhaps if there's an online 'ticket' website you may be able to share a ballpark figure on the cost from TXL to fredrickshnarf please?

Also, do you think that hiring a car from TXL will also imply that Berlin car ticket thingame? I'd presume yes (it sounds a lot like the 'Congestion Charge' we have in London). I'm considering (very very just consideration, probably won't do it) car rental but again a bit scared and confused about the actual driving element

If think right-hand traffic isn't a problem for you...

That car badge I was talking about to Arjon is about the low emission zone in Berlin. Those badges make sure that your car doesn't emit too much respirable dust and such. If you rent a car, this won't be an issue for you.

Okay, I will be arriving at the Berlin East Train Station on Saturday at 1:10 pm (Google Maps pin: http://goo.gl/maps/HkHLo). Can anybody pick me up from there? I'm willing to wait an hour or two of course. If nobody can come by the trainstation, I'll take a taxi or try and get closer with public transportation from there.

Well, looks like Berlin East Train Station is (or is close to) Sixt Car Hire Berlin Central Train Station, Europaplatz, Berlin, Duitsland and that's on our route, so we could pickup max 2 people...

It would be much easier to pick you up from one of the two SBahn stations I mailed around. From your place you can simply take the S5 to Neuenhagen (Direction Strausberg Nord) and wait there for your pickup.
Isn't it also possible to exit at Ostkreuz instead of Ostbahnhof? From there on you can take the S3 to Friedrichshagen (Direction Erkner) and possible group up with other mitteneers.

@Arj0n: You're at the central station, I'm at east! :p But I can take a train from east to central to meet up with you there, they seem to be travelling 10 minutes every 5 or so, so no big deal. When do you think you'll be at Berlin central station roughly on Saturday?

Then we also can drive straight to the east side of the station in stead of 'the wrong side', if I can find that 'east side'

And since we are by car we can set our own start time, so if you do like to join us on from that airport we can recalculate the trip length and pick you up at (roughly) about 1:30? At the east side?

So we'll meet you at point C (Erich-Steinfurth-StraÃ Å¸e), not at point B (Sixt Car Hire Berlin Central Train Station) so point B can be skipped/removed from the route, right?

The job has been on the cards for a while, and I thought I had organized enough around it to facilitate Mittens (the September start date was all but agreed upon). It now appears otherwise. I could argue that I simply can't start that early, but it comes with compensation, and I'm a coward.

Abstauber, I feel like a shit for bailing so close to Mittens. I'll pay my remaining share, so as not to upset the house finances.

Feel free to look away in disgust as I slink back to my fudge.
