You read the subject, foo'! Lets hear some backstories!
As for mine: There was a 'TikiTikiMan' in an early Crash Bandicoot game, and I just randomly thought of it as a name one day. I used to spell it with two 'k's, but now use one. The two 'k's still haunt me daily. I had used to be called 'RJD' and 'Chicken' (heh, OSC) before being Tiki, or TikiTikiMan. There have also been numerous numbers in my name, such as TikiTikiMan13.
*Tiki urges people to post their stories*
.
I came up with a quick name when joining the forums, it was BuffaloGamer. But i really, really hated it, so i came up with something totally different. It was Dark and it was Night, so i put the two together, and boom... Nothing much better.
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, a guy named Daniel was born.
12 years later, he was still around. Ã, His friend was like "OMFG U HAV 2 GET AIM!!!11!!!1!" So, he did (by He I mean Daniel).
His first screenname was Guitardude10293. Ã, This was very cliched, and it had a lot of numbers. Ã, So after a while, he decided to find something a bit more unique. Ã, There was a time when he had 3 screen names at once:
Ã, Ã, IambronzeQtip
Ã, Ã, WeaslesRfuzzy
Ã, Ã, releasethefrogs
He decided to go with IambronzeQtip.
But, after about 2 years, he got bored with it. Ã, He decided to change it.
Meanwhile, releasethefrogs was not forgotten. Ã, He decided to use it at an AGS Forum name, as well as spitting out controversial games using that name.
The End
AGA stands for AdventureGameAficionado. If you don't know what that means, you're stupid.
... or don't know enough spanish. go to school, punk!

I'm not sure but I think this has been done before. Ã, Maybe this should be added to the popular threads area if it hasn't been already.
Well, the name Raggit was bestowed to me by my father. Ã, It all started several years ago. Ã, It was after I had developed a great love for bunny rabbits. Ã, I soon learned how to mimick the grunting sound they make quite well, and since my real name is Robert I was nicked named Raggit. Ã, A nice cross between Robert and Rabbit.
I don't know what that full name of AGA meaned, am I stupid?
Also, no way I'm going back to school anymore (and Spanish was never taught!)

there was this guy named EvenWolf who had a lame name based on a Pearl Jam song.
Then I killed him. If he had been a candy bar, he would have been "fun sized"
And I was alot bigger than him.
There once was a guy named Jon, so he made his name 00jon00 for some odd reason. Now he goes by BassFisherman, because he's an avid bass fisher :=
A few years ago when I was into MMORPGS I made some accounts
Well I used to be XBOY1
But then that sounded a bit young
Then I was POSSESSEDBYHELL
Sounded a bit Mental
Then I picked losttraveler
Completely random
In 1991 I read a book called, 'The Eye of the World' by Robert Jordan (I'm sure many of you are familiar with the Wheel of Time series?)
Well my favorite character (at that time) was Lan.Ã, He rode a jet black stallion by name Mandarb (which means 'blade' in the Old Tongue).Ã, I just thought it was a cool name.
I started using that name anywhere you had to enter a nickname.Ã, The first place I REALLY remember using it was as my callsign in the game 'Wing Commander' way back early '90s.
A few years back I started posting on theForce.net's forums and I was so used to using Mandarb that I decided to mix it with something Star Warsian ... so DarthMandarb was born.
That's about the short and skinny of it ...
I had to ask a technical question and needed to come up with a name quick, so I chose the name of my game.
Then I got stuck here and I can't escape.
Please help.
A friend of mine called me "remixor" one time in jest back in high school, as a sort of leet version of my last name "Remo" alluding to the electronic music I used to create back in those days. Ã, When I needed a new AIM name because my old one had proved way too long and hard for people to remember, I just used the name.
My last name.
It was originally TerranRich, a name I have used ever since the childhood of AOL (mid 90's). My dad bought it and said that we each (my sister and I) could choose our own screen name which, he explained, was kind of like a handle on a CB radio. He chose MTkeg, my sister chose I-forgot-what, and I just chose TerranRich, being a Star Trek fan (humans in the mirror universe are called Terrans).
Now it's QuantumRich because I've recently re-discovered my love of Quantum Leap, the show, have started making a game about it, etc., etc. :)
/me will now proceed to save rodekill from the bottomless pit that is the AGS Forum.
Long ago a young man plays D&D with his friends... he creates a Cleric named Alynn, and rolls to see if he has any wild magic abilities... he does.... his eyes glow, yellow of all colors... It lets him as a human see in darkness as if it is daylight.... he also gets a -4cha modifier to all human races (-3 for magical races).... Alynn the Yellow Eyed was born... Hense the Yellow Eyed Studios Logo I go by now (still working out the kinks in the Logo... keep an eye on critics corner)...
Later comes MUD... in which I make another Priest with yellow eyes... he is a pervert... and a skeery forum moderator (not here though)
My friend did a photoshop portrait of Alynn.... See below.... ain't he cute!
I am 20 feet tall... and a man
Well once upon a time I played a N64 game called perfect dark. I used to be psycho at it and be really good and I needed a gaming name. I always played capture the case (CTF) and I never EVER defended. So randomly I sat there and said wow I raid their bases a lot. Tada! But cos the game was called Perfect Dark I made me: DARK RAIDER. I stopped playing PD because a magical game called Halo was born. I removed the dark and then.....Raider.

Dammit, eric, I always thought you were a girl, going by your avatar and all. Now I will have to go to therapy to deal with this month-long crush I've had for you. Oh...my heart...
Yeah collossal your pic is really nice ::)

I like dragons.
I like roses.
DragonRose. Tada!
On the EZ-Board forum I was Roseofthedragon because Dragonrose was taken. But that was a royal pain in the neck to type out. When Dragonrose is taken I now use my amazing Latin skillz and use Rosa Draconum.
Rodekill: There is no help for you. We're all in this together! Bwahahaha!
I was first called 'Duzz' about 10 years ago.Ã, I had fuzzy hair back then, so David + Fuzz = Duzz.Ã, Anyway, the name stuck, and all my friends have since known me as Duzz.
I had a band, and for some reason it was called Highway.
I had a body, and for some reason my parents named it Gal.
I did the ol' point and click 'combine', thus creating Highwaygal.
The nickname will probably be changed soon , though, because I absolutely hate it.
I was making a movie with my friends, I had all the jobs so i changed the directors credits to Alec Whitechurch. Alec is a variation on my middle name Aled, and Whitechapel was the district of the Jack the Ripper murders.
Well, custard comes from the cartoon, Dangermouse, with a character called custard mite of glutt

From the X-wing game...
Keyan Farlander...
QuoteKeyan Farlander grew up on Agamar, and was indifferent to the ways of the galactic government until Mon Mothma came to the planet to gain underground support for the Alliance. Farlander received a copy of the A Call to Reason pamphlet, and it turned his mind to the Alliance. He joined up, and decided the he wanted to be a starfighter pilot. As an untrained Alliance starpilot on his first mission, Keyan helped recover important Imperial documents by disabling the Imperial shuttle Talon near Turkana. He proved his incredible piloting skills there as well, and went on to become one of the Alliance's premier pilots. He was instrumental in raids on a number of Imperial outposts, and was part of the team that fled to Yavin 4 to prepare for battle against the Death Star. While
on Yavin 4, Keyan helped familiarize Luke Skywalker on the controls of the X-wing. Farlander flew the Y-wing that leaves the Death Star with Luke, Wedge, and the Millennium Falcon.

My username, used to be my screenname, is just my initials. This current one came up - after I had heard it in several places - from a Sonata Arctica song, where it says "'I never saw anything so white', Call me Ishmael if it ain't a lie". I really like that song, so I just picked the name. I don't remember much of it, I just started using it...
My IRC nick is another story... People are always confused a bit when I come up with a new one... Heh... "Now I'm going to whois you :P"
Hotshot came from a man I thought up on the spot for Combat Flight Sim. Then when I joined #ags everyone started calling me Hotspot anyway :P so I changed it, and in #ags the 16 came from I used to used **111 everytime the name I wanted (the **) was already taken, but in IRC I was too lazy to type the extra 1, so I ended up as Hotshot11, and everyone thought I was 11 -_-;
Quite a long time ago, I started to play Quake over LAN with some of my friends, making it necessary to find a nick. At first I had nicks like Metalizer, Harvester_of_Souls, Reaper_Man etc. (See a pattern there?)
I didn't like any of them much, so I had a new nick about every two weeks.
One day I woke up and had the word "Isegrim" in my mind... (Happens quite often with me: I wake up and have the solution to a problem I haven't thought about for some time... Anyone else share this phenomenon?)
Anyway, some time after I discovered the band "Finntroll", and on one of the bandshirts there is a troll depicted that looks quite like me...
I found that I sometimes DO feel like a troll and that Isegrim is a rather nifty name for a troll.
And so it stuck...
(Btw. Isegrim is the name of the wolf in german fables...)
At one time I was spending an inordinate amount of time at a gaming cafe playing CS (a FP....I mean adventure gameÃ, := ) with my friends. Finding I had need for a nickname, I used what I was called by the said friends. Babloo was in reference to my large mass. Babloyi was born. When I rediscovered AGS and signed up with that name. Later on, after suffering appendicitus and numerous illnesses that all came in succession, my impressively massive frame was reduced to a shadow of it's former self. Realising that I could no longer honour the Babloyi, I decided that it was time to change, and I took the boring path, and chose my own name Babar.
My brother's name was first going to be Petteri, but then my parents thought not. So when I was born, they thought my name will be Petteri. Petteri is my first name.
Using that handy dandy forum-search tool, I found these two topics that dealt with one explaining their forum name:
Why do you have the name you have? thread

