The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

About this game

You are but mere words.
Would you speak as with that mask,
With what lies underneath?

Heatwave is a short story set in the same world as Death Wore Endless Feathers. It takes place in a future California, where Dai Araiguma is playing a VR game in the middle of an abnormally tenacious heatwave.

AGS Panel Review

"The graphics and music are fantastic and fit the consistent retro style. In comparison to the complex cyperpunk setting and atmosphere the story and puzzles almost feel a bit trivial. The GUI is innovate but is a bit tricky to use. Apart from that it is a highly enjoyable game."

Top notch art. While the art style isn't my favorite, it's excellently done. The graphics are outstanding; somehow the author managed to pull off interesting backgrounds using an extremely weird color palette.

The puzzles are simple but entertaining, and they get the story moving. The dialogue is good, and the story although short and simplistic, has a nice cyberpunk style, not too removed from reality.

I agree with Peder. For the most part the controls are better than in other adventure games, but the double click (or triple, if the inventory box is still open) is a bit annoying.

This is an excellent short game with really amazing animations and really nice art & music! The interface and double clicking to interact can be a bit annoying at times, but the game is still worth a play as everything else is amazing! Looking forward to any future games from this creator!
