All of it looks incredible, but I especially love those sweet animations.

I can't just let Mandle win his own competiton by default, that would be blasphemous :cheesy:

Thanks for playing and commenting xil, HanaIndyana and Gurok.

I have to agree with AprilSkies, an amazing amount of work and effort has put into it, especially considering that it was your second MAGS in a row.

I'm a big fan of large blocky pixels and minimalism as it leaves a lot to the imagination, so the visual side was perfect for me. The strongest elements of the game were definitely the unique setting, atmosphere and presentation, which made it a really immersive experience. Didn't have any problems with the puzzles either, all logical and well constructed.

I'm not completely sure if the game benefits from a 4-verb interface on PC. You can already use right click to look and I don't think there were any objects or hotspots that required both "use" and "take", so they might as well be united.

And I did find a small bug:
Spoiler
After you use the metal bar and the door closes in the corrupted daemon room, you can still go through the door if you use "go west" at the edge of the screen. I think it also breaks the game and you can't finish it.

A very enjoyable game, well worth your time!

Congrats to both of you for releasing the game! Just finished The Furthest Station and plan on playing IAMJASON later today.

@st. - since The Furthest Station doesn't seem to have a completed game thread, I'm gonna comment here.

The graphics look simple, yet are consistent and completely sufficient to carry the message. I did love the slow and contenplating pace of the game, but since there was a fair amount of walking involved, the walk speed could have been faster. For me personally, there was a bit too much text to read. Don't get me wrong, it was all interesting and well written, but in couple of dialogues it just felt sort of too overwhelming. Didn't find any bugs, but experienced that unreadable font issue a few times.

It's a good MAGS entry with great story and I hope to see more from you in the future.

Oh, and there's a hobo in the game, that's always a good thing :)

Hey, thanks for playing it AprilSkies, BSP and Mandle!

I hope you go on with this, expanding it!
I do have some ideas about how to go on with the story and I also had to cut stuff from the current version, so I'm pretty sure that I'll make a longer version eventually, but right now I really want to get back to finishing Ehcilc, so probably not any time soon.

@BSP - That thing and the final conversation is indeed the end at the moment. It may feel a bit sudden or even confusing, but I just didn't have time to flesh it out properly.

@Mandle - Yes, you're right on track. How very observantly sherlockian of you :)
Spoiler
That's also why the environment and some of the actions you can do feel a bit weird, everything is deliberately placed and acted out to test the scenario.

Well, I'm done. Not as polished and ready as I'd like, but here it is: Scenario 5B

Yeah well. I'm not gonna make it on time D: It was probably a stupid idea in the first place to try and finish while attending a conference but you never know, right? So sorry for that. :(
Sad to hear that, those screenshots looked damn good.
How's everyone else doing? There were lots of awesome entries in production, hopefully they will all be finished.

Tied to a bed and slowly losing control over your body? A small sci-fi adventure for the February 2015 MAGS competition "Losing Something"
As most MAGS games, it's a bit rough around the edges and extremely short, but hopefully still an enjoyable experience.

Team:
Design, Writing, art and programming: Hobo
Music and additional programming: Cino
Italian translation: Stefano Siclari

Thanks to Lemonhead for the "Extended ALARCOST (BASS) 1.4" template

You can play the Italian version of the game by changing the game language in the winsetup.exe.

I'm kind of working on some sci-fi something, not sure if I'll finish on time though.
Can't give you any actual in-game shots, but here's a small teaser:

What a wonderful little game. The amount of work and effort you managed to pour into it in just a month is astounding. The visual side and writing fits really well with the unique theme and setting and the music is also lovely. Few of the puzzles did feel a bit forced and far fetched, but I didn't have too much trouble with them. The design choice of not including a proper save game system feels always a bit odd to me, but that might just be me.

You've already created three awesome short games so far, can't wait to play a full lenght Dropped Monocle game in the future.
#411
You guys have really nailed the atmosphere. Graphics, writing, music (and SFX) - they all blend together so well. As already mentioned, the puzzle solving part of the game needs some additional polishing, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the game.

Great work! There's tons of potential and I hope to see more from all of you.

Spoiler
There's a flower pot in the hallway that has no description text, but gives responses when you click on it. Also, you could talk to Hari, when you're playing as her.

It's a good idea, but nothing extremely original. I'm sure many developers have at least toyed with the musical idea (I sure have), but it's very hard to pull off (implementing dialog options without losing the flow of the songs etc.) and requires a rather hefty voice acting budget. I'd personally ditch that fantasy peasant/sword/king stuff and make a proper Space Opera :)

If done right, it could be pretty awesome, a number of TV series have proven that. As for games, then there are short musical sections in some of them, Curse of Monkey Island even integrated it with gameplay.

The new version is certainly an improvement and that water sure looks gorgeous.

Quote from: NickyNyce on Sat 24/01/2015 10:51:09
Maybe you could slow the water animation by one or 2 though, seems a touch fast.
This fast animation could just be a gif thing, I'm guessing it looks smoother and slower in the game.