Anyway, my forum name is Dart because it was my boyfriend signficant other's childhood nickname. He was christened Dart by his schoolmates because he would always play with his dartboard, and would menacingly throw darts at people he knew (and some at people he didn't). Dart still is his nickname, but I liked it so much that I "borrowed" it from him.
If it wasn't for him, my forum name would probably be Dagger, named after my cat.
EDIT: Thanks for reminding me, Hotty.
Boy friend? you mean significant other?
I saw a Starwars comicbook in a store a couple of years ago, and decided to buy it.
There was some evil sith guy in it called "Executor Sedriss". Sooo.. i figured it sounded cool.
My old nickname everywhere used to be Katt (as my current webpage is still named after) because my favourite game was Breath of Fire II on the SNES and Katt was the coolest character ever (I'm also mad about cats). That name, I soon discovered, is used EVERYWHERE so after a few years I gave it up and chose Kinoko. That means "mushroom" in Japanese, it's cute, I like mushrooms, and it less common than "Katt".
My initials are SCB.
Mine is my first name written backwards with the 'J' upsidedown. I used to just have my username as josh, but it was boring, so I decided I needed a sorta nickname. Somehow I came up with auhsor, and it wsn't to bad, so I stuck with it.
Ali is an easy-to-type and non-gender-specific abbreviation of my less-easy-to-type and gender-specific forename Alasdair.

hardy har har. good job. (under his breath) mr. holmes
You probably never would have guessed this, but I named myself after the character Rincewind from Terry Pratchett's Discworld books/games. Teh Surprise!
"Lo! Behold this tall, stone pointy thing! Who knows it's mystic secrets? Who cares? - Not me, for one."
Well, I recall thread with same topic from the past... far past.
My original first name is Indrek. (don't try to find out what "in drek" means in German :( )
My friends shorten it to "Ints".
Many old games/NeoGeo (whoah!) games accept only 3 letters for a name in hiscore table, so I shortened it to InC.
I AM creative, if there's any purpose for my existence at all.
Very little of my creativity manages to get to the public, because being a perfectionist, no game, drawing, song, etc is never "completed" enough for me to release it and say "Here, that's the best I can do!". So my creativity stays "inside" for most of time.
InCreator.
Well, that's it.
In the games was Rincewind still assistant libriarian at the UU?
A few years ago, some of you (well, Yufster) may remember a guy on lucasforums called Glottis517. Ã, :-[
Then I watched Red Dwarf again when it was on over Christmas and the rest is history.
I have no imagination.
I actually considered changing my nick several times, but I guess lots of people know me as I am now anyways, and they'd probably still refer to me as VWG.
What's in a name anyway? Do you make a judgement on someone based on their name? Obviously the nickname here is something they have specifically chosen, so if it is paticularly 1337 (in the bad way), do you think of them as being.....well.....1337 (in the bad way) before you know them?
If their name is a reference to something vaguely intelligent, do you decide they are a great guy/gal before you see what they are actually like?
In short, does someone's username give a small insight into what they are like & how they should be 'judged' (for want of a better word)?
Discuss.
ffs, you HAD to say discuss *waits for the attack of DGMacphee*
Like most internet folk, I stole my alias.
...what? So sue me!
Pelican is the childhood nickname my dad called me by. Now, its usually: 'Oi you, empty dishwasher!' . Lol.
Pelican - > Big mouth - > Never shuts up
Simple. My friends sometimes call me Jobabe (as in, 'alright Jo, babes?'), but I get far too many sexist comments in chatrooms and such, so I prefer to use Pelican.
well, i`m really (my frinds say) wired, and i stay 23 hours per day working on electronic machines, computers, and programming. Here's a dramatization of me in the year 1997... when I was 14 years old:
Me: "I'm on the Internet! Awesome.... Now, I will search for 'Monkey Island'"
*searches (using WebCrawlerâ,,¢, I believe)*
Me: "Ooh! Everyone has a Monkey Island page. I should have one, too!"
LATER:
Me: "Hmm... account name for Geocities? Well, it seems that everyone has an internet name, so maybe I need one..."
Me: "I'm on the internet... and I love Monkey Island.... interNET + MONKEY island... NetMonkey!... YEAH! BEST NAME EV4R!!1"
*Gets too excited and makes the legendary T.D.I.*
And that's the story of my life. When I was on IRC for a while, the server had nick registration and someone had taken NetMonkey, so then I went under the name NetMonkey2000 because a online buddy of mine had made a mIRC script system called MonkeyScript2000... so it was sort of a reference to it.
Somebody used to call me Yeknomten, so that became my alternate nickname after I finally reacquired NetMonkey. Eventually, I thought it looked neat-o-er in lowercase, not because I'm dumb and have no sense of capital letters.
The end. Go home.

