Hi, Magintz and I were discussing about films of adventure games, and we were joking about who would star in them.

For Monkey Island, I thought Johnny Depp would play Guybrush and Cameron Diaz would play Elaine.

Who do you reckon would star in it, other characters as
well ^_^

Well, with Pirates of the Caribbean being the fantastic film it is, I don't really feel much need for a Monkey Island movie. As I said in that thread, I'd rather have a Sam and Max or Grim Fandango movie.

Nacho

I would use:

Salma Hayek: Eliane Marley
Robert teh Niro: LeChuck
Guy Pierce: Guybrush

And... I´d love to see that film!
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

BOYD1981

you know, i'm surprised they've never but somebody called Guybrush Threepwood in a Star Wars movie...
i don't think a monkey island movie would work, they'd need to come up with a plot for a change...

but, i'd have;

Chris Jones as Guybrush Threepwood
OneThinkingGal as Elaine Marley
Jimi as every single monkey in the movie
BOYD1981 as Le Chuck...

Limey Lizard, Waste Wizard!

Dig those three headed monkey effects, man.

Ooooo Guy Pirece would be good. Is he the one in memento?

Nice suggestion about jimi as monkeys, something tells me you dont like him :P.

I would like to see a sam and max film too, but it would be difficuly to make  alive action, meaning it would just be like that cartoon they made

Aye, Guy Pearce is the one from Memento.

Hmm, I remember starting a thread about who would you cast for the movie of that and that game some months ago. I wonder if I can dig it up.

Edit: There it is: http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=2691;start=msg32507#msg32507
Currently Working On: Monkey Island 1.5

I like the idea of a live action Sam and Max movie. I picture Sam and Max being actors wearing minimalistic animal make-up. It would look silly, but all the other characters would be dead-pan about it. Nobody would take issue with the fact that they're talking to two guys dressed as a dog and a bunny. I think it would be weird and charming, just like the comics. And that's all, the rest of the film would be an offbeat detective story full of Purcell-style visuals and one-liners. If I someday get into fully fledged moviemaking then this is one I want to make.
Grim Fandango, however, would probably need to be a Pixar movie or something. Pixar's contract with Disney will end soon, and they'll most likely start making films without the Mouse's input. And it'll be something. I doubt GF has a chance of transitioning to a film, though.
Sam and Max DOES have a chance of getting made though. Comic books are always interesting targets for film. Given its relative obscurity, it'd probably be an indie movie or something. Which is how I'd prefer it...

You could do the Sam and Max movie like "Mother Goose's Rocking Rhyme". I love that movie...

Guybrush - Owen Wilson

Trapezoid

HAHA. That's the exact movie I was thinking of when I thought of the minimalistic makeup. I can't believe someone other than me remembers that movie.

OMG!!1 THAT IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE! Me and my friend love it so much we have a shirine. I know it by heart. I'm trying to get the music from it but its hard to find anything on it anywhere. Thats so cool... I was thinking like the dogs and people at the bar/club style for Sam and Max... :D