Update 10 (24.01.2015) â€" It's not the size that matters...

When we set out, I knew this was going to be a long journey, but I never imagined that the distances would be so vast. We haven't even made it to the mountain yet, let alone started climbing it. Exactly how far is that damn thing anyway and when will we finally arrive? It feels like the village of Ystnaf and our first enthusiastic steps happened almost a lifetime ago.

Looking back towards the past we left behind, I see dozens of obvious shortcuts, useless stops and dangerous areas we could have avoided. I sometimes wonder if we would already be at the foot of the mountain if we had planned out a more thorough route or recruited a seasoned guide to help us out.

Still, we're steadily getting closer and Modnar is no longer a small dot on the horizon that I can just cover up with my thumb and ignore. It's there, it's real and staring us straight in the face, both inviting and mocking at the same time.

[imgzoom]http://www.tulevik.eu/ags/KOE/update10.2.png[/imgzoom]
Now that the production of Kingdom of Ehcilc has already reached 2015, the whole scope of the game is finally starting to take shape. I've already mentioned that I'm aiming for a medium length game, which will provide at least an hour of fun, but if it turns out shorter than planned, then I wouldn't actually be too disappointed. I don't want to drag it out just for the sake of it and I'll try to avoid forcing in unnecessary filler content.

In its current state the game should end up with 14-16 playable backgrounds. I'm still unsure about some of them, but everything is laid out in such a manner that it's easy to add or cut some places if the story or puzzles should require so. Here are the layout plans I'm using at the moment:

[imgzoom]http://www.tulevik.eu/ags/KOE/update10.png[/imgzoom]
Blue rectangles represent closed rooms (no free movement between them) and green ones are open (you can roam around freely). As you can see, the first few are linear and sort of on rails, so that the players can get accustomed to the story and objectives and then it opens up and gives them a larger area to explore.

As for objects and hotspots, then I just noticed the other day that I have unintentionally made almost everything (that is not a wall or floor) in the starting room interactable. Some smaller things are of course grouped together to avoid annoying pixel hunting, but that still means a total of 14 points of interest in a single room that you can use your four verbs on. Most of them are used for puzzle solving, others are there for either comedy or lore reasons. For example, there are a couple of books that you can read:

[imgzoom]http://www.tulevik.eu/ags/KOE/update10.0.png[/imgzoom]
I'm going to write more about different characters and creatures in the next update, but right now I can tell you that there are currently 10 NPCs (that you can talk to or use for puzzles) in the game. I'm definitely planning to add more and just as with objects and hotspots, some characters are vital for the progression of the story, while others offer optional information about the world.

So, all the people with compulsive clicking disorders can breathe easily â€" there will be a reasonable amount of things to look at and click on. Also, most of these things will have a specific purpose with tailored individual responses and none of that one-for-all generic unhandled event crap.

Thank you for reading and please don't be shy to post comments, argue or ask questions.

Great stuff, CaptainD!

I added Bertram Fiddle under enhancements, I hope it makes sense?
Is Mr Pumpkin Adventure an english version of an older game? Can't find much information about it other than Steam greenlight.

Isn't Mage's Initiation an AGS game?
Yeah, you're probably right, it seems that they at least started the devlopment in AGS, although their forum thread hasn't been updated since 2013.

Oh and the Talkie version of Jack: The Ripper Murders. And (not really announced) I'm doing a talkie version of Captain Disaster in The Dark Side of the Moon.
You mean this one? And does talkie version make them both remakes then?

I made a third list for remakes, but I don't really know many, so any help would be useful. I also brought out free games, but most of them are just guesses, if the game is not marked as free, it's either commercial or I didn't find any information about its status.

Thanks for all the contributions so far.

Inspired by CaptainD's looking forward to in 2015 thread, I decided to put together a list of adventure games to be released in 2015.

- There are currently two separate list: one for AGS games and other for everything else (maybe a third list for remakes?).
- Most games should be at least of medium length, but short games with good production values and longer development cycles will also find their way in here.
- The list is not complete, I'll keep updating and changing it during the year and marking games that are released.
- If the game is not marked as free, it's either commercial or I didn't find any information regarding its status.

All kinds of information and suggestions are welcome, so if there's a game that needs to be added/removed or you have some insight about something specific, share your opinions in the thread.

If you have a game in the list and wish it to be removed or want to change the links, send me a PM.

I think insanity may be edging it at the moment...
Sanity is overrated anyway, no indie game developer can truly be normal and sane :)  I'm certainly not.

I guess that the hero choosing part and those Amiga-style visuals may indeed leave a slight RPG-ish impression. The game does tackle some common fantasy RPG tropes and cliches, but as far as the gameplay goes, it's still a standard point and click. If I started adding RPG bits like character stats and quest systems, it would probably just grow way over my head.
#419
Thank you so much for the feature, CaptainD, I really appreciate it.

I am a bit curious about the adventure/RPG hybrid part though :)
I don't think I've mentioned anything about RPG elements, have I?