Yeah, at least I suppose so - It's never really mentioned in-game that he works in the library, though.
Still, the history of the games isn't exactly the same as in the books, so... :)Ã,Â
I have three nicks I go under. redruM is the most common, and don't tell me you don't know it! Even if you've never seen or read "The Shining" it's been victim of quite a few parodies! It means "Murder". If you read my signature and couple it with this, you'll assume I'm a sick bastard. Who knows, I might be.
I also use Schattenjager sometimes in stragne forums, usually Portuguese ones, where NO ONE knows Gabe Knight, and I have to explain, ALL OVER AGAIN, that Gabe Knight is the current Ritter heir and therefore Schattenjager (I think - but did he actually get 3 women to love him purely yet? And what DOES "purely" mean? True love or no sex?)
And last but not least, as it's my MSN nick, Jemima. Who is my avatar, actually. My favorite character in "Cats"!
I've used it in a few places before, don't know why I chose it really.
It was just the first thing I thought of at the time.
There are quite exactly two threads like this per year, which isn't very strange since so many new members join all the time.
My nick is more or less based on my real name, Andy Dale. A short version, if you will.
Also, if you re-arrange the letters in ANDAIL, you get the name of a certain irish parliament, in irish.
I started one of those posts dart linked when I was a n00b. Also my spelings and grammer were crap and that. ;)
well. my name comea from my own remedial brain. i was going to the pop aisle in sainsbuirys and i noticed a new brand of fanta. i thought it read zootyfruit. when actually, get this, it said zesty berry. what an interesting insight into the astounding life of sam gray.
Em... I thought it was a cool name, Someone on the FoY website started referring to me as Goethe because of it, although I've only read Marlowe's Faust.
My name is part of my real name:P
my real name is Oliver Rull. So nothing special about it. I'm pretty much in every forum called Oliver, or if Oliver is taken then oliver182. ;)
No lollies for guessing where mine comes from.
I call Australia home.
As many of you know, SSH stands for "Secure Shell" , a secure version of telnet kinda thing.
When I was small, we were so poor that I didn't have a security blanket or toy, I just had a conch shell that I found on the beach one day (my parents sent me to the beach every day to see in anything valuable had washed up that they could sell or pawn, this despite the fact that we lived 50 miles inland). So "conchie" was my constant childhood companion, and often my only friend. When I was 7, Sir Clive Sinclair invented a cheap home computer and so this replaced conchie as my best friend, but I never forgot him. My forum name is thus a memorial to good old conchie, a loyal friend and good listener, even though all he ever replied with were constant sea impressions.
I thought it stood for SuperScottishHero...must have mixed up something else.
Hmm.
I've used my "handle" for a LONG time. See, I used to BBS back in the days of modems, when I was all of 11 or 12. I started out on a 1200 baud modem. Then moved to a blazing 2400 and then an unheard of 14.4 ..... So I started using the handle "BLACKTHORNE" from James Clavell's Shogun, which I read at the time. The 519 part that is sometimes attached to the end is merely my birthday, May 19th, 1978.
I know my first name is Steven........
Bt
I wish I knew why Disco is my forum name. All that I can guess is that I named myself that after Bis made disco cool again....not that it ever wasn't, of course.
Dark Stalkey was the name of my grandmother.
The word Inkoddi is completely random and has nothing to do with anything, therefore i use it.
Quote from: Blackthorne on Thu 16/09/2004 21:39:11So I started using the handle "BLACKTHORNE" from James Clavell's Shogun, which I read at the time.
And here I'd assumed it was a reference to Lord Blackthorn from the Ultima series... oh well.
My forum name is my real name because I really like it.
Hamelkart is made of Ha-Melquart, or Hamilcar, if you want.
Some of you probably know that Hamilcar Barca was the father of the greatest generals ever: Hannibal Barca of Carthage.
I kinda like Carthaginians.
Well, let's see.
I saw a cow once.
Only once? A true HillBilly would probably have seen a cow three or four times at least. Or so goes my reckoning.
Clueless3 (or Cluey as I'm known as on some boards)
simply put, when I was 13, I was clueless about what I wanted to be. My old e-mail was clueless_13@hotmail.com, so it kinda stuck..
Thats so boring.
Okay, seriously:
1. There's alot of farms around where I live.
2. It's incredible fun to say "Hilly", "HillyBilly" or "HillyBillyWilly".
3. I like banjo's.
This has been my pen name (or rather "mouse name") for a long time now. I think it sounds quite good and I choose it before I new I will ever live in Spain. If I ever have the time for the paperwork I might even change it to my real name.
I like being called Al, since it is also a short version of my given first name.
(actually this is quite a boring story - but hell, if reality was interesting, who would play adventure games?)
Ah, what the heck… every one else has done one, George is my middle name (how original) and I chose my avatar because I think Terry Pratchett's version of Death rocks.
I like this hero and I have the same spirit and character as Nemo. And idea of life too. Freedom and friends, you undrestand, yes? :D
Ok, ok, no jokes. Seriously:
I'm REALLY prince Dakkar a.ka. captain Nemo! I'm still alive!
;)
A nickname from back in school. A friend named me this after a conversation about synthesizers in which he kept referring to them as "modulators." So after then he started calling me modgeulator. I originally thought it was a pretty stupid nickname, but then somehow here I am today using it...
Well, I just couldn't think for a good name, and thought why would I need to have one yet? Thus, Not Yet. And later I spiced it up with the three dots: "...", so it's mysterious :D Heh...
I had been exposed to the word a lot as a kid (what with reading plenty of fantasy novels) and eventually took a liking to it. On another forum I had joined I was trying to think of a name change and after reading The Crucible (don't ever believe someone if they tell you the play sucks ;)) and having a line in the play remind me of my liking of the word I then become Calamity. :D
...and I was thinking about Calamity Jane when I first read the name... still a really good name!
Funny you say that because one of my friends now calls me that (and I quite fancy it).
Guess that makes me a cowgirl. ;D
I think, therefore I am.
I think I am Zor, so therefore I am.
Blame Duke Nukem. Blame him. Blame him hard. My name be Zor because of the GBC version of DN. There were aliens. They were called Zorgonites. For a while that was my name, (from sites such as http://games.com/) which then got shortened to Zorgo, which is pretty gay you must admit. At that time, (around last year sometime,) I was watching reruns of The Office a lot and had that word stuck in my head. I like to play with words and soon Office became Orafice (sp?)(a hole). Naturally I combined both and it became Zoraphus, which I realised was equally as long as Zorgonite. So it became just Zor.
That's my life story.
There were gorgonites in small soldiers, yes, not zorgonites, but still...
Don't ask how I know.
No... Not the movie Small Soldiers. The gameboy version of Duke Nukem, the aliens were called Zorgonites.
As you may have already guessed, I'm a lazy person, hence the first part of my nickname. The letter "Z" is a reference to a nickname that my friends use for me; the only thing I'm gonna share about that is that it's derived from my first name and that's that :P.
Some years ago I used to go by "LazyYagami", until I realized that I had become too old to be using a name from King of Fighters.
Zor, I think that hole of yours is "orifice".
I don't think I need to explain mine. I thought when ppl called Threepwood like that in MI was funny, so I used this.
Leone is short for Dr.Leone, and I came up with it when I once played Nick Faldo golf on Amiga 500 with my friends. We were making up our golfer's names and my friend said Al Capone. My turn was next and he suggested Don Corleone. I misheard him and said: 'Yeah, Dr.Leone!'
I've gone through several forum names since I've been here. I started out as Bodyart, then I got sick of that name and decided to change it to something else. I was Dr. Jekyll?~MR. HYDE! (to reflect my horrendous mood swings) for a while, but then I simplified it to Mr. Hyde because I just admitted to myself that I am a real jerk most of the time.

See any connection? Yeah, I know. It's unbeliveable.
Good, first I began as Arcangel but to avoid the confusion with Archangel aka Soup Dragon and he requested me that if it was possible to change it to avoid the confusion. Since it was a time where it was very active in the forum. From then on I am DarkArcangel that was also used for my many years ago.
Hmmm... I am a member of an "independant converted religeous organisation" When i was recruited i was told about "being a Ta'akara of Te'e'ehak"
After i was briefed on what the religeon was about "after the basic info anyway" I said. "So if i'm interested in becoming a 'takkar of tekekak' I should just come back?" the guy remembered the name when i joined the other members called me "the takkar of tekekak"
to make a long story short:
When I was born my parent's gave me the name VIKTOR the jongest (there are more than 6 generations of viktors in my famili- my father my grandfather my gretgrand father etc.). I'm wery proud of my name so I just use it on all the forums and such...
Anyone who's played changeling knows where I got my name from, but the story behind goes a bit deeper than that. In high school I had an RP group who played a lot of changeling and I nearly always played either an Eshu (a storyteller go figure) or a Boggan (kindly 'chubby' fae) so my group gave me the nickname "Bigeshu" and it stuck. Of course I also played Satyrs so I was also nicknamed Lustyboggan BUT that didn't sound too good ^_^.
'Masse' is what those of my friends calls me that thinks Mansfeldt (my surname) is too long. 'Mr' was added 'cos I'm a man, and 'Masse' alone was occupied in the first community I joined. (I use the same name and password in all communities, 'cos else I can't remember it) So now I'm MrMasse.
5 years ago when the Sega launched "SegaNet" for the Dreamcast, Sega claimed that in the first week they had 100,00 subscribers or something like that. I HAD to jump on Console internet when it was new so I signed up, (a week after I had heard). SegaNet, originally, would assign you a user number before you pick a "handle".
You were assigned in order of signup, (1- a billion etc.).
I was given #9.......
I thought, at 21 & coming off the 90's, that DCillusion was poetically ironic. Now it's just easy to remember.

Well, back a LOOONG time ago, I was known as Ater. I still go by it quite a bit when I need to name characters (IE: my character in KOTOR was named Ater). I got that one by mispelling "Al" (My real name is Allister) when typing in a saved game name in "Ecoquest 2". I sitll don't know how I did it, but I did.
Then one time I signed up for this forum (I can't remember what one it was) and I signed up as Ater. Then, I lurked for a few months, and then stopped going all together for a few months.
Deciding to give this whole "Forum" thing another try, I went to log in as Ater. But I had forgotten my password! So I made a new account, this time the name came from "Clerks". It was "Berserker37", which is a combination of the song "Berserker" sung in the movie, and Dante's girlfriend's "Lucky Number".
Then, I while back, I joined a Sonic community. Instead of staying with Berserker37, I decided to combine it with my favorite character from the series. Hence, BerserkerTails was born. BTails, BT, it's a pretty good name. I like it.
Story end.
Well, see, when I was young, I used to shout out the nonsense word, "Oonie!" a lot. I said it so many times that it stuck. Then, I got onto another site and decided I could be called "Oonie", but I had outgrown that, and although nobody would tell, I didn't want to look childish. So instead, I spelled "Oonie" backwards! Brilliant! ::)
well, my is simple, i used the name Blackman890 a lot (often called black man among the others ;))
but then i wanted to change, and i changed into the person in my favorite book serie
[offtopic]
i have noticed now that many user use a combination of a character in a book serie ::)
Btw. "Eino" is a Finnish male name...
Connection to a book? Hmmm... Don't look at me, never read any of 'em.
Well I really hate harry potter (long story) and ive been called that ever since to anoy me but I think Potter is a cool name ;D so ive been called that ever since the 1st book was ever made so thats about 4 odd years now :o. lol. Im also called pottypotter but that is for a total different reason :P
You really hate Harry Potter..... so your forum name is potter?
Its second nature for me to anwser Potter than my real name Robert
even my teachers at school call me Potter
My screen name refers to Norton I of San Francisco, Emperor of the United States and protector of Mexico. I consider myself his rightful heir and sovereign ruler of America, and one day I shall reclaim my empire.
(For those of you from across a border or an ocean, don't worry. I will be a benevolent monarch and shall consider war a last resort when there is no other possibility for peace, unlike the current pretender to the throne. My predecessor is one of the few emperors, if not the only one in all of history, to never oppress, enslave, or cause the death of any living person, and I shall model my reign on his supreme example.)

Cooch is my nickname.
I signed up for a hotmail account many years ago, and I wanted to use the name of my favourite movie character of all time (well ok maybe not): The Predator!
But ofcourse that was already registered, and hotmail gave me a few random choices. One of them was LargoPredator, and since I like the comic Largo Winch, I thought "Heck, I'll take it".
in 1998 I got my first own computer, and my friends thought it would be nice to throw a lan-party because of it. When we were playing Baldurs Gate everybody used their nicks, accept me. So I decided I needed one too. I looked around me and saw one of my comic books lying wich had printed "arboris" on it (the publisher of the book) Wich means something like "of the tree" in latin I believe (or atleast in I thought it meant that back then) And since my team color always was green I thought it would fit nicely.
And they all lived happily ever after...
I'm BMF-inc....The name of my game and cartoon company, which stands for Bogus Meat Factory Incorporated...creators of crap since nineteen eighty three. We wanted it to be something different...Use the three letters to form a very verbosely evil sentence..We had a hit rap song that rang through the nation because of it....you should definatly hear it......for it....is the greatest......song....in the world!

BLEH!
Arboris is the ablative plural case of arbor which is tree in latin. Cornelia et Flavia sub arbore sedet et video marcus cadit in piscinam!
Cornelia and Flavia were seen seducing each other under the tree? :P
Close but its:
Cornelia and Flavia sit under the tree and watch Marcus fall in to the fishpond.
Foget-Aboudit!!
I changed back to Dark of Night.
If it isn't broke, don't fix it!!
Your name is supposed to reflect your personality? That means you are a back stabbing police officer who sneaks around with a knife? :P
And Lost, you put marcus in lower case at the beginning which confused me into thinking it was a word. How could you!
As a child I wasn't able to speak all too well.Ã, My motor mouth skills (said it that way on purpose) weren't very well developed.
So, some things came out weird, very weird.
"Air conditioner"Ã, I dunno why. I had trouble saying that.Ã, It came out "etcher etcher"Ã, (pronounced eh-cher eh-cher)
So, my bigger brother naturally made fun of me about this....
Forward many years later.
My brother and I are discussing making games and such.Ã, He made me promise, remembering my speech problems of many years ago, to call my "company" Etcher Etcher.
Well, now that I discovered AGS I figured I'd keep to my promise, but I decided to add a twist.Ã, Instead of Etcher Etcher, I figured I'd make it sound "cool" by added a 2X or something like that and finally decided on squared and came up with
"Etcher Squared Games"
and that's my silly story
<edit>
Worm III nickname
there are 3 of us brothers
oldest (Kevin) got a scar on his chest, our mom said "It looks like a worm"
it stuck
Kevin became Worm
Craig became Worm Jr.
I (Bryan) became Worm III

Quote
Cornelia et Flavia sub arbore sedet et video marcus cadit in piscinam!
literally translates to :
Cornelia and Flavia sits under the tree and I see Marcus falls into the pond...
shouldn't it be rather:
Cornelia et Flavia sub arbore sedent et vident Marcus in piscinam cadens!
[/geeky]
Don't flame me if that's wrong either. I just haven't acted like a geek for quite some time now ;D
I'm called Christian or Chris, but that nick is always taken. As I'm german, I naturally came up with khris and added the airport of my hometown Munich, MUC.
- The End -
btw: my avatar is Coo, the owl from Kirby's Dreamland 2.
Everyone just calls me Pablo... and I have no idea whyÃ, :-\
btw: My real name is Aapeli. Don't laugh!
Hmmm, I'm not even gonna try this...
I don't really know myself!
That's... kinda sad...
Pffft,
Not as sad as trying to think of a company name and deciding on something with a 'tech' on the end...
*AHEM*

You just like him because he has furry underwarez
Isn't it "He-Man & The Masters of the Universe", the '&' implying he's not one of them himself?
EDIT: I realise it could be 'He-Man and the Other Masters of the Universe', it just seems that he does a bit too much actual work to be a Master. But, then, 'He-Man - Dogsbody of the Universe' doesn't have quite the same ring to it, I admit.
Also, to stay on topic, 'ASH' (as in Evil Dead) was the name I used to use on arcade high-score tables, which only needed 3 letters. Since most 'net things need a name of 5 or more characters I added the N from my real name, and ASH-N became Ashen, as that's a real word, and sounded cool at the time.

I am a french fencing master and alchemist from the XVII century. I've invented this magic apparatus that allows me to communicate with people from the future who use this internet magic.
Rumors that I'm just a guy named "Edgar", who wanted a nick based on his name, and it was either this or the even more lame "Raged" are lies. Lies!
Abisso is the italian word for "Abyss". In the Forgotten Realms (a setting for Dungeons & Dragons campaigns) the Abyss is a hellish plane, where most demons live. I gave this name to one of my most beloved D&D character (a necromancer of Thay, for those who know the RPG), and then I couldn't stop using it everywhere! In fact this is my nick in almost all forums I'm signed.
In 2002: Me: Monkey Island sure is fun. I think I should write a story that will eventually become a book and a movie and a theme park attraction that someone will get inspired by and make an adventure game!
And thus the character of Bluke Zamboni was created.
In 2003: Me: AGS is neato! I want to go on the forums! Bluke.... 4 by 4....
And thus Bluke4x4 was created.
I might show you all my wonderful stories someday. Or not.
I traditionally try Ghost at any new Formum I enlist in. the fun thing is, no matter where I go, Ghost is always already used by someone.
In AGS no-one seems to have wanted the name, so here I am now, Ghost.
Not a long story, but when you know that I was known as VaporeonEvolved, TheRealTantomile, MattRuffFan and GuyWithScissors, it is probably the most stylish and simple name ;D)
First, when I was only 11 or 12 years old, my name in community and games was Rey. Year later, I changed my name to ryman and couple months later, I changed it to RYRAYER. :D MUHAHA. I won't change it to any other names again. I came to stay. 8)

And a logo of the
Livonian Brothers of the Sword on his chest, same colors too.
It was order of knights who dedicated their lives to killing non-christian Estonian and Latvian people in 13th century, during a big crusade in Baltics.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Livonian_Brothers_of_the_Sword
It's quite weird to see the logo we studied whole schooltime in history lessons - on a superhero's chest.
People pubb their dirty shoes on me when they walk into a house.
But I pressed the 't' button for too long.
I've done some edit:
Umm... my forum name? Because my real name is John. :P
Ok, be serious. The word "skurwy" is a neologism somewhat. In Polish "skurwiel" / "skurwysyn" means something like a vulgaric "creep" or just a "son of a bitch". ;) I like that unchoosy humour (you know of what I'm talking about...) and this nick is just for fun. :P
My name is Stuart.
mls are my intials.
q is from Star Trek.
42 is the answer.
The combo came from my first ever time on the net, when I set up a hotmail account. I wanted q42@, but that was taken. When that happens, Hotmail suggests alternatives, most involving your real name.
But then it mixes your real name and what you wanted. And mlsq42@ was one of the choices, and it just clicked. I've used it ever since.
mine is a simaler story
when i was 7 i begged my brother to make me a hotmail. Eventually he did but he called me Thebrat499@hotmail.com after that the name just stuck
because my name is blake and i can flukeass my way out of almost anything
Jade because its my name in english.... :P
It's my real name which I changed to from the crap one my parents gave me.
I picked Bernard after Bernie Taupin, Nigel after a few people (Nigel Bennett, Nigel Olsson--really, I just like the sound of Nigel) and Lara(e)mie from Laramie, Wyoming where Matthew Sheppard was killed and they set up the Laramie Project.
So, from that we get Bernard Nigel Laraemie, or Bernie Laraemie, for short.
~~Bernie
In "Clockwork Orange" Alex refers to himself as "your humble narrator" so when I did my profile page on my first webcomic I called myself "your humble cartoonist." Then I made it my dA name and soon it became my forum handle.
Don't really know how I came to it. Don't bother either.
;)
Me and my friend would always ride the bus home from school. If he got sick of me talking he would start repeating the word "Slosh," a word from a play that I directed in school. I would counteract with "42" from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Later on....
I was trying to think of a cool design name to create games. So I took the s from slosh and added 42. Thus S 42 studios was born. And seeing as I am the only person in it right now, i call myself S42man.
It is a personal so we don't want to share it with the whole world.
Now you will dream our forum name and you will ask yourself what that mean. But you will never know never ever bbbbbbbuuuuuuuuuuuuuaaaaaahhhhaaaaaaaaaa ::)
The Corey is the name of the leadsing of 2 bands, one called Slipknot, one called Stone sour :P
My brothers and I used to play the game "Worms 2," and the most powerful weapon you could possibly get was the concrete donkey, where it would make loud braying noises and utterly annihilate the worms around it and destroy the ground beneath it. One day I called it the "Nipper Strike" for some reason (can't remember why) and used the name Donk_E_Rounda (nipper was supposed to be his pet) for alot of things account names after that. Eventually I started to just use Lord_Nipper, which became King_Nipper after a password mishap.
Because my old screeny Squalman had a password in which i cannot remember for the life of me (ill remember someday ill say) and because ive made a few others i think (which ive forgotten) at random "comebacks" i figured i would clear it up. This is TheRealSqualman. And no other. Of course this name requires previously knowing or hearing of me i guess ><.
This is easy, and you'll never guess why it is as it is... that's right, I didn't feel productive as I signed in. Thus I went off with my name... actually the second name, but as it's my calling name.. Tuomas... from Finland... Yipee. Well, there you have it!
Once upon a time there was a very stupid gameboy game called...dare I say it.... Pokemon!!!! BUM BUM BUM!!!
I played it once...only once...and then it burned...
What this has to do with my name...you will soon learn.
You see, your character must have a name..So I went in a pattern, starting with the letter "A", I went down one, right one, and came to "K". I continued this pattern to the bottom of the screen, and then went back up. The name appeared:
AKUYQLE
Now for the evolution of AKUMYQLE
AKUYQLE (Pokemon)
AKUMULE (Old Runescape)
AKUMAYA (New Runescape)
AKUMAYO (AGS)
There you have it...
Voh is short for vohaul. For those who still don't know - get educated!
I started out as BuffaloGamer when i first joined the forums, then i switched to Dark of Night and i kept that name for over a year, but it made me sound like i was a Goth or somebody who worshipped the night time. That really didn't describe me at all.
So last night, i was thinking of changing my forum name, and it suddenly hit me. I love Genesis, I love Invisible Touch, and one of my favorite songs on that album is DOMINO. So i changed it. It is a great song, but even better live. So hopefully this will remain my forum name for the rest of my days here.
I saw Genesis live back in 1992 in Syracuse, and DOMINO was one of the best songs played. I still get goosebumps listening to it.
Take care all,
Shawn
My real name is Nikolas Sideris. Just that! No time to think of a great, clever forum name. It's all about communication... :=
Well for me it's kind of a long story.
It all started when I was born. I was completely bald, so they gave me Magoo as a nickname (bassed on the bald character Mr.Magoo). Right now it doesn't make any sense since my forum name is Mugs, but the pieces will go together soon. When I was about 11, me, my brother, and my cousin were playing this card game called "Wizard". The game came with score sheets which had those very small name spaces. My cousin, writting the names down, desided to put Mugs as a short version of Magoo, and that's it.
I don't really know where that 'gameboy' came. Maybe because I am a boy (that's for sure) and I make games? Well at least I don't like this name actually, but very long time ago I started using it in the forums, and now I can't just change it.
Actually my name is Kristjan, but this name was already used in this forum...
Over five years ago I went on to Yahoo! and became a member. I wanted my name to be in it, but "Matt" had already been taken. I went for something catchy, and being an energetic crazy dude back then, I went for ManicMatt. But it was taken. So it became ManicMatt3, but that was taken! So it finally became ManicMatt3uk and whenever I can I will not use the 3uk bit. Why a three? Because... ManicMatt1 and ManicMatt2 and ManicMatt1uk and ManicMatt2uk were taken too.
You really don't want to know. Trust me.
The Limping Fish Of South Dakota was mentioned in an old Monthy Python book for kids called "Uncle (somethings) Book Of (something)". It was along time ago and I forget the title. :P
When I wrote a letter to C+VG (old UK videogames mag), I signed the letter "The Limping Fish". I believe it was the Nov or Dec '89 issue. :o
I though I was being rather hilarious...
...I was wrong.
I don't exactly know where Mwahahaha came from, but it seemed to fit in later when I used a picture of bowser from paper mario as my avatar on a certain forum and got the unofficial nickname "paper bowser", which seems to fit in quite well with the name "mwahahaha" and later my lesser used username, "Master of Evil".
wrestler idea...
Ever played Star Wars KOTOR 1? well if not then; Revan Is the name of the sith your after

since victor usually is taken on forums and websites, i didnt even bother to check if it worked, and typed in vict0r instead...
Hey ho hey ho!
And off to work we go... ::)
My name, "Grapefruitologist," is... well isn't it obvious?
I'm a mad amateur scientist obsessed with grapefruits.
That is, I've mummified limes, made leather out of citrus peels, and right now I'm in the proccess fossilizing a lime...
Why? I really don't know.

My name Clip....
well i was just whatching VIVA+ and there was this program called "Get the clip" (I'm not sure what it suposed to mean).
and there it came "Clip"
I'm german. 'nuff said. ;D
No, actually this is what a friend's grandma heard, when I told her my real name. Obviously she got it all wrong.
Mr.Crow -
this name is double derived, its the short name of my FPS nick Mr.Crowbar.
Also Crow is the name of the Developing team here, Myself Primary programmer and Artist, Mark, Tester, Artist Secondary programmer, and Alex Sound Developer.
The full name of the team is Crowbar Games.
In the cartoon series Tale Spin, Baloo's airplane is named Sea Duck.
Mine comes from: "Yes, it's Superman - STRANGE VISITOR from another planet who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men!" I was trying to think of a cool superhero related name for my "company title" (even though I'm a one-man company :)...it's going to be a running gag in all my intro screens for future games I make. In "Henchman" the O in VISITOR is the planet earth, and a spaceship goes crashing into it. In the eventual "Chicken" game, the O is an egg that hatches. In the eventual "Tourist", it's the lens of a camera. So on.
Once uppon a time lived a kid. This kid was named Krasimir. It was a nice name but the kid wanted a cool nickname... So using his limited english-speaking skills the kid decided Krysis sounds fun. The kid grew up and the stupid name stayed. End of story...
Well, Krud was the name of the main character in a fantasy novel I'd started... X number of years ago... and when I got online, I started using that as my pseudonym.
However, I soon discovered that "Krud" (along with nearly every other four-letter combo out there) was not all that unique a monicker, so I appended it to read "Krudmonger", giving it a whole new connotation (no relation to the Poopsmith of Homestar Runner infamy.)
Well, there is a little bit of controversy for the origin of the name Smooth
Some would say that I got the name for saying just about the worst things in social situations.
Other would argue that I got the name when I shaved my head on a dare.
Even others would argue that the name comes from the fact that when ever I go fishing the water turns choppy. People would say that my resposne to the question " it's getting pretty rough out here" was always, "No way, it's smooth sailing" and that response would get us capsized or atleast wet our pants.
Choose what you want to believe, I sometimes got with #1 mixed in with a bit of #2. When I get drunk I tell #3 ( it's a better story). By the way, the "H" is capitalized because I modeled the sig off of Todd McFarlane's.
My name is utterly random.
I'm told there is an anime character with the name I use but i've never seen the anime nor do i remember what it was called.
Another place I saw Allustar was a mistyping of the Aluminum material called Alustar.. which is very close.
I've had other nicks like Ieremiou (Greek form of my real name), OddworldEx (from the game Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus (one of my favorite games)), astrospy002/008 (two nicks of which I had combined several interests : Astronomy, Spy Agents, and the infamous license to kill numbering), I've had a few others pop up here and there for other reasons but are not very memorable.
Binky because of Death's Horse in Discworld, Binky the clown from Garfield, and because you can never take someone called "binky" entirely seriously.
Captain, because "binky" is always taken as usernames and there's nothing I loathe more than having to put random numbers afterwards. Plus the authoritarian tone clashes nicely with Binky.
My real name is Archduke Conflabulator Pestilute Spork IV but that takes a bit too much time to type in.
my forum name is named after my site, www.freewebs.com/yodaman11111
Krazy was just the name of this idiotic rabbit character I used to draw.
Don't draw him much anymore but I guess I liked the name.
Lol thats a great character make an adventure with him, please!
Well my sotry began long long ago.. I got the internet and it started
first it was for the sake of trying of having a kewl name...
Frost Then i realised not that kewl (This is when i made naimated cursor movies like jumping man in sig) But I did aliens and demons and stuff! They were great! Anybory have them?? Please i lost all of them :(
Phsyco Puppy Well I was still young and well always doing the crazy stuff just made sense
Occult I became older and drew mostly evil stuff and so on...
Afflict Well I guess this is really just a matured Psycho Puppy. :)
af·flict (-flkt)
tr.v. af·flict·ed, af·flict·ing, af·flicts
To inflict grievous physical or mental suffering on.
I like the mental suffering more :)
I only had 4 names as I can remember:
Reven (the name I registrered with) : This is what I called myself before in my bands.... (I dont use it anymore though).
Assassination : I made games under Assassination Entertainment before, thats why that name.
M I E: I changed the name I made games under, but change it quick to W H E (White Hawk Entertainment.)
I decided to use what I use now;
Peder Johnsen: that is my name...
My avatar is Ben from Full Throttle. He was the leader of the Polecats. 8)
Scorpio because its my star sign and phoenix because i liked the sound of it!. simple as that!!. ;D
Coolest chara EVER btw (Ben that is)
Mine comes from a song I wrote ("Sister Cheeba", which is occasionally used as my full nick elsewhere), which was in turn inspired by the Donnas song "everybody's smokin' cheeba" , which should give some idea of its meaning to anyone wondering ;D
Aside from the obvious connotations, I just liked the way it sounds.
I came across this thread today and I am bored so I figured i would bore everyone with the meaning of my screen name:
It is actually pretty obvious and simple; I graduated from college with a minor in fine arts and I love to paint, draw, etc...also, I am a bit of a freak by most standards (and my major was psych...so i know a little about "standards")...and there you have it Artphreak (I used ph rather than f because it seemed snazzier)
The story behind my avatar is also very simple...it is one of my (currently six) tattoos, on my right arm/shoulder that i designed with the tattoo artist.
my name TIMLUMP
is because of 2 reasons
firstly:my name is TIM and i'm lazy
and
secondly:when I typed my real name into geocities my web host, it said not available but TIMLUMP2001 is, so its stuck.
I also go by the name of TAD if you see me online gaming.
My surname is of course the name of the famous text adventure. Also, in other forums, (Like the World of MI forums) I go by the name of Adventure_Knight. (Its because the manual calls the hero of Atari Adventure just a ''knight''.)
Mad-Hatter.
Anyone who's seen Disney's "Alice in Wonderland" will immediately recognize my name as the host of the Mad Tea Party.
Anyone who's read the actual book by Lewis Carroll ("Alice's Adventures in Wonderland") will probably be a bit confused as the host was really the March Hare, and the character my name refers to was simply named Hatter (or 'Hatta" in "Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There").
Anyone who's not read the book or seen the movie would probably be wondering what I'm talking about.
"Mad-Hatter" describes me well enough... We're all mad, and I wear hats... from time to time.... (we're going to pretend the definition of a hatter is one who wears hats)
Thinking back on it, I should have just chosen the name from Douglas Adams' "So Long and Thanks for All the Fish":
Wonko the Sane
my forum name is the name of a character played by adrian edmonson in my fave comedy show entitled bottom.
Hokay, kids! Here goes! ;D
I'd say my name is pretty obvious. One of the instruments I play is the trumpet. But the silver ones are better than the gold ones. And I'm such a nerd about it, I either use that name, or trumpet_nerd.
I need a life.
At uni I was doing a marketing subject and we needed a company name, so I came up with CMonkey, because I was learning C at the time, and... was monkeying around with it, so to speak. It was about that time I found AGS and signed up on the AGS forums.
Sometimes I also go by the names Blue MnM, chameleon, and lollygobble. I kinda wish I could pick one and stick with it, but every time I find one taken somewhere I make up a new one.
Ernest Renan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Renan) is not the source of my e-sobriquet.
I simply made it up. It was initially the middle name of a fictional character from a novel I was writing. It is now the first name of a fictional character from a novel I am writing.
I am a digimon for the longest time and all of my names have digimon related names, so that explains the mon half.
Gin means gold, and Anubis just rocks.
So it comes out to: gold Anubis monster.
Inspired by teh great Buckhead (http://www.bucketheadland.com)
Gypsysnail - lol well I was nicknamed Snail 11 years ago after being silly with a game - some of you being game lovers probably will know this game, Freddy Frontier Pharkas lol. Well the snail stampede that happened on that game, one day I was playing and up to that part when I decided to be silly with my friends and got a snail close up and imitated the cute little foolish snail and my friends said the imitation was so on the mark and the nick has stuck since hehehe. I am odd and proud to be that way :D. Then I went by and still go by the nick rebelsnail (and have a website on this - its down at the moment tho, under reconstruction sorry). Gypsy snail is a recent addition because I love to travel and love all things gypsy, magical spiritual and imaginative ;). But snail is my true trademark hahaha.
I became a spirit fairy with the Site Fights a web site comp group and had to pick a fairy name well I had just got out of the shower and my hubby said I looked Dew Kissed thus I became Dewkiss but he called me dukis most of the time.Ã,Â
Well, obviously from the classic Beatles tune I am The Walrus! It happens to be one of my favorite songs by the Fab 4......
I am born in the month of lion and year of monkey (in horoscope), so I made my nickname Lionmonkey.
In 2005 I started making animations in powerpoint.
Eventually I started calling myself 'The Creator' since I 'created' animations ;)
(I didn't know spaces were allowed when registering, now I'm just 'Creator')
Stupot is the universally accepted nicknsme for Stuart.. which happens to be my real name, if you didn't guess.
back when i used to play dungeons and dragons i always used to play an elf and when i was making short fantasy films i used to play an elf. (the LOTR type elf not the santa type or the tiny ones who help out the cobbler hehe) So ive had the nickname elf for about 15 years now
Guess where "Akatosh" comes from.
...
...
...
Right, The Elder Scrolls. Picked that nick when Morrowind was brand new and used it since back then.
Ok, I'll play...
"Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun.
Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-two million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea."
Now, on this planet, in a country which has such a ridiculous name - nobody's ever heard of it anyway -, in a flat in its capital city a small child was born.
That child grew and grew until it was time for kindergarten. Now, during this period the child was attracted by a certain machine called a computer.
The computer wasn't very advanced and permitted the boy to play only silly undeveloped games or write lots of "programming" lines without saving them.
As the boy grew older, he got more and more attracted to games and programming. He wanted to make games. He wanted to write their code from scratch and do their graphics. When the boy reached the age of fifteen and completed 8th grade, a new universe opened up to him: The Internet.
Soon, he discovered AGS and the rest is history. Now, about the name?
Well, when I was a kid, I always put in my projects a generic game company name. Now, since my name was Dan N-(the rest cut out for ridiculous name purposes), I attached to it Games. Hence, Dan N. Games. But since I was an idiot back when I created my nick, I used GameZ... It stuck. I hate it. I want to change it.
I'm thinking of changing it to what my classmates call me... Traffic. But that would probably just confuse the hell out of you guys.
A little out of topic, but that "company name" thing seems to be a major issue. I actually started off with "DraZcomp", for reason which will never be revealed to mankind, and then actually shifted to "Super PixxelZ". I mean, how lame is that? Super PixxelZ! I even have a logo left from these futile ages: (http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a23/FAMILIAR_QUEST/PixxelZ1.jpg)
:P :P :P
Luckily, I shifted to "Knollware Entertainment" by now. I'm quite happy with it.
It all started when I was looking for a cool name to post on the KQIX site.Ã, They had just been told by VU that they had to call their game something other than KQIX and they named it The Silver Lining.Ã,Â
So I went to an on-line thesaurus and typed in "silver lined" and a really interesting word "ciborium" popped out.Ã, I then looked up the word and checked Google for pictures to find out what it was.Ã,Â
It is aÃ, container that houses comunion bread, which represents the body of Christ. (Okay, okay, it is a Roman Catholic vessel which houses the Eucharist Host Wafer, which when blessed by the Priest is trans-substatiated into the Body of Christ, according to the Catechism.Ã, But I'm Presbyterian, so I don't believe in trans-substantiation.Ã, [Let me be anathematized.])Ã, Anyway, I thought it fitting to take it as my screen name, and use it on all the sites I visit.Ã, I pray that I can live up to the moniker I have chosen.
BTW,Ã, I created the picture of one in Blender.Ã, It's the only thing I've made in Blender that I consider finished.
'Tis the name I use on my website.
Stop staring at me I have no idea why I chose it!
Well I got the name Unknown Terror a long time ago.....
I just invented the nickname after long thoughts of what'd be a cool online name for FPS's & RPG's etc.. When i was about 12 i told some people in school about my nickname, and forever since then whenever i'd see them they'd shout "Unknown Terror!!!" After a while they just cut it down to "Unknown" but i thought it was cool anyway.
funnily enough now, when they see my younger brothers they have acquired the names "Little Unknown" & "Tiny Unknown" hehehe which i found quite amusing
-----
My usual internet alias used to be Sum_Dood2003 (It's my email, to this day), but I kinda got bored with it, so I took up the name one of my Dungeons and Dragons characters had. The 87 is an in-joke with my friends.
To recap: DnD + In-jokes = Milo87!
It's a song.

Would I be safe to assume that your signature is refering to one of the best friggin' albums ever!?
Mine is reference to a small music project I have.
Uhh, best ever, I don't know about that! But one of my favourites at the moment.
So let me start:My name is Magyar Vilmos it is a hungarian name
and "vilmos" means: William
Then i thought my nickname have to be William The Conqueror,
but it was too long so i worte only the initials and the q from Conqueror.
And from this you got: Wtcq :o
You're already sleeping didn't you :)
My forum name is Jon. My real name is...Jon ;)
Well. I played Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and my character was named Laril. She was my first Star Wars character so I decided I'd use her name with my birthdate November 1987, thus Larino87 was born. yeah
My user name is vertigoaddict.
Vertigo= an event in which you suddenly feel dizzy or get a headache.
Addict= a person who feels they cannot stop having something.
Whenever I ge vertigos my vision looks cool! the colours and all become extremely vivid! As a kid I'd like to turn round and round till I get dizzy; nowadays I have this habit of walking in circles whenever I think and I get great ideas (it's like making myself dizzy forces my head to think before it gets a headache)
I'm a vertigoaddict! no, I'm not going to rehab...
My original name idea was Noobtube, but apparently, that's already a thing.
So, I just took the name of the hero of the Odyssey, and added a 'd,' because everyone knows that purposely misspelling things is what all the cool internet kids are doing nowadays.
Also, it forms the word 'odd,' and everyone also knows that cheesy puns are the one thing KEWLer than intentional misspelling.
I named myself "Caesar" in CS (I know - shame on me..) because the name designates power etc.. ;)
Then people kept calling me Caesi, which sounds pretty cute - quite the opposite of what I wished for.. :)
Ughh.. I'm absolutely interested with the Holocaust? Yeah, that's it.
Kuroishin means, in Japanese, Black and New.
Since 7years ago I changed my life into a whole new thing, I liked Shin as a nick.
Then I discovered that my new life was black, so Kuroishin was better.
Shin
I'm not really sure. I like sharks and I thought it was catchy.
Although now I realise it may seem like I have some kind of shark fetish, which was not my intention. :-X
I tend to favor real world names over internet-ey deliberately mis-spelled camelCaps concoctions followed by a string of numbers. Kudos to those of you with tidy names. The rest of you- join us and swell the ranks of the righteous! It's not too late! ;)
A million years ago Diablo 2 was released, and I, for lack of a better multiplayer RPG, was a huge addict (despite my intense hatred of the game). "Sparky" was a sorceress who specialized in lightning spells, named after a dog. Which I suppose makes me a person (named after an imaginary sorceress (named after a dog)).
I've posted before but what the fick i can abuse more of those rules. I had so many wonderful nicks: NarIthan, Kurt4294(wrong date by the way), JustLedZep and I chose dualnames. Dualnames stands for my two surnames. My full name is Jim Thanasias-Spanos. So dual names. I could choose twonames but I was so lame that I chose dualnames. My name is Jim "Dualnames" Span because I hate my first surname then a basketball player called Vasilis Spanoulis had a nick : V-Span so I chose that. End of Story.
End of story?
This sound like the begining of a noir film or something. What a story about a nick... ;)
I too once a long time ago, had a cool and meaningful name, just like you guys, with a story to tell about it.
However, back in a day I started playing World war 2 online and when signing up my cool and meaningful name had allready been taken by some zitty teenager (like me I presume).. after many many attempts at other lesser cool names, all which had been taken aswell. I finally, in desperation, because I wanted to play the game I just bought, ended up writing my own name.. just to realise that it was also taken..
then I slammed a one on it and it got through..
..I wish I had a witty and cool name like you..
I'm a blues singer. A rubbish one, but a blues singer nonetheless...

The Emerald has always been my callsign. My main penname is James Joseph Emerald, my birth-stone is an emerald (may), and has always been my favourite gemstone (yes, I have a favourite gemstone...)
Also, I'm from Ireland - The 'Emerald Isle' - and emerald green is my favourite colour. Emeralds are also the most valuable gemstones, and are connected with mysticism and legends...
To be honest, though, it was a spur-of-the-moment decision based on a random word that popped into my head (which I've chosen to forever brand myself with...) :P

In arcade games I was DAN or Daniel,
Then for a brief period* I was EricHalfBee (after a certain Monty python song)
Now I'm DanielH, Real name, Daniel John Hurton.
*I Still am EricHalfBee, If you ever play Age of empires 3 online, drop me a line.
It's from a song by R.E.M.: Nightswimming.
I've always thought that to be a beautiful song, I used to sing along with it to train my singing voice and as a result I learned the lyrics to the song.
Now, as you may know, Micheal Stipe isn't the most lucid songwriter. There was one line which I didn't understand but struck a chord with me:
"I'm pining for the moon / and what if there were two / side by side in orbit / around the fairest sun."
An image kept orbiting around in my head (I've made an animation based on it which I use in my game as an intro screen) and somehow the word twinmoon sounded good to me.
Fee
Short for Fenix.
nuff said.
My nickname is Blue because I am a smurf...
..(Or at least that's what others tell me ;D)
Anyway, about ten years ago, I needed to come up with a nickname for myself, and I ended up with BlueAngel (yeah I know it's a bit cheesy, but I was young hehe).
It stuck with me for many years though, and I even got myself a homepage with that name..
A few years ago I realized that perhaps I was too old now to go with that name, but instead of choosing a whole new name, I got rid of the angel part, and went by Blue.
Blue is of course my favourite colour, but I suppose that's obvious ;)
Mine is simple, easy to remember and surprisingly available whenever I join new forums. It's also the first letter of my first name. My friends call me Sam, after my initials.
Twin moons,
I dig. That song is an awesome song.
As for me, my friend made this sticker with the big mean dude from the original doom game (the minotaur looking baddy with the huge gun on his arm ) and did some other stuff with it and titled it yukon horror. He gave me the sticker, I put it on my wallet, and I have liked the name since.
SSH picked up on it in his blog (http://ags-ssh.blogspot.com/2008/03/more-game-releases.html), somewhat.
Step 1 - Being that I'm a G1 TransFormers fan, when signing up to a LazyTown forum I went with the name Ultra Magnus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultra%20Magnus) (being a rather lame pun on Magnús Scheving (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magn%C3%83%C2%BAs%20Scheving)'s name) and created the following to serve as my avatar.
Step 2 - Seeing as that is the name by which I am known within the LT community, I figured I should use it when referring to myself within the LazyTown game (demo) I made, for simplicity's sake.
Step 3 - Seeing as that is the name by which I refer to myself in the game, I figured I should also use it around this place, for simplicity's sake.
True story.
Well, the legend goes that a young vigilante decided that he wished to be counted among the legions of the Mighty AGS forums. He had no name, at least, not until he purchased an Xbox 360, which demanded a unique code name for every individual. The young vigilante decided to go under the moniker of The Awesome, partly because he wanted people to think that even though he might suck at the games he played, he would just be an awesome dude to be around. And now he's here, typing this out, hoping someone might care.
Cirius was born an lowly traveller on the Discworld MUD approximately 5 years ago. After a brief stint training to be an assassin, his life was tragically brought to an end by a mutated cabbage.
Revived several months later, Cirius returned as a homocidal wandering personality who had somehow achieved the ability to transfer between host bodies.
Tiring of his life in a stagnant short story, he took the advantage of his creators distracted mind to escape to first Operation Flashpoint, where he followed a successful career as a bullet magnet, and later to such star-flung realms as Homeworld and briefly EVE.
Dwelling more permanently within Second Life, Cirius continues his quest to actually stay alive for more than five minutes without having his life brought to an amusingly short end.
As an aside, through an intense knowledge of Dr Who, and an overwhelming fascination with rubbing two inventory items together, he inevitably found his way onto the AGS forums.
And that, brings us in a rather round about way, to here.
There once was a man named Pepe Juan. He was a pretty crazy guy.
He broke comics and doesn't afraid of anything.
In other words, my name just means The Crazy Guy in Spanish, slangified (in other words, using-made-up-words-that-make-sense-for-the-local-idiom-speakers) slightly for a touch of originality. At least, the "ejo" part of "Tipo", which stands for "Guy".
And I happened to have made an inside joke some time ago about a random omni-potent-like stereotypical Mexican (I think there's some rule where it's fine if you're a member of a race to make fun of your stereotype openly) that could do things such as reach out from one comic panel to punch a guy in the next, or end a comic early by removing the 'picture frame' of a panel, thus deleting the pun from the strip altogether, and so forth. Aside from the powers of messing with a comic's layout, Pepe Juan was pretty much used for every single aspect of my hypotheticals, anecdotes, and general ramblings. "I bet they have Pepe Juan working on killing psychopath clowns in the sewers", for example.
... Anyway. There. Back-story. Not exactly glamorous, but a story nonetheless.

And it's a Classical City
And it's the species name for a lady bug - the las two I only worked out when I'd had the name for about a year!
Aulis
It's as obvious as it seems, I'm a chick and I like rock music. :)

Back in 1997, I've spent a lot of time in playing Duke3d *cough* even over LAN *cough*
And during one of those Duke-Nights, I was pretty good in getting a frag without doing much for it ;) One of the other players got a pesky about it, shouting "Ohh.. Abstauber..." everytime I got a frag. This was so annoying that I called myself Abstauber to make him shut up ::)
Well, that worked but since then I've been stucked with this awful nick.
Abstauber could be translated as "opportunist" and verb would be "to scrounge sth." As I've registered here again, I chose my old nick in the hope that someone could remember me (as I've been around this place in 2000/2001)...
Anyhow a nick is just a name ;)

You are only an idiot
Mine is a combination of Little LADdie: who is my 5yr old guinea pig, SCAmpy my 7yr 4 month old cavalier king charles dog.
It's my surname spelt backwards - I found it has a nice sound to it, tends to confuse people, and is very rarely used by others!
I changed my user name to Paper Carnival because I've changed a lot since the times of my old nickname. I certainly don't want other people here associate me with that idiot := (because, apparently, whatever internet people think about me is very important ::))
What it means? Well, nothing in particular. It seems to be unique. It's inspired by a greek rock song called Paper Circus.
Uh, it's a long story I guess.
It all began years ago when lemons were the sweetest fruits available and onions were natural accessoires for a gentleman's belt. The internet was almost unknown back then. The few existing computers did weight several tons, had around 2 Megabyte RAM and cost around ten thousand dollars.
Well, I met a nice american WWII veteran who collaborated with and fought for the soviets. His friend, a soviet renegade who fought among the americans to destroy communism once and for all gave me a bomb I should use to destroy the only 'personal' computer available at that time. It was located in a factory where coal was made out of babies, just there to check if the kiddies were worth the amount of coal produced and to locate new day-care centers for new resources. Some hippies protested against that kind of industry. One of them was a nice guy who told me how to use PCs and what can be done with them. Well, he gave me a little bug in a box which was his most beloved pet, really. He said I should place the bug on the computer and let him do his work. The point was that the bug had a virus that would infect the PC. I considered that a silly rumor, but since I wanted to use neither the bomb of the american soviet nor the magic lotion this little fairy (I didn't told you about yet) gave me I agreed to take the little bug with me.
After I used needle on door_lock I was able to get inside the factory and get to the PC. It was a damn huge thingy with an even larger sign on it: M.A.T.T.I. I figured out that the only meaning could be: "Miscellaneous Accessoires To Tyrannize Infants".
I thought that it would be funny to use that as a nickname in the future when PCs are cheaper, smaller and have access to the internet. Ah, and I lost the bug fighting with employees who suddenly appeared and ran away without doing anything against the factory. Ah, well, whatever..
No, seriously, Matti is just my 2nd name.. ahem..
Because Butterfly soended wrong and I don't like Dragonflies much...
Bottom line, I like the idea of a flying bug and Firefly had the right ring to it :)

I acctually have a story behind my name! 8)
My real name is Jakob but I had a freind who didn't like that name. So he kept coming up with nicknames for me, and one that stuck was Puck.
Years later I had a show with my death metal band. Before the show I drank way too much caffein, and when I got out on stage I got a huge addrenalin rush.
This caused me to start shaking uncontrolably, but my freinds knew what the real reason was. I was evolving into BULBAPUCK
I liked it so much that I decided to use it. It's practcal since nobody else has that name anywhere. If you google it you only find stuff about me. ;)
Hmm, I remember the story to be funnier... guess you had to be there :=

Just to keep on topic - as far as I can remember, I was borred with learning latin and then I found there's a dictionary of latin names at the back of the dictionary, so I picked and modernised one of them, Anicius is a roman family and one of them was a general that fought a king from Illirya (where I'm generally from)...so I kinda shortened it and make it sounds like a laser beam... :P

"NEON-GAMES" is my fictive company :P
There once was a boy named Timothy,
He moved to Korea, friends said he looked like a gangster.
Thus, they gave him a random name called Tecyang (which just means gangster for god's sake)
Then, when they realised that he has a quirky hobby of playing point-and-click adventure games,
And liked to go to the Big Blue Cup,
They decided to call him Taeyang (Gangster Fail)
I would like to thank my friends in Korea who gave me this name which I happen to use only in AGS, BBC and in the future, my very own games.
Lets see... It all started when I was coming up with a name to use for Age of Mythology (maybe?) and I was having trouble thinking of something unique and semi-clever. All I knew is that it had to have "13" in it somewhere because that is my favorite number.
I thought about it for about a week. During this week, whenever anyone would ask me about my name, I would say "I don't know. Its going to be something, followed by the number 13."
After awhile I realized, why not just make my name something13?
And thats how my name came to be ;)

One day i am clearly going to change my name to Calin Leafshade.
and then fight evil.
Or you'll get killed by some paranoid Fantasy literature fanboy.
I used to play an MMORPG and talked to the people I played with on Ventrilo.
My handle (and my actual real-life nickname) is the result of a friend's accidental combination of my name and our buddy Johnathan, since we both had very similar voices and were confused very easily. I said something, and confused as to who was speaking she said: "Domi...John..? Dominic..Johnathan.....Domithan?"
When I was younger I used to use evil guy's name as my nicknames (in games usually), 'cause they had cool names usually. I used "Sheltem" and "Alamar" in many RPG's I played (sometimes to name two heroes in a party) - these were real and pseudo names of the main boss in Might&Magic 4,5. Then, I used "Shadow Weaver" as a forum nickname for a while - it was a name of main boss in the old "Summoning" (http://www.mobygames.com/game/summoning) RPG.
Now, about "crimson wizard".... funnily, although I use this name for only about 4 or 5 years max, I hardly remember the origins... I think it was a silly joke invented a while ago, about "communistic order of wizards" in the fantasy world, who live in the red tower with Lenin's statue on top, or something like that. :P

I have played all three Gabriel Knight games and I love the Grace Nakimura character.
Mst people might think it has to do with the actual "general Henry Knox" from boston...but thats just a really weird ko-inke-dink.
It all started a long time ago when I used to play Swat 3 online with the L*A*P*D team...so much fun! I had to find a name quickly...I liked the character "Knox Overstreet" from Dead Poet's Society...and just stuck a "general" infront of it so it seemed more military-ish...hehe :P

I've used this name for many of my forum presences ever since :P
Morshu is the name of the shopkeeper in those old, ridicoulos Zelda CD-I games. I always liked this character and rewrote his name to "MMMorshew" randomly. I put the three Ms at the beginning of the name because of the way he emphasizes the "Mmmh..." after he told Link that he can`t give credit.

Poc301 started out ages ago in the ELiTE BBS scene of the early 90s before the internet as we know it.
Originally my alias/handle was Prince of Chaos (a book in a series I love), but that got very tiresome to type all the time, so I used to abbreviate it to PoC. Then it morphed to PoC301 since 301 was my telephone area code when I was young.

It's the name of the second episode of my favourite anime series, Cowboy Bebop ;D
It's also a reference to the song "stray cat strut" apparently but that's wasted on me..
It's quite a new nickname for me: Previously I went under the handles rockyrobin1983, garfield and the only real life nickname i've been gifted: rambo.
My blog used to be called Sympathy for the Devil (another CB reference and the Guns N' Roses song) but it also become Stray Dog Strut and I decided to stick with it when I joined the AGS forums.
Oh and the cheeky little chappie in my profile pic is my (sadly now passed away) dog Rocky :)
My username is similar to a rebus. Just say it as it sounds:
Gee, you are okay.
I was 13 when I made it up, and there was originally a "Ricic" preceding it. RicicGurok was good enough for Yahoo! Chat on a 14.4K modem, back in '97 or so.
Crash, because that's my nickname, and PL, as I'm from Poland (and I believe the username 'Crash' was already taken here), 'nuff said.
As for nickname 'Crash' alone - it was around 97 or 98, while using my super duper dial-up I had to register somewhere and type a username. I had no idea what to put there, but since I was playing Crash Bandicoot at the time, I decided to just type 'Crash'. And that's how it came to be, used this nickname ever since.
It's Japanese for "you are a massive weeaboo".
More to the point, Amayirot is Toriyama spelled backwards, as in Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball. Akago is some mangled Japanese meaning "Red Five", Luke Skywalker's pilot callsign.
It's the name of a fictional character I wrote about in a short story, over fifteen years ago.
It was a crappy story about a powerful (or over-powered if you prefer) wizard, who lets himself get executed because people are scared of him. Secretly though he fakes his death and lives out his life as a hermit.
I'm not sure how I made his name, I think I put it together at random.
When I got onto the internet for the first time roughly a decade ago, I had to come up with a username for my accounts, since I knew not to use my real name. And the first name that came to mind was that name of that character from that short story. It was especially useful, since no one else on the internet uses this name, anywhere. Except me. DanVzare is pretty damn useful as a unique username.
Although now I kind of wish I had called that character MaxVzare, because as it turns out, some people actually think my name is Dan. And I'm actually not very fond of the name Dan.
Even when giving myself a name, I can't seem to get the name I like most. (laugh)
I always misread your name as DanzVare instead of DanVzare.
My name is a horrible pun of vampire bat.
Mine also comes from having to come up with a username around 1998 or so:
I was heavily into Chaos Theory at the time and so I chose the name "Mandlebrot", which I misspelled obviously...
This got shortened to just "Mandle"...
The misspelling was a good thing though otherwise I'd be "Mandel" which has political overtones as well as just being a regular name in common useage, and it would be a bitch using it as a unique name anywhere...
